Chapter Sixty-One: Qi Huan

Han Lin glanced at the office door, and after confirming that no one was there, he turned his gaze to Wang Shen, sighed, and slowly said, "This matter dates back to an annual meeting two years ago."

Like other businesses, "Spicy Restaurant" holds an annual meeting near the New Year to reward all employees for their hard work throughout the year. Besides Han Lin and all the employees, the female owner of "Spicy Restaurant" in this city also attends the meeting. The owner's name is Qi Huan, and everyone who knows her agrees that she is a free-spirited woman. Although Qi Huan is in her thirties, she is very well-maintained and looks like a woman in her twenties. Everyone envies that time has bypassed Qi Huan, leaving no trace on her face, but everyone also believes that this is related to her carefree personality.

Qi Huan is a typical rich second-generation heir, enjoying life and doing what she likes as much as possible. She rarely interferes in the daily affairs of "Spicy Restaurant," leaving them all to Han Lin. Qi Huan and Han Lin are university alumni, and over time, Han Lin gained Qi Huan's trust. Therefore, aside from the annual party, no one else has the chance to meet this legendary beautiful boss.

Two years ago, the company's annual meeting was, as usual, held at a luxury hotel. Many people asked why the company didn't hold the meeting at its own restaurant. Whenever asked this question, Qi Huan would simply smile dismissively. Her reasoning was simple: for most people, "Spicy Restaurant" was a high-end establishment. And for the employees of "Spicy Restaurant," it was their workplace. Qi Huan worried that holding the annual meeting at their workplace would make everyone feel uncomfortable. This alone was enough to make everyone adore their beautiful boss. At the annual meeting, Qi Huan would also include a lucky draw, ensuring everyone left with a prize. In addition, Qi Huan would give each employee a generous red envelope. Therefore, the employee turnover rate at "Spicy Restaurant" was very low; everyone was wholeheartedly dedicated to working for the restaurant.

Every year, Qi Huan was very satisfied with his restaurant's performance report. It could be said that "Spicy Restaurant" was indeed a restaurant experiencing steady growth. As it approached 7 PM, everyone was seated. After a brief summary and encouragement of everyone's work over the past year, the meal began. Throughout the meal, laughter and cheerful conversation filled the air. Due to his easygoing and cheerful personality, Qi Huan easily got along well with his employees. When Qi Huan offered drinks at each table, he rarely refused their offers and would down his glass of baijiu in one gulp. However, Qi Huan's alcohol tolerance wasn't very high.

The annual meeting lasted for more than three hours, and by the end, everyone was getting tired of it and wanted to leave with the red envelopes Qi Huan had given them. Qi Huan was already completely drunk, and almost everyone present was intoxicated and couldn't drive. Han Lin helped Qi Huan up and took out his phone to call a designated driver. Before the call could connect, A Cheng walked up to Han Lin, glanced at him, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "Manager Han, I can take President Qi home."

Han Lin looked at the unremarkable Acheng in front of him and asked, "Didn't you drink?"

"No." Acheng shook his head firmly, his mind clear.

"Can you drive?" Han Lin continued to ask, puzzled.

"Yes, I learned it two years ago," Acheng replied, his gaze still firm as he looked at Han Lin.

"I see." Han Lin hesitated for a moment, glancing at Qi Huan beside him.

At this moment, Qi Huan seemed to have sobered up a bit. She heard the conversation between the two people, gently pushed Han Lin away, and took two steps closer to A Cheng. Qi Huan looked at A Cheng and said, "You, I remember you. You wouldn't drink no matter how I tried to persuade you."

"Mr. Qi, I'm so sorry, I'm allergic to alcohol," Acheng replied, lowering his head slightly.

"How old are you?" Qi Huan's cheeks flushed slightly as she slowly brought her face closer to A-Cheng's and asked him.

"Twenty-six," Acheng replied, lowering his head even further.

"Mr. Qi, you're drunk." Han Lin pulled Qi Huan away from A Cheng.

"I'm not drunk. Okay, thank you for taking me home today." With that, Qi Huan broke free from Han Lin's hand and tossed her car keys into the air. The car keys traced a perfect arc in the air before landing steadily in A Cheng's hand.

"Come on, help me up." Qi Huan stretched out her right hand, walking unsteadily. Acheng helped Qi Huan up, and the two of them staggered away from the hotel lobby.

From then on, Qi Huan and A Cheng's relationship quickly blossomed, and they announced their romance not long after. Qi Huan was someone who didn't care about social status or worldly opinions. She didn't care about the disparity in their social standing, nor did she care about their nearly double-digit age difference. Even though Qi Huan's parents tried their best to dissuade her after learning about it, they ultimately couldn't stop her stubbornness. Their relationship progressed rapidly, and Qi Huan appeared at "Spicy Restaurant" much more frequently.

With Qi Huan's powerful backing, Acheng's status at "Spicy Restaurant" rose rapidly, and his workload decreased accordingly. Qi Huan didn't care about worldly opinions, and neither did Acheng. Many people whispered behind Acheng's back about his motives for dating Qi Huan, and the content was predictable. They simply called Acheng a greedy, opportunistic person after money. Some even went so far as to portray his relationship as a form of prostitution. Gradually, a very clear barrier formed between Acheng and the restaurant's employees. Conflicts between Acheng and his staff also increased.

"So, that's why A-Cheng's workload is light, yet his income is higher than other employees. I think it's understandable that others have complaints. But speaking of A-Cheng's appearance, he is indeed attractive to women, which is probably his natural advantage." Han Lin awkwardly recounted the whole story, added his own comments, and finally gave Wang Shen an awkward smile.

Wang Shen put down his stenography pen and looked at Han Lin sitting in front of him. "Manager Han, after listening to your explanation, I have a basic understanding of Acheng's situation. However, there is still one question that I don't understand. I wonder if you could help me answer it?"

"Officer Wang, I've already said all this, I'll do my best to help you with whatever I know. Please feel free to ask." Han Lin smiled at Wang Shen.

"Your boss, Qi Huan, right? How's her relationship with Acheng?"

"I haven't had much contact with them, but judging from the surface, we seem to have a pretty good relationship."

Wang Shen nodded and continued, "In that case, why doesn't Qi Huan help Acheng find a more respectable job? Wouldn't that be better for her too?"

“As I just said, our boss is a carefree person. She probably doesn’t care about this at all,” Han Lin replied with a smile, looking at Wang Shen.
