Lu Hengyi had no objections; he was fine with living anywhere. Being out here was nothing like being at home, much less like before the apocalypse. It was also a good opportunity to get to know Ye Yunxi's friends.

Everyone else agreed with Li Yan's allocation and had no objections.

After a brief explanation, they were told to go and rest, and that they would meet the Fifth Base Commander together the next day.

Ye Yunxi, Feng, and Xuan Yu, along with Yunzi, went upstairs together. They decided to stay on the fifth floor. The fifth floor wasn't too high, and the sun wouldn't be as strong there; the top floor, on the other hand, would be quite sunny.

There are two households on each floor. Gu Qingqing, Zhang Haiyi, and Lu Hengyi live on the fourth floor, while Chen Zhe and Zhang Jing live opposite Ye Yunxi and her family.

Fu Heng opened the door, and they went inside. Ye Yunxi looked the house up and down; it was similar to the residential area they had lived in before: a kitchen, a bathroom, two bedrooms, and a living room.

The living room is quite small, with only a table and a few chairs.

Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng chose a room with a single bed and a wardrobe, and that was it.

This single bed needs to be replaced; it's not comfortable for two people to sleep in.

Ye Yunxi put the single bed into her spatial storage, then took out the double bed from their space and placed it on the ground.

Then, feeling the space was a bit too small, I put the wardrobe away again. Next, I replaced it with a blackout curtain; the ones at the base were regular curtains, which couldn't block out the sunlight.

They don't need wardrobes anyway. They can just take them out before they leave.

Ye Yunxi came out of her room and went to Xuan Yu's room to ask.

"Xuanyu, this bed is a bit small, let me get you a different one."

Xuan Yu smiled and rejected Ye Yunxi.

"Sister Yunxi, no need, I can still sleep here."

Ye Yunxi didn't ask him to change the bed; it was up to her. She gave him a sunshade to block out the sunlight.

So the group tidied up quickly, washed up, and went to bed to rest.

The next morning, Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng got up and had a simple breakfast at home.

A knock came at the door shortly after, and Xuan Yu went to open it. Inside were Gu Qingqing, Zhang Haiyi, and Lu Hengyi.

Gu Qingqing greeted Xuan Yu with a smile, and Xuan Yu stepped aside to let them in.

When Ye Yunxi saw that the people who came were Gu Qingqing and the others, she smiled and asked them.

"What brings you here? Have you had breakfast yet?"

Gu Qingqing walked over and sat down next to Ye Yunxi.

"We've already eaten. We're here to call you. Captain Li just came to tell us to come down and assemble. He said he has something to tell us."

"Okay, let's go see A Zhe and Zhang Jing together."

Ye Yunxi got up from her chair and went with Gu Qingqing and the others to knock on Chen Zhe's door.

After waiting for about a minute, the door opened, and it was Chen Zhe who opened it.

He looked at them, somewhat flattered, and asked.

"Sister Yunxi, what's going on here?"

Ye Yunxi and Gu Qingqing saw Chen Zhe's expression and smiled at him.

"Captain Li needs to see us. He wants us to assemble. We came to call you and Zhang Jing. Huh, where's Zhang Jing?"

When Chen Zhe heard Gu Qingqing ask him about Zhang Jing, his face instantly turned red. He stammered.

"Zhang Jing... she... she hasn't gotten up yet."

Upon hearing this, Gu Qingqing laughed and teased Chen Zhe.

"Oh! You guys... um... um... are you hiding something from us?"

Chen Zhe's face turned even redder, and he was at a loss for what to do.

Ye Yunxi's lips curled slightly; Qingqing was indeed outspoken. However, Chen Zhe and Zhang Jing were indeed hiding something from them.

They all knew about Chen Zhe and Zhang Jing's affair, but they just didn't say it outright.

Ye Yunxi interrupted them and spoke up for Chen Zhe.

"Alright, Qingqing, stop teasing Azhe. Azhe, go wake Zhang Jing up, we need to meet this afternoon."

Chen Zhe nodded sharply and said, "Okay, you can go down first, we'll be there in a bit."

Gu Qingqing teased Chen Zhe, saying, "It's okay, take your time, there's no rush."

Before she could finish speaking, Ye Yunxi pulled her away.

Gu Qingqing, who was being led away, was still excitedly telling them.

"Sister Yunxi, when do you think Chen Zhe and Zhang Jing will tell us?"

Ye Yunxi gently tapped Gu Qingqing's forehead.

"You! It's their business when they want to talk. We'll just pretend we don't know anything."

Zhang Haiyi echoed this sentiment.

"Yes, Qingqing, you have to listen to Yunxi. If they don't say anything, we'll pretend we don't know anything."

Gu Qingqing stuck out her tongue at them and made a face.

They all smiled helplessly.

When Ye Yunxi and the others came downstairs, they saw Li Yan waiting for them.

They walked over quickly and greeted Li Yan with smiles.

After greeting them, Li Yan asked about Chen Zhe and Zhang Jing.

Gu Qingqing said, "They're behind, they should be here soon."

Li Yan nodded. "Then we won't wait for them. I plan to take you all with me to see the Fifth Base Chief. We'll discuss countermeasures and see how to deal with the mutated rats."

“Don’t we have a potion we’re researching? We can sell it to the Fifth Base,” Gu Qingqing said directly.

Li Yan looked at them and said, "I've thought about that too, but our base doesn't have many potions. If we give them all to the Fifth Base, we won't have any potions to give to the other bases."

Ye Yunxi pondered. The potion was something she and her master had researched together. As long as the Fifth Base agreed to provide the medicinal materials, she could help with this.

"Captain Li, if the potion is insufficient, I can make some for the Fifth Base. This potion was researched by my mentor and the others, so I naturally know its ingredients. Of course, this requires the Fifth Base's approval."

Li Yan thought for a moment and then said to Ye Yunxi.

At this moment, Chen Zhe and Zhang Jing came down together. The others looked at them meaningfully.

Assistant Liu from the Fifth Base also came over, greeted them with a smile, and said he would take them to see the base commander.

When the Fifth Base Commander saw Li Yan and his group arrive, he greeted them with a smile.

"Hello, welcome to all of you who have traveled from afar. My surname is Han, and I am the commander of the Fifth Base."

Li Yan and his group greeted the Fifth Base Commander politely.

"Good morning, Commander Han. I am Li Yan, the team leader from the First Base. These are Ye Yunxi, Fu Heng, Xuan Yu, Gu Qingqing, Zhang Haiyi, Lu Hengyi, Chen Zhe, and Zhang Jing."

Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng greeted Han, the base chief of the Fifth Base.

"Han greets the base commander!"

Commander Han greeted them with a smile.

"Hello, hello. Welcome!"
