Rebirth Revenge: Goddess, Hacked Again

A tragic childhood under the shadow of a stepfather, a desolate love that could never be, a clown-masked man in a late-night alley, the crisp moonlight, and the cold blade.

Oh, and the waiter...

Chapter Sixty: Infidelity

Wang Shen held both gloves in his hands and carefully examined their differences for a while. Visually, they were similar in color and style; without close inspection, it was indeed difficult to notice the difference. However, the two gloves felt noticeably different in weight when held in his hands.

"Manager Han, what material is this glove made of?" Wang Shen held up the glove that Han Lin handed him and asked him this question.

"As far as I know, it should be fire-resistant asbestos. Officer Wang, you know that flamingo involves contact with open flames, so the gloves must be made of fire-resistant material."

Wang Shen nodded, then shifted his gaze to the glove sealed in the plastic bag. "By the way, take both gloves back to the police station's forensic department immediately and have them tested for the material." Wang Shen waved to the policeman beside him and handed him both gloves. The policeman received the assignment and left the scene.

"Manager Han." Wang Shen then turned his gaze to Han Lin, who was standing to the side. "I still need your help with some things. I wonder if you're available right now?" Wang Shen smiled at Han Lin.

"That's convenient, that's convenient. Shall we talk here?" Han Lin immediately agreed, looking at Wang Shen for his opinion.

"Let's talk outside." Wang Shen nodded and followed Han Lin into the lobby, where they found a seat.

"Bring me a pot of tea," Han Lin said, waving to the waiter standing not far away.

“Manager Han, there’s no need for all that trouble,” Wang Shen said, trying to stop him. “I won’t beat around the bush either, I’ll just ask directly.”

"It's alright, please go ahead." Han Lin nodded, looking somewhat nervous as he gazed at Wang Shen.

"My colleague and I just checked on the injured person's condition. The injured person's name is Xu Cheng, you all usually call him A-Cheng, right?"

Han Lin listened and nodded.

“I’ve heard some gossip about Acheng, but I think this information might be helpful for the case. I’ve been thinking about it, and it’s more convenient to ask you directly rather than other employees in the store.” As Wang Shen spoke, he picked up his notebook and pen again.

"Do you think that Acheng's incident was deliberately set on fire?" Han Lin stared wide-eyed at Wang Shen, his face full of surprise and disbelief.

Wang Shen was equally surprised by Han Lin's question. However, he quickly regained his composure. Wang Shen smiled and replied, "It's too early to draw a final conclusion. It's precisely because I've discovered some suspicious points that I wanted to consult you to dispel some of my doubts." He then smiled at Han Lin. "Therefore, for the sake of your employee, we hope you can cooperate with our police investigation."

"That's for sure, that's for sure," Han Lin nodded repeatedly.

"It's said that Acheng used to be a law-abiding employee, but in the last two years, he suddenly became arrogant. Not only that, your management seems to turn a blind eye to his behavior. In addition, his promotion was exceptionally fast, and his work is particularly easy. If my information is correct, he should only be responsible for demonstrating the flamingo dish now, right?"

After hearing Wang Shen's words, Han Lin's expression became somewhat awkward. He clenched his hands together, constantly rubbing his fingers. Han Lin twisted his stiff neck and nodded.

"Acheng is from out of town, and your store's tolerance for an employee from out of town is truly touching. As far as I know, he doesn't get along well with his other colleagues. Does Acheng have some special skill that makes you so tolerant of his behavior?"

“That’s not how it is.” Han Lin finally spoke a complete sentence. After saying this, Han Lin looked around to make sure no one was around, then deliberately lowered his voice and said mysteriously, “Officer Wang, you’re a smart man, so I won’t beat around the bush. You know what the idiom ‘fearless’ means. The reason A-Cheng dares to be so arrogant is because…” Han Lin lowered his voice even further as he finished speaking. He looked around again, covered half of his mouth with one hand, moved closer to Wang Shen, and whispered, “He has connections, it’s our female boss.”

"You mean Acheng and your female boss are having an affair?" Wang Shen asked directly, but he controlled his voice very well.

Han Lin stared at Wang Shen with wide eyes, then nodded firmly a few times.

"Manager Han, do you have a photo of Acheng? He was lying on the ground just now, and his burns were so severe that I couldn't see his face clearly." Based on the name, Wang Shen could basically determine that Acheng was the employee who delivered meals to Han Mo back then. Now, Wang Shen was asking Han Lin for Acheng's photo to confirm this clue.

"Come with me." Han Lin nodded and stood up from his chair. Wang Shen followed Han Lin, walking around a winding path for quite some time, until they finally arrived at the hotel's office area. They stood in front of an office door with the words "Restaurant Manager's Office" written on it in large characters.

Han Lin pushed open the office door and stepped aside to let Wang Shen enter first. Han Lin calmly brought Wang Shen a cup of tea, then turned and walked to his filing cabinet. After rummaging through the cabinet for a while, he pulled out a piece of paper from a pile of files and handed it to Wang Shen.

Wang Shen took the paper from Han Lin. The paper contained A-Cheng's basic information and a photo of him. Wang Shen examined the photo carefully for a while; it was indeed the deliveryman he had visited some time ago. Wang Shen glanced at A-Cheng's information again, comparing it with what Liang Zichen had gathered, and found no major discrepancies. Wang Shen nodded to Han Lin, thanked him, and returned A-Cheng's file to Han Lin.

Han Lin put the file back in his cabinet and then sat down opposite Wang Shen.

"Manager Han, are you in charge of all the big and small things in this store?"

“That’s generally how it is,” Han Lin nodded.

"This shop doesn't belong to you privately, right?"

"No, no, no, that's not it." Han Lin immediately waved his hand after hearing Wang Shen's words. "Officer Wang, our store is a nationwide chain. I'm just a high-level employee, not even the general manager of this store."

"Oh?" Wang Shen exclaimed in surprise. "So the person in charge of this store is the female boss you just mentioned?"

"Yes, that's right." Han Lin nodded.

“There’s something I find strange. How did Acheng, an ordinary waiter, manage to get in touch with the female boss?” Wang Shen stared at Han Lin, waiting for his answer.
