Rebirth of the New Wedding Night: Clinging to the Rugged Husband and Not Letting Go

Shen Heng, the village bully of Shili Village, has a fierce and intimidating persona.

To everyone's surprise, his newly wedded little wife is not afraid of him at all. In fact, she keeps ...

Chapter 26 You smell so good

The old man's words left the brother and sister speechless.

Deng Min brought the dishes up: "Dad, I have to say something fair. As the saying goes, dragons beget dragons and phoenixes beget phoenixes. I won't say anything about Shi Hai, but Shi Qing and Shi Bo are both good children. Your and Mom's offspring are still the best. Jiao Jiao wasn't raised by us, but her roots are good. Being with her own sisters just makes her closer."

Deng Min was known in her hometown village for her sweet talk and charming words. When she said this, she was implying that Bai Zhiman had good roots and was good at teaching children. Bai Zhiman was immediately flattered and pleased.

"Xiaomin, what you said makes sense. All the children I raised are excellent. It's just that Jiaojiao wasn't around when she was little, otherwise she would be just as good."

Bai Shiqing secretly gave Deng Min a thumbs up.

It has to be her sister-in-law.

Bai Shihai seized the opportunity to say, "It's not too late now. I've been working with Shen Heng these past two days, and he doesn't seem as unreasonable as everyone says. If Jiaojiao can get along well with him, things will be fine for her in the future. Shen Heng is coming tonight, so please give Jiaojiao some face and don't make her feel awkward between you and Shen Heng."

Bai Zhiman hummed in agreement.

Bai Shiqing pointed at Bai Zhiman and made a face at Bai Shihai.

Bai Shihai walked over and flicked Bai Shiqing's head.

"Go and serve the dishes to your sister-in-law."

After finishing work, Shen Heng went home to tidy up. When he arrived at the Bai family home, he found that Bai Jiaojiao was not there. Just as he was about to go out to look for Bai Jiaojiao, he ran into her at the door.

"Heng-ge, you're back."

Bai Jiaojiao looked listless, and Shen Heng could tell at a glance that she was in low spirits.

"What's wrong?"

"There are still 20% of the wheat in the field that haven't been harvested. I think we should rush to harvest it despite the rain, otherwise we won't be able to eat any of it."

Shen Heng took Bai Jiaojiao back and pinched the water droplets off the ends of her hair.

"What a foolish thing to do. At least if it's left in the ground, it's still connected to the roots. Maybe the rain will stop in a day or two. But if you take it down, then there's really no way to save it."

Shen Heng thought Bai Jiaojiao lacked experience, so he patiently explained things to her.

Bai Jiaojiao pouted: "That's not how it is, Heng-ge. Believe me, this rain will last for almost half a month. If we don't harvest the wheat in the fields, we won't be able to eat a single grain."

Seeing Bai Jiaojiao's face all scrunched up with worry, Shen Heng smiled and patted her head: "Alright, this is not something you need to worry about. Your sister-in-law has already prepared the meal, so hurry up and eat."

In the evening, Deng Min stewed a pot of vegetables with potatoes, kelp, and green beans. The combination of these three ingredients was so delicious it would make your teeth ache.

This was the first time Shen Heng had eaten with his father-in-law, and for some reason, he found the food rather unappetizing.

Bai Zhiman sat opposite Shen Heng and Bai Jiaojiao, and suddenly felt needles pricking his already paralyzed legs.

Why should his daughter and son try to reason with him before the meal? Shen Heng stared at him, and he didn't even know how to start a conversation, let alone feel awkward.

Bai Zhiman: If I am guilty, let me die, instead of letting me have dinner with such a wicked son-in-law.

Not to mention Shen Heng, Bai Zhiman isn't even familiar with Bai Jiaojiao, his daughter who didn't grow up in his presence.

Bai Shihai put some food on Bai Zhiman's plate: "Dad, eat up, everyone's hungry."

Shen Heng glanced at Bai Shihai, then at Bai Zhiman's bowl.

Following suit, he reached out with his chopsticks and picked up a piece of potato, placing it in Bai Zhiman's bowl: "Dad, eat!"

Heaven knows how much mental preparation Shen Heng went through before he could finally call out "Dad."

He stopped being called that when he was a few years old.

He was used to speaking in a rough and gruff voice, and the way he called him "Dad" sounded so stiff and threatening that Bai Zhiman choked and almost dropped his chopsticks.

Bai Zhiman snapped out of his daze and glared at Chen Heng: "You eat your own food."

"Dad!" Bai Shiqing nudged Bai Zhiman with his elbow. Bai Zhiman looked away and lowered his head to eat.

Shen Heng could tell from Bai Zhiman's tone that he had a problem with him.

However, he was not naive; when a son-in-law visits for the first time, the father-in-law is always very polite.

Some unlucky guys might go to their father-in-law's house ten times to do chores and still not see their partner even once.

So Bai Zhiman gave him the cold shoulder, but Shen Heng didn't take it seriously.

Shen Heng wasn't used to facing such a large family, but Bai Shihai brought out the wine, and they became much more familiar with each other over drinks.

They started addressing each other as brothers. Bai Shihai, already a bit drunk, said, "Brother, my little sister is usually willful, so please bear with her! If she does anything wrong, send her back to her parents' house, and we'll take care of her. But you, but you can't lay a hand on her, hiccup... If you lay a hand on her, we two brothers won't let you off the hook!"

Shen Heng was still relatively clear-headed. Despite being threatened by his brother-in-law who had his arm around his neck, he wasn't angry. He just looked at Bai Jiaojiao and said, "I wouldn't dare to lay a hand on her. On the contrary, she doesn't even let me have a full meal at home."

Shen Heng could sense that the Bai family had always been somewhat afraid of him. They didn't care what others said about him, but he didn't want to take the blame in front of Bai Jiaojiao's family.

Instead of worrying about his brother-in-law abusing Bai Jiaojiao, he should teach his sister how to serve her husband at home.

As soon as Shen Heng finished speaking, everyone's eyes turned to Bai Jiaojiao.

Bai Jiaojiao didn't expect Shen Heng to bring this up: "When have I ever stopped feeding you? Last time we ate dumplings, weren't we worried you'd overeat?"

Shen Heng had lived for over twenty years without ever having a decent meal. After getting a wife, his diet improved dramatically, and he felt that all those years before had been wasted.

Bai Jiaojiao was afraid that Shen Heng would burst his stomach by eating as much as he wanted at every meal.

Eating two large plates of dumplings in one meal, what else do you want to do?

He thought he was Pigsy from Journey to the West.

"Little sister, your brother-in-law is at the peak of his strength, so it's never too much for him to eat!" The drunken man immediately sided with him, and Bai Shihai, his tongue slurred, even tried to defend Shen Heng.

"Understood, brother."

Bai Jiaojiao didn't want to argue with a drunkard, so she casually agreed.

She glanced at Shen Heng and saw that the man was looking at her with a smug expression.

After dinner, the two returned home, and Shen Heng noticed that Bai Jiaojiao remained sullen.

"What's wrong? Did I tattle on you to your brother? Are you angry?"

Although Shen Heng wasn't as drunk as Bai Shihai, he was still reeking of alcohol. He leaned over to talk to Bai Jiaojiao, but Bai Jiaojiao pushed him away.

Shen Heng gritted his teeth: "You're getting bolder and bolder. Is this how a wife should act? I just want to get close to you, and you won't even let me?"

Shen Heng could usually maintain a respectable facade in front of Bai Jiaojiao, but after drinking, he completely let his guard down.

Bai Jiaojiao's strength was no match for Shen Heng's advances. He nuzzled against her neck like a wild boar rooting up a cabbage, acting like a pervert: "Little Jiaojiao, you smell so good. Brother Heng likes you."
