Xiaoyue arranged for Li Lei to be planted in a reclaimed area at the foot of Xiaoma Hutou Mountain, where ramie was planted. The area then extended up the hillside to the middle of the mountain, interspersed with walking sticks among the trees.

The width was extended by about one mile horizontally, and the cane was carried across the river to a point 500 meters away on the opposite bank, where a three-room thatched hut was built next to the trees.

The house was repaired in five days. Li Lei and Xiao Yue built the chicken coop while using walking sticks. The coop was 100 meters long and had poles on top for the chicks to rest on at night.

They also built enclosures for ducks and geese in the opposite direction, with wooden mats underneath.

After taking care of all that, Xiaoyue let her chickens, ducks, geese, and rabbits roam freely in the garden. She also asked Li Lei to buy two hundred chicks, one hundred ducks, and one hundred geese from town.

After everything was ready, they found Yang Danian to help feed the chickens and geese.

As for the houses being built in the village, Xiaoyue entrusted them all to Xu Fanyuan. The houses next to Xiaoyue's, in the mountains, were finished, and Xiaoyue's own five large tile-roofed houses were also completed.

They also built east and west wing rooms, but didn't dig a well. The two households were originally one family. The cane between Xiaoyue's two houses was demolished to create a road that a donkey cart could pass through.

After the house was repaired, Xiaoyue, Li Lei, and Chunyue cleaned up the two acres of land in the backyard. The roots of the cabbages planted last year still needed to be removed. Li Lei took a shovel and dug up all the roots.

Xiaoyue and Chunyue each carried a basket on their backs, and were responsible for piling up all the dug-up vegetable roots, packing them together, carrying them out of the field, and dumping them into the pit by the soil.

The group ate a steamed bun in the field at noon, and then worked until dark before finally going home to rest.

They finished cleaning up the vegetable roots in one or three days, and then poured the composted fertilizer into the field.

After fertilizing, Xiaoyue turned the soil over with a shovel. It took her seven days to prepare the two acres, and then she bought millet seeds for another two acres.

Li Lei sowed the seeds in front, Chun Yue buried the soil behind, and Xiao Yue was in charge of watering. After working for three more days, the two mu of land was planted, and Li Lei returned to the town.

Xu Fanyuan would bring feed for the chickens, ducks and geese from town every few days. Xiaoyue often stayed in the chicken coop to check on the chicks' growth.

Days passed by like flowing water, and the clothing shop gradually started to do business. It no longer needed to take orders from the county, and it was now earning about ten taels of silver a month.

When Chunyue saw Xiaoyue arrive again that day, she happily rushed over to greet her: "Eggs, lots of eggs."

When Xiaoyue arrived at the garden, there were eggs everywhere. As Xiaoyue was picking up the eggs, Yang Danian came over and said, "Use this to pick up the eggs."

Xiaoyue looked over and saw that it was a basket woven by Yang Danian himself. It could only hold one room's worth of eggs, with ten compartments horizontally and ten compartments vertically, just the right tools for collecting and selling eggs.

Xiaoyue gave Yang Danian a thumbs up. Originally, Yang Danian's wages were eight hundred coins, but Xiaoyue said, "The wages have been increased to one tael of silver."

Yang Danian smiled and nodded, saying, "It's about the same price as when we built the house."

Xiaoyue smiled and asked, "How is Sister-in-law Yang?"

After Xiaoyue finished collecting the eggs, she reminded Chunyue to be careful and then returned home. She still lived in the old house and did not move to the five-room brick house.

When she got home, Xiaoyue thought it over and over and decided to go to Uncle Liang's house.
