Rebirth in the Apocalypse: Space Hoarding and Supernatural Abilities Rise

Su Yao was reborn with the painful memories of the previous apocalypse. With only a month until the apocalypse struck again, she decided not to sit idly by.

She spent all her savings to hoard...

Chapter 266 The Breath of Chill and a Glimmer of Hope

Su Yao watched the milk tea popsicle and ice cream in her hand gradually melt. The cold touch and cloying sweetness seemed so precious yet so powerless in this high-temperature apocalypse. She knew that these were only momentary comforts; the real crisis still lingered, urgently needing to be addressed.

"Mom and Dad, these can only provide temporary relief. I need to go out and look for more effective ways to cool down or other resources." Su Yao's eyes were filled with determination and resolve, leaving no room for doubt.

Although her parents' faces were filled with worry and reluctance, they also knew that Su Yao was their greatest hope for survival in this apocalypse. Her father patted her shoulder: "Yao Yao, be careful in everything you do. We'll wait for you to come back."

Su Yao took a deep breath and activated the system to scan the surrounding environment, leaving no stone unturned for any possible clues of life. A moment later, the system indicated that about five kilometers to the northeast, there was a former commercial center. There might be some usable insulation materials and large-scale refrigeration equipment there, but due to its location in a bustling area, the post-apocalyptic high temperatures had attracted numerous dangerous high-temperature mutated creatures, making it extremely dangerous.

Without the slightest hesitation, she swiftly selected suitable equipment from her spatial storage. A razor-sharp, supernatural sword capable of easily cutting through hard objects—a find she obtained during an exploration of mysterious ruins, always proving surprisingly powerful against formidable enemies; several defensive supernatural talismans that could unleash powerful shields to defend against attacks in critical moments; and some potions to replenish her stamina and supernatural abilities, ensuring she had enough energy to sustain her through prolonged battles and explorations.

Once everything was ready, Su Yao put on her heat-resistant cloak, activated her supernatural shield, and resolutely stepped out of the safe house, speeding off towards the northeast.

The moment Su Yao stepped into the area ravaged by the intense heat, she felt an almost suffocating heat. The air seemed to be on fire, and waves of heat rolled in. Even with her protective energy shield, she could feel the intense heat constantly eroding its energy. The ground beneath her feet was cracked and crisscrossed, with huge fissures spewing out scalding lava and acrid smoke. Every step required extreme caution; a single misstep could lead to utter destruction.

During her arduous journey, Su Yao was attacked by a flock of high-temperature mutated birds. These enormous birds, their feathers glowing red like burning flames, circled in the air, emitting sharp cries, before swooping down on Su Yao like arrows. Su Yao's eyes sharpened, and she swiftly drew her supernatural sword, chanting incantations as a layer of azure light instantly emanated from its blade. She wielded the sword, drawing graceful arcs through the air, each strike precisely repelling the attacking birds. However, the birds seemed unwilling to give up easily; they constantly adjusted their tactics, attacking Su Yao from all sides, plunging her into a fierce battle.

Knowing she couldn't afford to be passively attacked, Su Yao calmed herself, sensing the surrounding air currents and the rhythm of the birds' attacks. Suddenly, she noticed a brief pause in their attacks—a moment when they adjusted their posture and strength. Seizing this opportunity, Su Yao concentrated her supernatural power in her feet, leaping high into the air. In mid-air, she unleashed a "Supernatural Whirlwind Slash," her body spinning like a rapidly rotating blue top, the light from her supernatural sword like a giant blade, instantly slicing down most of the surrounding birds. The remaining birds, seeing the danger, scattered and fled.

Su Yao dared not slacken her pace and continued towards the commercial center. Finally, the once bustling commercial center came into view. However, the scene before her made her gasp. The buildings of the commercial center had been eroded beyond recognition by the high temperature; the exterior walls were covered with huge cracks and charred marks, and many buildings had even collapsed, turning into ruins. In these ruins, various dangerous high-temperature mutated creatures roamed: there were mutated hedgehogs with huge bodies covered in sharp spiky armor, high-temperature cheetahs that were agile and good at hiding, and mutated zombies that emitted a strong stench of decay and could spray strong acid liquid.

Su Yao cautiously infiltrated the commercial center, trying to avoid attracting the attention of too many mutated creatures. Using the system's detection capabilities, she searched the ruins for any possible insulation materials and refrigeration equipment. In the basement of a large shopping mall, she found some insulation materials buried under the rubble, but due to the large quantity, moving them was extremely difficult. Su Yao could only store these materials in her spatial storage, planning to take them with her once she found the refrigeration equipment.

As she continued her search, Su Yao arrived at the mall's electronics section. The area was a mess, with various electrical appliances scattered everywhere. Amidst the rubble, she discovered a large central air conditioning unit, but it was damaged and needed repair. Su Yao activated the system's repair function and began inspecting and repairing the unit.

Just as she was focused on her repair work, a giant, high-temperature mutated hedgehog noticed her presence. This hedgehog was the size of a small hill, and its quills shimmered red under the intense heat. It slowly rolled towards Su Yao, leaving a deep mark on the ground with each roll and kicking up a cloud of scalding dust.

Sensing the approaching danger, Su Yao quickly stopped her work and turned to face the attacking mutated hedgehog. She knew this hedgehog had extremely strong defenses, and ordinary attacks would hardly harm it. Therefore, she decided to use strategy. Su Yao used the surrounding environment, pushing discarded electrical equipment into the hedgehog's path to try and hinder its progress. At the same time, she set up several supernatural traps on the ground; these traps, when triggered, would release a powerful electric current, temporarily paralyzing the enemy.
