When Liang Qi overheard the centurion saying he was going back to Granny Ge's house, his heart pounded with anxiety. He worried about Xiaoyue being trampled into the trap by those above.

He was so anxious, as if he had wheels of fire on his feet, that he wanted to rush out and check on Xiaoyue's situation in the trap, and he couldn't stay in the trap any longer.

But when he stepped onto the stick leaning against the wall of the trap and tried to push open the lid to get out, he found that he couldn't budge it at all; it was as if something was pressing it down.

So Liang Qi, who had jumped into the trap and was spinning around in circles, was so anxious that he walked from the east side of the trap to the west side, and then from the west side to the east side. Finally, he accidentally discovered the hole through which he had climbed out of the trap from the other side of the door.

He immediately crouched down in the hole and looked in Xiaoyue's direction, but couldn't see anything inside. So he reached out and cleared out the firewood piled up in the trap, piece by piece.

Holding a pickaxe in one hand and a torch in the other, he used his elbows to climb over the cave entrance and found a pile of snow blocking the entrance.

Liang Qi used a pickaxe to work hard into the snow inside the cave until he had created a space large enough for one person to bend down. While digging the cave, Liang Qi also made sure to clear the ground.

When the trap cover fell, Liang Qi couldn't be sure where Xiao Yue was, so he broke through an armful of snow to clear the ground, while Xiao Yue was also clearing snow on the same side.

Hearing the sound of Liang Qi rummaging through things on the ground, I couldn't help but blurt out, "Liang Qi?"

Liang Qi was startled when he heard the voice, but immediately realized what was going on: "Where are you? Are you hurt?"

Xiaoyue said happily, "Judging from the sound, it shouldn't be far away. I have a stick in my hand. Should I poke Xuejin a few times? Keep an eye on her."

After Xiaoyue finished speaking, she turned the stick over and laid it flat, then thrust it forward. Hearing Liang Qi's voice, Xiaoyue thrust it towards the window again, but suddenly her strength gave way, and the stick pierced through the snow.

Xiaoyue Ma Chang started using his hands to clear the snow along the direction of the stick. Liang Qi also saw the stick and started clearing the snow with his pickaxe along the direction of the stick.

When the two met, Liang Qi grabbed Xiaoyue's hand and said urgently, "Quick, come with me."

Liang Qi led Xiaoyue to the hole in the window trap, watched Xiaoyue climb over, and then climbed into the hole himself.

Xiaoyue stood by the fire to warm herself, but she couldn't get warm no matter what she did. She kept shivering by the fire. Liang Qi served Xiaoyue some rice and vegetables.

Xiaoyue felt much warmer after eating the hot meal. Sitting on the firewood, she watched Liang Qi pile firewood in the four corners and light them. The four fires quickly warmed up the area under the trap.

Seeing that there was nothing left to tidy up, Liang Qi sat down on a makeshift bed made of wooden sticks, pulled Xiaoyue into his arms, put her on the bed, and then personally took off her shoes.

Liang Qi also lay down on the bed, letting Xiaoyue lie in his arms like a shrimp.

Protected by Liang Qi, Xiaoyue stared wide-eyed at the fire, but couldn't fall asleep.

Liang Qi propped himself up on his elbow, looked at Xiaoyue, and gently comforted her, "Don't be afraid. It was my fault this time. I should have let you come over."

Xiaoyue turned around and gave Liang Qi a bitter smile: "I'm not blaming you, I'm just wondering when this will end. We just opened up the market, and now it's all gone down the drain."

Seeing that Liang Qi was also frowning slightly, he continued, "I originally had many plans. I wanted to open up some land in the spring and raise about a hundred chickens. I wanted Yang Danian to look after the chicken farm."

I want to open a clothing store in town for Li Qianqian and Lu Xiaomei, with me as the boss. I also want to find teachers for the children in the village, so they can't be like me, completely illiterate.

All of this was ruined by the war. Luckily, Village Chief Xu sent all the villagers to Qixing Mountain, otherwise our village would have ended up like Sanjiazi Village, where the whole village was slaughtered.

Liang Qi listened to Xiao Yue's rambling and knew that he was nervous about the situation. Liang Qi had no solution and could only listen.

Xiaoyue's voice gradually faded away. Liang Qi looked down at the woman in his arms; she had fallen asleep.

Liang Qi covered Xiaoyue with the blanket again, and seeing that the fire in the campfire was getting smaller, he jumped out of bed and added firewood to each fire pit. Just then, he heard footsteps outside.

Liang Qi rushed to Xiaoyue's side and gently covered Xiaoyue's ears. Just then, voices came from upstairs again.

Xiaoyue was still half asleep and was about to make a sound when Liang Qi covered her mouth.

Xiaoyue quickly realized what was happening, nodded to Liang Qi, and Liang Qi removed his hand, putting his arm around Xiaoyue to listen carefully to the footsteps and voices above:

Centurion Ma and Hui San entered the house one after the other. Hui San whispered, "That house is so strange, you can't even light a fire in it."

Centurion Ma's eyebrows shot up, and he said, "Really."

Hui San, still shaken, said, "The holes in my shoes and my pants were burned when the fire was started."

Centurion Ma paced a few steps and said, "If I didn't have important business to attend to, I would have stayed there for two days. Now that the General has sealed off the courtyard, I can't just trespass. Otherwise, if military law comes down, we'll both lose our lives."

He then said to Hui San, "You can be my bodyguard for now, and we'll talk about the future later."

Before long, the sound of snoring came from upstairs, deafeningly loud.

The snoring didn't stop until the next day, before dawn. Then the soldiers began to prepare for the journey, made breakfast, packed up, and the army set off. After the sound in the courtyard was gone, Liang Qi jumped out of the trap.

They leaped onto the rooftops, and the mighty army headed towards Seven Star Mountain.
