The officer took a deep breath, a kind smile on his face.

"...Researchers, the enemy outside has been dealt with. It is safe now. Please come out."

The researcher inside remained silent for a long time before cautiously asking, "Sir, why is there still the sound of artillery shells? Could the enemy have invaded?"

The room was completely sealed, but even so, you could clearly feel the ground trembling beneath your feet.

The researchers were all weak and helpless, and they had long been huddled together in fear. The more successful and accomplished a person was, the more afraid they were of death.

So when they heard it was safe outside, they were the first to disbelieve it.

The officer cursed under his breath and gave his subordinates a signal. They piled up bombs in front of the door, preparing to break it down by force.

The officer continued to speak occasionally, his voice gentle, but he was quick to give orders to everyone.

Just as they were about to fire at the bomb, several ropes suddenly descended from above, and while they were in mid-air, they started firing machine guns down at them.

"Enemy! Enemy attack! Protect the commander!"

In the chaos, some people ran towards their superior, trying to protect him.

Unfortunately, they were no match for a bullet, and their speed revealed their commander's position.

A Chinese soldier shot a foreign officer through the wrist; the pistol fell to the ground, and the officer screamed in agony.

China had no intention of leaving any survivors and shot everyone else dead.

Soon, the battle ended, and the commander arrived at the laboratory entrance. Looking up, he could see the dim sky through the gaps in the leaves, and the raindrops outside couldn't reach the cave at all.

"These people certainly know how to find a place."

The leader looked at the laboratory door; the rest of the area had been occupied, and now only the laboratory remained.

“Shout inside and tell them that we are Chinese soldiers, and that as long as they come out, we can protect them and their families.”

If the researchers could be captured alive and put to use by China, it would be an enormous benefit for China.

Someone started speaking to the researchers in a foreign language. When the people inside realized that the people outside were Chinese, their first reaction was fear and terror.

Seeing no response for a while, the commander said, "Tell them that if we hadn't come, the bomb at the door would have detonated. Their superior was planning to kill us to cover it up."
