Opening her eyes, Chen Hong was reborn. She was reborn just before she was about to take her children back to her parents' home. Not wanting to live a life of looking at others' faces for a...
The three of them were having dinner together. The father hadn't finished his glass of wine yet, and as he drank, he said to Chen Hong, "Look how lavish our meals are now. I never thought I'd be eating four dishes and a soup with my daughter."
Chen Hong said with a smile, "From now on, you should ask my mom to cook the dishes separately, instead of cooking everything in one pot. Then you'll be eating four dishes every day."
Dad smiled and said, "Your mom is busy every day, she doesn't have the patience! This is good enough, at least it tastes alright, I can eat it!"
"Grandpa, life needs a sense of ritual!" Yu Yang said to his grandfather.
Dad patted Yu Yang's head: "We don't understand any sense of ritual. As long as we can eat our fill and have good food, that's enough. In this life, there are only blessings we can't enjoy, not hardships we can't endure. Life used to be so hard, but we still got through it. Look how good life is now."
Chen Hong did not refute it. The older generation believed that being able to eat their fill and stay warm was a good life, and they wouldn't ask for too much.
Suddenly, I remembered something: "Dad, someone in our village works at a driving school and gave me a spot. You can go to the driving school and get your license when you have some free time. When you come home, I'll buy you a car for old men to drive."
Dad quickly shook his head, "Absolutely not. If you really buy it, your brother will just drive it around for fun and won't want to do any work."
You haven't even bought a car yet, earning money isn't easy, and you haven't even built your house yet. You still need to renovate it, buy furniture and appliances—there are so many things that will cost you money!
"That won't stop you from getting your certificate! I've already enrolled you. He called today and told you to go and learn the theory first, and it will take a while! Take advantage of the fact that you're not busy here and get your certificate first. You'll have to go out to work when you get home, so you won't have time then."
Dad was taken aback. "You've already registered. How much did you pay? I'll pay you back later."
"What are you giving me, Dad? You shouldn't go out to work anymore. You're almost sixty, it's time to rest. You and your brother should separate the family property and let them go out to work. If you keep doing this, he'll be relying on you when he's old. He's almost forty, how long are you going to take care of him?"
The father was also helpless: "Sigh, it's easy to divide the family property, but even if we divide the property, we can't rely on him to support us in our old age. Your mother and I also need to eat and drink, and we need money for social obligations!"
“Dad, whether you come home or stay, I will send you three thousand yuan every month. Don’t tell anyone, not even my mom, otherwise she will continue to subsidize my brother. Just save this money secretly and calculate the living expenses for my mom every day.”
Dad kept shaking his head: "That won't do. You're my daughter, and I don't need you to support me in my old age. I'll earn what I can, and if I can't, I'll ask you for more. I can't let you be the only one taking advantage of me."
After all her nagging had no effect, Chen Hong shut up. "Keep pulling, old ox, keep pushing, cart, keep pulling!"
Chen Hong, in a huff, stopped discussing the topic. After the three generations of the family finished eating, Chen Hong went to the kitchen to clean up. Yu Yang accompanied his grandfather during his bath; now, the two of them scrub each other's backs every night, finding enjoyment in bath time.
Dad doesn't like watching TV. He only watches the weather forecast and the CCTV news every day and isn't interested in anything else. After playing checkers with the child for a while, he took Yu Yang back to the room to rest.
Looking at the numerous packaging boxes filling her space, Chen Hong was troubled again. With her father at home, she basically dared not use the products in her space. The fruit trees had already been harvested once, and now they were in full bloom again.
The two durian trees yielded more than thirty fruits this time, each weighing over ten kilograms. Chen Hong even thought she had bought the wrong variety. She still hasn't had a chance to open them and taste them. Her father's eyes, ears, and nose are exceptionally sharp, and Chen Hong dares not be so clever as to let him see anything he shouldn't.
In a moment of impulsiveness, she picked all the durians, and now they've filled a whole large breeding box. These durians are so beautiful, she doesn't dare to eat a single bite. Chen Hong feels that things are too difficult for her!
The old tea trees are almost ready for harvest, and the honeysuckle has been blooming continuously, bursting into vibrant color. The dozen or so orchids by the river have all sprouted strong flower stalks, suggesting their blooms will be larger and better than their parent plants.
The blueberries and strawberries have been harvested several times already, and now Chen Hong roughly stores these delicate fruits in large plastic crates. Fortunately, this is the first harvest from these fruit trees, so the quantity isn't too large; otherwise, Chen Hong would be even more worried.
Even if we can't eat them, we still have to pick what needs to be picked, and we still have to do the work that needs to be done; we can't stop.
Both of these trips were to inland cities. Looking at the large aquaculture tanks scattered throughout the space, Chen Hong sighed. It was a pity that she hadn't gone to coastal cities, so she could have cleared out a batch of fish herself.
Just as I was worrying about this, I suddenly noticed several large fish laying eggs in several large fish tanks. My goodness!
Could they really be using this space as a breeding area? Chen Hong quickly grabbed a net and scooped the fish eggs into a new breeding tank; otherwise, their elders would eat them.
What a disaster! Chen Hong quickly checked each of the fish tanks, and sure enough, there were fish eggs in every tank. She scooped the eggs together and then separated all the pregnant fish about to lay eggs from the other tanks, just in case she missed them and they got eaten by the other fish. Chen Hong was on the verge of tears; she had turned her perfectly good space into a fishpond.
The next day, Chen Hong got up early, ate breakfast, and went to town to pick up the package, storing it in her spatial storage on the way. Carrying the beef, ribs, pork, and daily necessities she bought in town, she drove home. At noon, Chen Hong received a call informing her that the design drawings were ready and she needed to review them; if satisfied, they would be finalized.
In the afternoon, Chen Hong went to the design company to review the blueprints and offered suggestions based on advanced concepts from later generations. The designer and architect participated in revising the blueprints, discussing them throughout the afternoon until six o'clock when the revisions were finally completed. Chen Hong was satisfied with the final blueprints. A formal construction contract was then signed, confirming the decoration materials, project costs, and completion date.
