Juyan City.

As the sun sets and the cold wind howls, this place, though known as the capital of a country and a vital border town, has low city walls that are even less impressive than the walls of the courtyards of the powerful and wealthy within the city. There isn't even a city gate in the archway.

Two gaunt Juyan soldiers huddled together with their eyes closed in the doorway, trying to escape the cold wind.

"Boom!..."

The sudden sound of horses' hooves startled the two Juyan soldiers. They quickly stood up and looked north. A vast expanse of yellow sand swirled in the north, and the sound of hooves was coming from within that sand.

"Is that... one of our people returning?"

Upon seeing the large cavalry force faintly visible amidst the swirling yellow sand, the two Juyan soldiers stood frozen in shock.

Soon, the yellow sand swept by, and the Xiongnu cavalry led by the Left Wise King came into clear view of the two.

"These are... Huns!!"

An older Juyan soldier cried out in surprise upon seeing the other man's attire.

At this moment, the Xiongnu cavalry were less than 500 meters away from the gate of Juyan City. When they saw the two soldiers at the gate, the Xiongnu cavalrymen charging ahead immediately drew their bows and aimed at them.

"Run!!"

Upon seeing this, the older soldier shouted and then threw away his rusty weapon, turning and running back into the city, with another soldier following closely behind.

Even the Left Wise King was taken aback when he saw the two Juyan soldiers fleeing.

At this moment, the Xiongnu cavalry were only a hundred meters away from the city gate. Looking through the empty gate, they could clearly see the houses of the residents inside the city, and wisps of smoke were rising from many of the houses.

The Left Wise King in front drew his curved sword and shouted loudly:

"Warriors, follow me into the city!!"

The group of Xiongnu cavalry shouted in unison, and with excited expressions, they followed the Left Wise King straight into the city.

"The Huns are coming!!"

The two fleeing Juyan soldiers ran towards the palace, shouting as they went.

The Juyan people who heard the two shouts had just poked their heads out when they saw a large cavalry charge coming towards them. Before they could react, they saw a flash of swords and heads were already on the ground.

The other villagers were so frightened that they quickly closed their doors and windows and hid inside their houses, trembling.

Meanwhile, at a banquet in the Juyan Palace, King Tuoqi of Juyan was holding a wine cup, watching with great interest as more than a dozen singing girls danced gracefully in the center of the banquet.

Suddenly, Tuo Qi felt a sharp pain in his abdomen, as if his internal organs were being ripped apart. In an instant, Tuo Qi's face turned deathly pale, and the veins on his forehead bulged out.

"Clang!"

The wine glass fell to the ground, and Tuo Qi clutched his stomach in pain and fell backward.

"Your Majesty...!"

Upon seeing this, one of Tuo Qi's attendants exclaimed in surprise and quickly bent down to check the situation.

At this moment, Tuo Qi was foaming at the mouth, his eyes were rolling back, and his limbs were twitching uncontrollably, clearly a sign that he had been poisoned.

The two Juyan soldiers running ahead saw the closed palace gates, turned around and saw the Xiongnu soldiers who had rushed up to them. Their eyes were filled with fear and despair.

"Pfft~ Pfft~!"

As the sound of two sharp blades piercing flesh rang out, two Juyan soldiers clutched their necks and collapsed to the ground.

"Whoa!"

The Left Wise King, who had rushed to the vicinity of the palace, reined in his horse and looked at the gate tower, which was no more than three people high, and the palace walls, which were no more than two people high.

"Ha! Throw those heads in there!!"

The Left Wise King sneered, and his Xiongnu cavalrymen untied the heads of the Juyan soldiers from their horses and threw them into the Juyan Palace.

"What... what is this?"

Seeing the heads falling into the palace like raindrops, the palace guards were terrified!

"Go tell your king to open the gates and surrender immediately, or else once the gates are breached, not a single chicken or dog will be spared!!"

Just as the guards were filled with fear, a loud shout from the Left Wise King brought them back to their senses, and one of the guards hurriedly turned around and ran into the palace.

The guards who ran to the vicinity of the banquet hall heard the screams coming from inside and their expressions changed. They quickly ran inside.

When the guard ran into the hall, the sight inside made him break out in a cold sweat, and the hairs on his body stood on end.

"Who...who made this??"

Seeing the horrific deaths of their king and hundreds of officials and nobles, the guards were so frightened that their lips turned white and their eyes went limp.

Soon, news that the King of Juyan and a group of officials and nobles had all been poisoned reached the ears of several palace guards.
