Chapter 298 Liu Jie's Husband's Call

Liu Jie's husband had left her alone at home after their argument, but upon returning, he felt increasingly remorseful for his behavior. He realized it wasn't Liu Jie's fault, and a wave of regret washed over him. He paced back and forth in the room, Liu Jie's aggrieved expression constantly replaying in his mind, intensifying his remorse.

"No, I have to go find her right away." He slapped his forehead, as if he had suddenly made up his mind. He grabbed his car keys and rushed downstairs. Once in the car, he expertly started the engine, the tires screeching against the pavement, and the car sped off like an arrow. All the way, his eyes were fixed on the road ahead, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly, silently praying to see Liu Jie soon.

When he rushed to the place where the two were arguing, he looked around anxiously, but he couldn't find Liu Jie's familiar figure at all.

His eyes widened, and he spun around in place several times, muttering repeatedly, "Where is he? Where did he go?" His brows were furrowed tightly, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

He figured Liu Jie was probably furious and had taken a taxi home. With that thought, he hurriedly drove home. As soon as he entered the house and went upstairs, he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Liu Jie! Liu Jie!" But the house was silent; only his voice echoed in the empty room, without any response. His heart sank, and a sense of foreboding crept into his heart.

Without thinking twice, he rushed downstairs to the repair shop. The employees were busy working on their tools. He panted heavily and asked anxiously, "Have you seen Liu Jie come back?"

The mechanic stopped what he was doing, looked up, and shook his head blankly: "Didn't the boss's wife go out with you? I haven't seen her!" Dejected, he went back upstairs.

He thought to himself that Liu Jie was probably still angry with him. He had originally planned to take out his phone and call Liu Jie to coax her, but when he thought of Liu Jie's stubborn temper, he swallowed the words back. "She's probably still angry right now, and if I call her, I might get scolded. I'd better wait until she calms down," he comforted himself, and tossed his phone aside.

Time slips away like sand in an hourglass. Before we knew it, it was four or five in the afternoon, and the sunlight outside the window gradually softened.

He suddenly remembered that Liu Jie usually left home to pick up their son from school by this time, but she was nowhere to be seen today. His son was about to be dismissed from school; what could he do? He had no choice but to bite the bullet and go pick him up himself.

He drove to the school gate and watched as groups of children poured out of the campus like happy little birds, but he kept thinking about Liu Jie.

After finally picking up his son, he took him home, where his employees had already prepared dinner. The two sat around the table, eating the simple meal, but he found it tasteless. His eyes kept glancing towards the door, hoping that Liu Jie would suddenly appear before him.

It was already 6 p.m., night was falling, and the streetlights outside the window were on, but Liu Jie still hadn't returned. His heart began to pound like a rabbit's. He paced restlessly in the living room, a hint of panic in his eyes.

"No, I can't wait any longer." He gritted his teeth and finally made up his mind to call Liu Jie. His hands trembled as he picked up his phone and dialed Liu Jie's number.

The phone beeped, each beep like a hammer blow to his heart. Several minutes passed, but no one answered. His brows furrowed even more, and the veins on his forehead bulged.

Unwilling to give up, he dialed several more times, his fingers flying across the phone screen, as if that would make Liu Jie answer the phone sooner.

Liu Jie's cold voice came from the other end of the phone: "I'm not going home tonight. You'll have to cook for yourself, and remember to take our son to school."

After he finished speaking, the phone went dead. He stood there, holding his phone, feeling a mix of emotions, unsure of what to do.

In the dimly lit room, he sat listlessly on the sofa. Liu Jie seemed to be panting before the phone call ended. His body stiffened instantly, and the deafening music from before replaying in his mind flashed back.

The music was like a ferocious beast, rampaging through the quiet night and disturbing his peace of mind. He frowned, pondering carefully, and concluded that his wife must be angry and had gone to a club to clear her head.

He also knew that he sometimes spoke too harshly, and that his wife might have been feeling frustrated and going to the club to release her frustrations.

In the living room of the villa, the music was coming from Wang Hu. When Wang Hu bought the villa, he discovered that the previous owner had left behind a bunch of audio equipment, including a 3D surround sound system. On a whim, Wang Hu randomly picked a song and played it, intending just to liven things up and add some fun to the somewhat quiet atmosphere.

An ambiguous atmosphere filled the room. Liu Jie's face was flushed, as if enveloped in a blazing flame. She was slightly hunched over, her voluptuous body outlining a captivating curve.

She slowly turned around, a hint of reproach in her eyes, and looked at Wang Hu, saying, "You're really wicked! What if he finds out?" Her voice trembled slightly, a mixture of nervousness at being discovered and a strange thrill.
