Transmigrated to the 1960s, Li Chu only wanted to lay low and live a safe, peaceful life.
...It seems that Li Chu usually spoils his children quite a bit, but he always teaches them principles of life while they are playing around.
Another thing is to tell stories to the children every day.
Ding Qiunan sometimes wondered where he had heard so many stories, since she had never heard any of them herself.
Moreover, those stories contained many profound truths, which she listened to with great interest.
She wrote down many stories, and Li Chu told her to keep them safe so that they could be published in the future and more children could see them.
After playfully bathing the two children, Ding Qiunan tossed them onto the bed and read them a bedtime story. Then, she lay on the sofa with her head resting on her husband's lap.
"Li Chu, does the daycare center at this hospital accept children from outside the community?"
Why did you suddenly ask that?
"Xiao'e asked me about it a few days ago, I almost forgot." Ding Qiunan cutely stuck out her tongue.
"What, she wants to send Yangyang over there?"
"Yes, the child is already three years old. She and Damao have discussed it and are planning to send the child to daycare, but she wants to stay with our child."
"Don't they have these at their factory? Why not deliver them to the factory? It's more convenient, and we know them all."
Xiao'e said that Damao felt the factory's nursery was poorly managed.
That's for sure. The hospital staff are mostly children of intellectuals, so their family education is definitely much better than that of the rough and uncultured workers in the factory.
This isn't meant to be disrespectful to anyone; it's just the truth, and even the main hospital's daycare center can't compare in this respect.
"I'll ask when I drop the kids off tomorrow morning, but it's not certain it will work out."
“I know, that’s what I told her too.”
"By the way, honey, when you went to see Jiang Li at the courtyard house the other day, what's the situation between her and Sixth Brother now?"
Ding Qiunan reached out and touched her husband's abs. She liked to touch them most when she had nothing to do. Perhaps she felt uncomfortable touching them through his clothes, so she lifted his clothes up, put her hand inside, closed her eyes slightly, and showed a satisfied expression on her face.
Hearing her husband's question, she thought for a moment before saying, "I heard from Xiaoli that it seems Sixth Brother's idea is that once he finds a house, they will get married."
After pausing, Ding Qiunan continued, "I don't know what Sixth Brother is thinking. The house here is fine, why does he have to find another one?"
"It must be a man's pride."
"What a ridiculous sense of pride!" Ding Qiunan curled her lip: "Sixth Brother only cares about his own face. Why doesn't he think about Xiaoli and the child? I don't believe he can find a house better than ours. It will definitely be inconvenient for us to live in."
Li Chu shrugged and reached out to stroke his wife's smooth face.
"What can we do? Everyone has their own ideas. We can't force others to live with us."
Wu Xiaoliu had mentioned this before, and he had tried to persuade him, but it was clear that it had no effect.
"Hey, Li Chu, I heard that they're planning to build a new building for the hospital here?"
Li Chu chuckled inwardly, thinking how good his wife was at changing the subject.
"Yes, we've been talking about it for years. I even registered before, but I didn't expect it to be only now that we're preparing to start construction."
"Ah... if we don't get transferred, will we be able to get one too?"
"What are you thinking about?" Li Chu gently flicked her forehead.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch." Ding Qiunan reached out and pinched his stomach, but he didn't react at all.
“We have houses, so the hospital should definitely give priority to employees who don’t have houses.”
"Oh, I thought since we're both employed, we'd definitely get some."
Li Chu reached out and picked her up, letting her sit in his lap.
"What are you doing? I was lying down perfectly fine." Ding Qiunan squirmed unhappily in his arms.
"It's comfortable holding you like this." As he spoke, his hands became restless, and with a "whoosh," they slipped inside his wife's clothes.
"Hmph, I knew you were up to no good!"
"Hehe, this feels so comfortable." Li Chu smiled smugly at his wife.
"Ugh, take your hand off."
Despite saying that, Ding Qiunan still adjusted her posture and cooperated.
The young couple snuggled together, chatting idly about everyday matters.
"By the way, Li Chu, when you went to class at noon today, Aunt Wang called and asked me to come over this Sunday. She said Xiaobing is back, and Junzi and Qiaoyun will also be back."
"Xiaobing is back?" Li Chu asked in surprise upon hearing the news.
"Yes, that's what Aunt Wang said."
"Goodness, he's finally back. He's been gone for eight years, and this is the first time he's come back."
Ding Qiunan smiled and said, "Didn't Uncle Wang say that if I don't become a cadre, I won't be allowed to come back?"
"Haha, Uncle Wang is too strict with the three brothers." Li Chu laughed heartily as he said this.
"Where is the third brother serving in the army?"
"Xiao Zhan is..." Li Chu paused here.
Seeing the questioning look in his wife's eyes, he thought for a moment and then said, "Xiao Zhan is in the Northwest. He's in the same unit as Jia Dong, but they went there earlier. Jia Dong and his group went there later."
"The third brother and Jia Dong are in the same unit?" Ding Qiunan asked again in surprise.
Li Chu nodded.
"What do they do? I noticed you guys don't seem to talk about them."
After thinking about it, he decided to tell them anyway. The experiment had already been successful and published in the newspapers, so it didn't have to be kept secret like before.
"The daily newspaper published two special editions, one in 1964 and the other in June of this year. Did you know that, honey?"
"I know, there are some in the study, aren't there? You even made special frames to put them in." Ding Qiunan felt her husband was acting strangely. What was she asking? How did it all come up with the daily newspaper?
"Xiao Zhan and Jia Dong's troops are right there."
"What did you say?" Ding Qiunan's voice rose more than eight octaves.
"Shh! Shh!" Li Chu quickly covered her mouth.
"Keep your voice down, don't wake the child."
Her shout woke up all four dogs, who howled out of their dens.
Xiao Hei ran straight to the living room doorway, warily eyeing the tightly closed door, sniffing the air.
Xiao Bai and Xiao Hua ran to the sofa and looked at their two owners. Even Xiao Huang came over.
"Look at your shout, you startled the dog."
Ding Qiunan smiled shyly, sat up straight from her husband's lap, reached out and patted the heads of the three dogs, then called Xiao Hei over and patted its head as well.
"Alright, you four, nothing's wrong. Go back to your nests and continue sleeping."
He waved his hand, shooing all four dogs back to their den.
