Chen Zhe followed Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng to the place where they had just eaten.
Ye Yunxi sat down, and Fu Heng went to the kitchen and took out a set of bowls and chopsticks from his spatial storage. There were also two black bags, into which they put some supplies they had found, as well as a kayak.
Fu Heng brought out a bowl and chopsticks and handed them to Chen Zhe.
Chen Zhe took the bowl and chopsticks from Fu Heng and thanked him. "Thank you, Brother Heng."
Fu Heng nodded. "Where did you live before?"
"I live outside with those people from earlier, and I come out every day to look for supplies. By the way, Brother Heng, Sister Xi, I'll take you to where we used to live to get some supplies; there are still some there."
Chen Zhe thought for a moment and then said to Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng.
"Okay. Go get the supplies, then come back to base with us."
Ye Yunxi thought for a moment, and since she had already taken him in, she decided to take him back to the base and let him stay in the place where they used to live.
"Okay, thank you, Brother Heng, thank you, Sister Xi."
Chen Zhe was delighted to hear that Ye Yunxi was going to take him back to the base.
Fu Heng told him to eat quickly, as he and Ye Yunxi had already eaten enough and didn't need to eat anymore.
Chen Zhe picked up a piece of food from the hot pot, took a bite, and found it incredibly spicy and delicious—so good it made him want to cry. He realized how long it had been since he'd had hot pot, and it immediately reminded him of the time when his parents were still alive.
Those bastards, at the beginning of the apocalypse, ran to his house to steal his sister's supplies. When she refused, they grabbed her, beat her, and even killed her parents.
They outnumbered him and were armed with machetes. He couldn't fight them off and could only watch helplessly as his parents were murdered. He was powerless to save them.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng frowned. Why was he crying?
Fu Heng asked, "A Zhe, why are you crying?"
Chen Zhe only came to his senses when he heard Fu Heng's voice, realizing that he had been crying without knowing when. After wiping away his tears, he looked at Fu Heng.
"Brother Heng, Sister Xi, I'm sorry you had to laugh at me. I just haven't had hot pot in so long, it's really delicious."
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng felt that his crying was not because the hot pot was delicious, but because there was another reason. Since he did not want to talk about it, they did not feel comfortable asking.
After Chen Zhe finished eating the hot pot, Ye Yunxi took the bowls, chopsticks, hot pot, and other items to the kitchen, put them into her spatial storage, and then came out with her backpack.
He said to Chen Zhe, "Let's go, we'll search the building first, and then take us to the place you used to live."
"Okay, our accommodation isn't far from here, it's in the building up ahead."
"Heng-ge, Xi-jie, wait a moment, I'll go get their supplies."
After Chen Zhe finished speaking, he ran towards the people he had killed. Each of them had some supplies on them, as well as two kayaks, which their group had previously stolen. Chen Zhe took them all.
After Chen Zhe put it away, he turned to Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng and said, "Brother Heng, Sister Xi, we can go now."
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng nodded, picked up their backpacks, and had Chen Zhe follow them. They searched house by house, finding several generators, a box of unopened ham sausages, a box of hot pot base, and two 20-pound bags of rice.
Ye Yunxi didn't put the found supplies into her spatial storage. Instead, she took out a large snakeskin bag from her storage space and had Chen Zhe put all the supplies inside.
Chen Zhe nodded, packed all the supplies they found into a snakeskin bag, carried it on his back, and followed Ye Yunxi and the others down to the fourth floor.
Fu Heng took out a kayak from his bag, inflated it, and placed it in the water. The three of them then boarded the kayak.
After putting the snakeskin bag away, Chen Zhe took the initiative to row Ye Yunxi and the others to his previous residence.
Ten minutes later, they arrived in front of a building, and Chen Zhe turned to Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng and said.
"Brother Heng, Sister Xi, we've arrived at my place. Brother Heng, come up with me to get it. Sister Xi, please wait downstairs for a while."
Chen Zhe thought he should have Heng go with him to get it, since Xi was a girl, and he wanted her to wait for them downstairs.
Fu Heng and Ye Yunxi nodded. Fu Heng followed Chen Zhe upstairs to get the supplies, while Ye Yunxi waited.
Fu Heng and Chen Zhe went upstairs to a place that looked like a warehouse. They looked around warily to prevent any sneak attacks.
On the outer layer, there are signs that someone has lived there; there are some clothes, a makeshift bed, and so on.
Chen Zhe led Fu Heng to a hidden door, opened it, and found it filled with the supplies they had found. There weren't many: four bags of rice, three barrels of oil, pots and pans, some seasonings, and five barrels of mineral water.
Chen Zhe asked Fu Heng to help him move the supplies downstairs. The two of them made two trips back and forth before they finished moving all the supplies.
Ye Yunxi noticed that Banxia had a lot of supplies, and realized that one kayak wouldn't be enough.
When they were gone, he took out a kayak from his spatial storage, inflated it, and then took the supplies from Chen Zhe and Fu Heng and put them on another kayak.
When Fu Heng and Chen Zhe returned, there was an extra kayak. Chen Zhe didn't ask any questions. In his mind, as long as they acknowledged him as their leader, he wouldn't interfere even if something happened to them; protecting his own life was the most important thing.
When Ye Yunxi saw Chen Zhe come down, and then saw a kayak that appeared out of nowhere, she was a little surprised but didn't ask anything.
This aspect of his character pleased Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng greatly. Regardless of his character, they still needed to observe him more closely.
