Chapter Twenty-Six: The Terrifying Clown Man

Liang Li stared at the clown mask on the man's face, her hands gripping the wall haphazardly, her body slightly turned to the side. Unfortunately, there was no other way out for Liang Li. She believed that a man dressed like this must be extremely psychologically twisted. "We have no grudge. If you want money, I'll give it to you, I only have this much," Liang Li said, taking out her wallet. Her hands trembled as she pulled out all the cash and threw it in front of the clown man. A few banknotes were blown into the air by the cool night breeze. This scene made Liang Li feel increasingly frightened, as if she were scattering paper money for herself.

The clown man stood motionless in front of Liang Li, watching the banknotes rise through the air and fall to the ground. Liang Li thought the clown man was smiling. She felt that the smile hidden behind the mask was even more eerie.

Seeing that the clown man remained unmoved, Liang Li said tremblingly, "If you don't like money, and just want me, that's fine too. I... I absolutely won't resist." After saying that, Liang Li slowly closed her eyes, waiting for the clown man to take advantage of her.

A moment later, when Liang Li opened her eyes again in terror, the clown man was still standing there, completely unmoved by her beauty. A flash of cold white light appeared, and Liang Li blinked. When she saw the sharp knife in the clown man's hand, she screamed in terror again.

However, Liang Li only managed a half-cry before the other half was abruptly caught in her throat, drowned out by the icy chill of the blade. Liang Li's eyes widened as she stared at the clown-like man so close to her; her fear vanished in an instant. Because fear could no longer change anything, and her fate was sealed. The sharp blade pierced Liang Li's chest. Her chest heaved violently, and gradually, a patch of crimson blood seeped from her chest. Liang Li tried to move her lips, but she seemed to have no strength left.

The clown man seemed to understand what she meant and, surprisingly, mercifully replied, "Because you know too much. A person who knows things they shouldn't know deserves to die."

Liang Li stared at the clown's mask. She saw him laugh again, a laugh that was incredibly bloody and ferocious. For a moment, Liang Li felt as if she had lost weight, slowly sliding down the wall. She took one last look at the moon on the horizon. How had she never noticed before how beautiful everything in the world was?

As dawn broke, Wang Shen tapped his throbbing head. He must have been thinking about the case all night, which was why he hadn't slept well. After leaving the bar yesterday, Wang Shen didn't immediately return home but went to see Zheng Wu again to verify whether Liang Li's words were true. Zheng Wu seemed very cooperative, and his testimony was identical to Liang Li's. The driver's words, Zheng Wu's words, and Liang Li's words all seemed to have credibility. The key now was the man who gave Sang money. Although there was still no evidence to suggest that Sang's death was not an accident, a strong voice in Wang Shen's mind told him that everything was connected and not as simple as it seemed. Sitting on the bed, Wang Shen suddenly remembered the driver's words. The driver lost control of the car because of strong light interference, but where did the strong light come from? Wang Shen immediately took out his phone and checked the weather on the day of the accident. Cloudy? Wang Shen recalled that he hadn't seen much sun that day. This was very strange. Where did the strong light the driver mentioned come from?

After getting up and quickly washing up, Wang Shen went to the traffic police brigade. He retrieved the video footage of the accident that day. Sitting in front of the monitor, he carefully watched the entire incident.

"Stop!" Wang Shen suddenly stood up from his chair, pointed at the screen, and said to the monitoring operator beside him. Wang Shen moved closer to the screen, and sure enough, a blinding light appeared on it. The light was reflected from a convex mirror. But where was the light source? If someone was deliberately creating a light source, then this really wasn't a simple traffic accident. Wang Shen suddenly felt a little scared. If all the assumptions were true, then there might be someone who had calculated all the timing, grasped the movements of all relevant people, and orchestrated this unnatural death!
