Reborn in the 70s as an Educated Youth

In her previous life, Lin Chuchu was framed by her aunt and uncle, lost her job, and spent her entire life working as their family's servant.

However, her father was a martyr, and her mot...

Chapter 2 Building a Separate House

The train smelled bad, and there were loud voices with various accents. Lin Chuchu was lucky; the people sitting next to her were also educated youth: a chubby guy with a funny smile and a tall, thin, and handsome guy.

Seeing that she was all alone and looked quite young, the two men took good care of her and even helped her fetch water.

Brother Zheng gave her a lot of food, including coarse flour steamed buns and a few eggs.

After taking the water bottle, Lin Chuchu quickly thanked them and took out a few candies from the bag, handing them to the two of them.

"Thank you both!"

The chubby boy accepted it without hesitation, and asked with a smile, "Where is Comrade Lin going to the countryside? Why did you set off so late?"

Lin Chuchu took a sip of hot water and answered slowly and deliberately.

"Something came up at home, so I didn't have to go to the countryside. That's why I came out late."

The chubby boy's surname was Liu, and his name was Liu Rong. The tall and thin boy was named Mu Chen. They were all educated youth from Heilongjiang Province. When the three of them asked each other, they found out that they were from the same commune.

Mu Chen listened to the two talking but didn't interrupt much. His expression was somewhat indifferent, not directed at anyone in particular, but rather he wore the same expression on everyone's face.

Because Liu Rong was fat, not many people crowded around their seats, which made it better than the other seats.

Unable to bear it any longer, Lin Chuchu went to the restroom to wash up quickly.

At each stop, people would get on, until the train was so crowded that it was impossible to move.

Mu Chen fetched hot water for everyone, moving freely through the crowd without anyone knowing how.

On the train, there are people to talk and chat with, so I'm not lonely anymore.

Finally arriving at their destination, with two people protecting her, Lin Chuchu was able to get off the train.

She was leaning on her knees, panting heavily.

This is a major station, and many people are getting off the train, mostly former educated youth. As they walked out with the crowd, a few young men next to me muttered to themselves.

"Why do you have so much stuff? Look at us, we only have two or three packages each."

"Yeah, what are you carrying? It's so heavy."

A girl said softly, "I'm so sorry, comrades. My family was worried that I wouldn't be used to being here, so they prepared a lot of things. I'll treat you to a meal at a state-run restaurant another day."

The voice was soft, and Lin Chuchu and Liu Rong couldn't help but look over. They saw a fair-skinned girl apologizing with a face full of remorse.

He suddenly couldn't utter a word of complaint.

In stark contrast, a girl next to her, dressed plainly with patches on her clothes and wearing braids, stood out.

She looked timid, not daring to look up, her lips tightly pressed together, as if she wanted to shrink herself to the back.

Lin Chuchu didn't pay much attention and quickly withdrew her head.

As soon as we exited the station, people from various communes were waiting, calling out to us every now and then.

Lin Chuchu followed behind Mu Chen and Liu Rong. Mu Chen carried two packages, while Liu Rong carried three packages: one in each hand, one on his back, and one small bag in front of his chest.

It's said that it's filled with all kinds of food.

The three of them were from the same place and the same village. They arrived at the commune and handed over their educated youth registration forms.

After the captain checked, he waved his hand impatiently.

"Get on the bus and wait, not everyone's here yet."

The vehicle was a tractor, which meant that the conditions in the rural area were quite good, with horse-drawn carts and donkey carts nearby.

Soon, three more people got on the bus. Meng Wanyin's eyes lit up when she saw Mu Chen, and she pulled Wang Zhaodi over.

She extended her hand to Lin Chuchu and said, "Hello little sister, I am Meng Wanyin and this is Wang Zhaodi. From now on, we will be from the same village. Please take care of me."

His attitude was very generous and open.

Lin Chuchu realized what was happening, extended her hand and shook hands with her, "Hello, my name is Lin Chuchu."

The girls started talking first, and the three boys next to them introduced themselves. The last man to come up was named Lu Zhengrong.

"Little Chuchu, how old are you this year? Why did you come to be a sent-down youth? Where are you from?"

Lin Chuchu didn't understand why this person was so enthusiastic, but she still answered all her questions.

“I’m 16 years old this year. There’s no one left in my family, so I thought I’d contribute to the country and that’s why I came here to be an educated youth.”

Lin Chuchu was unwilling to elaborate, only saying that she was an orphan.

"Oh, I'm sorry, sister, I didn't mean it."

Meng Wanyin apologized with a look of remorse in her eyes.

Lin Chuchu shook her head indifferently.

There was a moment of silence, then the group started chatting again.

Once everyone was present, the tractor wobbled and swayed back.

The captain and the driver were talking.

Soon, we arrived at the village. The village had a beautiful environment, nestled against the mountains and beside the water, and some families even lived in brick and tile houses.

"Get off the bus, we've arrived at the educated youth settlement."

The brigade leader coldly ordered everyone to get off the bus. There were already eight educated youths, and now six more have arrived, making the educated youth settlement almost full.

Honestly, what's the point of bringing in a bunch of people who can't carry anything, can't do any work, and are just lazy and slackers?

The village party secretary was already waiting at the educated youth settlement. He explained the daily work hours and precautions before leaving.

The older educated youth, however, refused to accept this.

"Secretary, the educated youth settlement is so small, how can everyone stay? We can't just have them sleep on the floor!"

“That’s right, Party Secretary. After a day’s work, we don’t even dare to turn over in bed when we get back.”

The educated youth settlement was very small, with only two rooms. The larger room housed five male educated youths, and the smaller room housed three female educated youths. Even if one or two more could sleep in the smaller room, there was still no room for three.

Given Liu Rong's large size, they were all afraid that he might roll over and crush someone to death.

The disdainful look from the other person infuriated Liu Rong, and he patted his stomach.

"What, you're disgusted with me? I didn't want to live with you guys anyway."
