Chapter 59 Passing By

Zhao Shu took the letter, but before she could open it, the music in the hall suddenly stopped. She hurriedly stuffed the letter into her bosom, lifted her skirt, and rushed into Fengxin Palace.

Upon arriving at Fengxin Hall, they saw that Physician Peng and the other five imperial physicians had exited through the door on the left side of the hall. Physician Peng was stretching, with a relaxed expression on his face.

The other imperial physicians whispered among themselves, creating a harmonious atmosphere. Physician Zhou bowed to Sun Yun, who was walking down from the pavilion, and said, "Young lady, your zither playing is superb, the best I have ever seen in my life. I admire you greatly."

Sun Yun smiled slightly, curtsied in return, and said, "The imperial physician's skill is truly remarkable; I should admire him." Although she didn't ask directly, everyone exchanged glances and smiled.

Physician Zhou bowed deeply to Physician Peng with utmost respect, saying, "Physician Peng has prescribed anesthesia, which has greatly reduced the Crown Prince's suffering, allowing us to receive the medicine smoothly. I am very grateful to Physician Peng for his noble character and willingness to share the formula with us. Thank you, thank you."

The other imperial physicians also bowed deeply to Physician Peng, saying, "Thank you for your noble character, Physician Peng."

For the first time, Physician Peng received the respect of his colleagues. In the past, he was often ostracized because of his low emotional intelligence. This time, he was finally respected, which was truly gratifying.

Just as he was feeling smug, he saw Zhao Shu coming over. He quickly approached Zhao Shu to claim credit, "Princess, everything went smoothly. His Highness the Crown Prince will definitely be able to walk within three months."

He couldn't reveal that Zhao Shu had given him the prescription, and he didn't know how to repay her, so he could only tell her good news to make her happy.

By carefully observing the expressions of the imperial physicians, Zhao Shu knew that with the anesthetic medicine, the leg reattachment had gone relatively smoothly; otherwise, they wouldn't all be so radiant.

"Thank you very much, Elder Peng and all the imperial physicians." Zhao Shufu bowed. "Has Your Highness rested?"

"He's resting. Oh, right, before His Highness the Crown Prince rested, he asked me to tell the Princess that he wants to see you." The old physician Peng almost forgot to pass on the message, and hurriedly told Zhao Shu as soon as he remembered.

Zhao Shu nodded and instructed Green Ivy, "Prepare meals for the imperial physicians. You've all worked hard."

"Princess, Aunt Jinxi just sent someone to say that the meal has been prepared and that the imperial physicians are here. Please come with me." Green Luo respectfully invited the Taiyi Sect members down. She was never this respectful before; at most, she was quiet. However, she was as respectful as ever to Physician Peng, after all, Physician Peng had invented shampoo and conditioner.

After the imperial physicians dismissed her, Zhao Shu said to Sun Yun, "You should also go and rest. Soak your hands in hot water and apply some hand cream." She had been playing for more than an hour, which is two hours!

Sun Yun smiled and waved his hand, "It's nothing. I used to play for an hour at a time."

"We can't be careless. Go and rest. I'll go see my brother, the Crown Prince." He wouldn't feel at ease unless he saw her with his own eyes.

"Okay." She didn't mince words, nodded, and went downstairs with her zither. Half of her was waiting in front of the palace gate when she saw her. She sniffed, and tears streamed down her face. "Miss, does your hand hurt?"

Sun Yun handed the zither to her without saying a word and went straight back to Jinlan Palace.

Inside Fengxin Palace, the music had stopped and no one spoke. Only the howling wind could be heard. Zhao Shu pulled her sleeves tighter; the weather was getting colder.

She told Chu Chun and the others to wait outside the door, then gently pushed open the palace door, trying not to make a sound as she walked quietly to the Crown Prince's bedside. The room was lit with palace lanterns, and the doors and windows were tightly closed. As she approached, she saw that the Crown Prince was lying on the bed with his eyes open.

The Crown Prince tilted his head and smiled at Zhao Shu, "Ah Jun."

“Brother Crown Prince, you should rest.” She said disapprovingly, tucking the blanket around him and sitting on the edge of the bed. “You need to rest more to recover quickly.”

"You little old hag, you're so nosy." He pulled his hand out from under the covers and patted Zhao Shu's head. "Ah Jun has grown taller."

"Brother Crown Prince, you can even joke now, it seems you're all better." She tried her best to keep the conversation light.

"Okay, I'll take you hunting." He stopped patting your head and started pinching your cheeks instead. "Ah Jun, eat more. You've gotten so thin. Your brother will worry about you."

Seeing his forced smile, Zhao Shu tried her best to smile brightly and easily, hoping to bring him positive energy. "It's good that you're thinner, you don't need to lose weight."

"Too thin, like a skeleton, ugly." The crown prince pretended to be angry and retorted, "Eat more and be obedient."

"Oh." Zhao Shu pretended to be defeated by him, which amused the Crown Prince quite a bit. He sighed and said, "Brother needs to rest. Ah Jun, you should go back now."

"Hmm." Zhao Shu knew he had something else to say, and swallowed her words several times before she could finish them. Although she could roughly guess what he wanted to say, since he had chosen to remain silent, she could only let him be.

She stood up, glanced at Li Zhuo on the roof beam, and felt much relieved. "Brother Crown Prince, A-Jun will come to see you again tomorrow. You should rest more today so that you can stay up all night with A-Jun tomorrow."

"Alright." The Crown Prince nodded with a smile, showing great affection for Zhao Shu.

Zhao Shu waved her hand, turned around and walked out. However, from the moment she stepped through the door, it was only a few steps, but it felt like she had walked a long road. She wished she could just step out of the palace gate in one go.

Just as she reached out to open the door, the Crown Prince suddenly said, "Ah Jun, can't you let your brother handle this himself? Your brother promised to be your support."

Zhao Shu's hand trembled slightly, and her eyes instantly welled up with tears. She suppressed a sob and tried to keep her voice calm before finally saying, "Okay."

After saying "Okay," she opened the door and left Fengxin Palace.

After she left, the Empress Dowager and Zhang Chu walked out from the side and watched her figure until it disappeared completely. After a long while, Zhang Chu said softly, "Your Majesty, don't worry, the princess is much better."

"She's too aggressive. I haven't paid enough attention to her before. When did this granddaughter, whom I cherish and pamper, suddenly grow wings? I'm afraid I can't control her anymore." The Empress Dowager's voice was filled with sorrow, as if tinged with the colors of autumn.
