Rebirth in the Great Primitive World

After a shipwreck, Li Qing arrives in a primordial world where dinosaurs, ferocious beasts, and humans coexist.

The story... begins here!

Chapter 51 Giant Insect

It sounded like the sound of insects moving on the ground, and there must have been quite a few, otherwise the sound wouldn't have been so noisy and torturous. Li Qing covered his ears, but the sound still penetrated his eardrums and reached his heart, making him feel itchy and uncomfortable all over.

Unfortunately, the sound was very close to the two of them, seemingly coming from the bushes not far away.

Li Qing and Xiong Ga exchanged a glance, both seeing the confusion in each other's eyes.

"Let's go take a look."

Xiong Ga whispered.

Li Qing nodded.

Even though he subconsciously didn't want to join in the fun, he knew that in this situation, it was best to have a basic understanding of the other party. Otherwise, not even knowing what the other party was, this sense of "unknown" was often more dangerous.

The two dismounted from the bear. The bear whispered something to the mane, probably telling it to slow down, and then they began to slowly walk towards the source of the sound.

"It sounds like they went to one place and then stopped. What are they doing there? What's there?"

Li Qing heard a lot of those "whoosh, whoosh" sounds as people ran towards one place, and he felt a little worried.

As they walked to a patch of lush grass, they were very close to the sound. Xiong Ga turned back and gestured to Li Qing, indicating that it was safe to stay there, as going any further would be too dangerous. The two of them stopped and crouched down.

Li Qing glanced back at the mane behind them, then, still uneasy, made a shushing gesture before parting a small clump of grass and peering in that direction.

The visibility wasn't good; there were still tall grasses, about the height of an adult, blocking their view. However, the two of them were still able to see what was in front of them clearly.

There on the ground lay a horse covered in blood, its belly ripped open!

The horse and the ground were covered with black insects, each about the size of an adult's palm, that were completely black!

These insects were utterly repulsive in appearance. They were pitch black, with a plastic-like shell covering their bodies. In front of their heads were a pair of short pincers that seemed to be used to tear apart their prey. Behind them was even a long, fan-shaped tail-like thing that swayed from side to side as they moved. The insects were large, and there were so many of them that the two men couldn't help but feel a chill run down their spines.

"What the hell is this... a corpse beetle?"

"No... no, the corpse beetle's tentacles grow on both sides, their tentacles grow on their abdomen."

"What kind of insect is this?!"

Li Qing watched helplessly as they climbed onto the horse. What was even more terrifying was that the horse, whether it was still half-dead or because it was being devoured by them, began to tremble uncontrollably.

Li Qing could see these enormous worms crawling into the horse's body, as well as some that were probably calves, crawling into the horse's mouth, which was constantly opening and closing in pain, and even smaller calves crawling into the horse's eyes. Before long, the horse's eyes were completely black, covered with worms. And this was just the beginning. More worms were attracted by the food in front of them. They kept crawling out from the surrounding grass and onto the horse's body. In the blink of an eye, the horse's entire body was covered with these horrifying worms.

Dark insects crawled all over the horse's body, gradually covering it completely.

What is this?

Xiong Ga parted his lips slightly and asked.

"You ask me, how would I know..."

Seeing Xiong Ga's "innocent" expression, Li Qing couldn't help but mutter to himself: Hey, you've lived in this area for a long time, what's with that look you're giving me? Don't tell me you don't know what that thing is...

Li Qing was extremely nervous. He was most afraid of this kind of insect. Insects may seem small, but they often act in groups. Moreover, most insects may seem weak, but they are actually very resilient. Even if they are burned to a crisp by flames or smashed to pieces by boulders, they will still be so vigorous that they can launch an attack on their enemies unscathed.

What's more, this thing in front of us is really not small... a palm-sized worm, if it were to eat a person, it could probably devour them in the blink of an eye.

Seeing that Xiong Ga still had that look in his eyes, Li Qing couldn't help but say, "I think we should hurry up and slip away."

He didn't know if this thing would be like the pig-eating ants, uninterested in humans, but he didn't want to gamble with his life.

Xiong Ga nodded.

The two turned around and noticed that something was wrong with the mane. Usually, it would have reacted quickly and cleverly to lead them away, but this time, its body was trembling slightly, as if it too was afraid of this huge insect.

"Don't be afraid, mane, they haven't noticed us yet."

Xiong Ga gently stroked the mane on the head, comforting it.

This action made the mane feel better, and it perked up again.

"Phew, let's go, hurry up and get on."

Xiong Ga carefully climbed onto the mane on Li Qing's back and stretched out a hand.

Taking Xiong Ga's hand, he climbed onto the mane. The mane turned its head, and just as they were about to leave, Li Qing suddenly heard the familiar sound of a giant insect crawling towards them.

"No way..."

Li Qing turned around.

The horse from before has been completely devoured and vanished without a trace. Now, the black insects are swarming towards us like a tide.

They crawled very fast, and in the blink of an eye, they had reduced the distance between the two sides to half.

"Run!"

Li Qing shouted loudly.

The mane was facing away from the swarm of insects, but it also sensed a huge threat from behind. As Li Qing shouted the last word, the mane immediately took a step forward and ran.

"This is bad," Li Qing said, clutching the snakeskin bag tightly. "This is unfamiliar territory. Even if we manage to avoid those insects, it will probably take some time to get back to the tribe."

"hateful!"

Li Qing cursed inwardly.

For him now, time is money. He must return to the Red Flower Tribe as soon as possible, because the sooner he returns, the more likely he is to notify the tribe before the Black Wind Tribe launches an attack and allow the tribe to prepare. However, this sudden accident has disrupted Xiong Ga's plans and Li Qing's plans as well!

"There are only endless piles of green grass everywhere. Where can I run? Can I even escape?"
