In her previous life, Lin Chuchu was framed by her aunt and uncle, lost her job, and spent her entire life working as their family's servant.
However, her father was a martyr, and her mot...
Lin Chuchu originally thought she would be working with a few people to research something new, but unfortunately, she didn't get to do it because the base commander sent over a bunch of translated manuscripts.
"Comrade Lin, these things are very important. I'll prepare an office for you. Please translate them as soon as possible."
"If you need anything, just tell me, and I'll find it for you."
Lin Chuchu nodded, "Okay, I'll go translate now."
The translated manuscripts that were delivered to Lin Chuchu were all extremely important and absolutely confidential.
Lin Chuchu arrived at a separate office. The office was small, with three boxes on the floor.
There's a table, a lamp, a fan, and a bed for temporary rest.
If she hadn't just asked the commander, she would have thought she was going to stay here.
Although Lin Chuchu wasn't afraid of working overtime, she definitely didn't want to leave late if she could leave work on time.
The guard poured her a cup of tea, then took the teapot to boil water. After boiling the water, he sat at the office door and guarded it, not letting anyone in.
There were fountain pens, ink, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, and of course, a large stack of draft paper on the table.
This feeling is like returning to my days in Beijing, when there were endless translations to be done every day.
Shaking her head to clear her mind of all other thoughts, Lin Chuchu picked up a translation and began to read it.
This one is in English, so it's not too difficult. With the help of space, it can be completed quickly.
Looking at the tightly closed door and the guard sitting at the door, who was watching her intently, Tang Xin didn't dare to disturb them, no matter how curious she was.
After all, there are too many things here that are not classified, so confidentiality agreements have to be signed at the drop of a hat.
Lin Chuchu buried herself in her work until noon. Not wanting to go out, she asked her guard to bring her some food back.
Outside, it was still bustling and lively, but Lin Chuchu's office was very quiet. In such a working environment, work efficiency was very high.
I finished three more translations in one afternoon.
When Lin Chuchu was leaving get off work that evening, she saw Tang Xin crying again.
Normally, you might encounter one or two men who feel sorry for a woman and offer some words of comfort, but those who do scientific research are mostly straight men.
I just glanced at her casually, thought to myself how poor a woman's mental fortitude was, and then turned away, ignoring her.
Even Lin Chuchu felt the urge to go back to the office and work overtime.
She timed her departure perfectly, so how did she end up with Tang Xin?
Just as she was about to reach the elevator, Lin Chuchu abruptly turned a corner and headed towards their office.
Tang Xin's facial muscles twitched as she saw Lin Chuchu's movements, glaring fiercely at her.
Lin Chuchu didn't care about her. Now the whole research lab knew that the two had fallen out. It was already kind of Lin Chuchu not to go up and provoke her.
After knocking on the door and hearing someone inside say "come in," Lin Chuchu went inside.
Upon seeing that it was Lin Chuchu, Researcher Tian chuckled and teased, "Why go back to your own office? Why go back to your room?"
Lin Chuchu shrugged. "Who knows if you guys are doing anything secretive? If I see you doing it, I won't be able to explain myself no matter what."
The joking tone clearly refers to the incident where Tang Xin caught her husband cheating.
Zhou Lichen frowned and said helplessly, "Can we not bring up that matter from before?"
It's fine to have a scandal with Lin Chuchu, but he really doesn't want to get involved with that brainless woman, Tang Xin.
The group suppressed a laugh and coughed.
Lin Chuchu said to the group, "Let's go eat. I saw Tang Xin get on the elevator just now."
Tang Xin alone made several people avoid her like the plague, preferring to go to the cafeteria later.
"Let's go, I'm starving."
"I wonder what good food the cafeteria has tonight."
None of them mentioned Tang Xin again, nor did they ask her what happened or why she was crying.
In short, I don't want to have anything to do with Tang Xin.
Although I missed Tang Xin when we went up the elevator, I still managed to see her in the cafeteria.
Her eyes lit up when she saw Zhou Lichen, and she immediately moved closer, looking aggrieved.
"Comrade Zhou, could you please talk to the section chief and transfer me to your office? I don't get along with the others."
What she didn't say was that because she wasn't serious about her work and was often criticized, plus she liked to slack off at work, several of her colleagues had to quit.
Zhou Lichen pretended not to hear, let alone show any pity.
What a joke! The research lab isn't his personal property. He's just a newcomer; who does he think he can call the shots?
Besides, he couldn't possibly bring this troublesome guy to the office; if he did, those three guys would definitely ignore him.
Including Lin Chuchu.
Tang Xin was so angry that she stomped her feet. She was furious that Zhou Lichen wouldn't even listen to her.
Lin Chuchu had already gone to get food when Zhou Lichen was stopped. There were eight people in their office, just enough for two tables, and they didn't want to just add someone else.
Tang Xin saw that no one paid attention to her, and others were even quietly watching the commotion. Even her bodyguards were sitting aside eating their meals, showing no intention of comforting her.
The guards are only there to protect the researchers; they're not Tang Xin's father or boyfriend, so why should they interfere with her?
Tang Xin took a deep breath and insisted on finishing the food in the lunchbox before returning to her dormitory. As she left, she glared fiercely at Lin Chuchu.
Researcher Tian noticed this and, seeing her expression, said to the group, "How could Comrade Tang be so thoughtless? How many people did she offend with those few words?"
Lin Chuchu snorted coldly, "It's not that she's brainless, it's that she has too much brain. She spends the extra part on her personal relationships and doesn't think about work at all."
