Reborn in the 70s as an Educated Youth

In her previous life, Lin Chuchu was framed by her aunt and uncle, lost her job, and spent her entire life working as their family's servant.

However, her father was a martyr, and her mot...

Chapter 22 Going to the Capital

The people in the state-run restaurant, seeing a large group of people suddenly arrive, thought they were there to cause trouble.

Upon learning that they were military personnel, and that two of them were leaders and political commissars, the staff dared not be negligent and immediately and warmly invited them to sit down and asked the chef to prepare some of his signature dishes.

Some guests who originally wanted to come in hesitated and lingered at the door for a while before leaving.

The leader brought out several bottles of good wine and poured them for the experts and several men present, while Lin Chuchu remained seated at the same table with their leader.

The boss even asked her if she could drink alcohol. Lin Chuchu couldn't drink, but she would try to persuade others to drink.

She greeted the leader with a smile, and while the leader drank alcohol, she drank water, thus managing to get a drink from him.

Then the others did the same.

Mu Chen kept an eye on Lin Chuchu, worried that she might get drunk after being persuaded. Even after everyone else had passed out, Lin Chuchu calmly drank water and ate food, even packing up the food she had barely touched, since wasting food is shameful.

The guards dared not drink, so they took on the task of escorting the drunkard back home.

Looking at Lin Chuchu's beaming face, Mu Chen smiled indulgently, "Don't urge them to drink like that next time. The experts are getting old after all."

If something bad happens after drinking it, it will not only be a loss for the country, but it will also bring trouble to Lin Chuchu.

Lin Chuchu blinked innocently, then smiled slyly, "I was just seeing the uncles and elders having a good time. Don't worry, Brother Mu Chen, I won't do it again next time."

The next day, when they woke up, the senior experts were leaving. The leader specifically asked Lin Chuchu to see them off. The two experts were quite reluctant to part with them, after all, there were too few young girls as capable as her.

Lin Chuchu said goodbye to the two and walked back with Mu Chen. When they returned to the translation department, they immediately saw Liu Zixuan standing at the entrance of the translation department, crying and sobbing.

She didn't expect that after taking a few days off, she wouldn't be able to go back to the translation department, and there were armed soldiers at the door blocking her from entering.

After the soldiers left, she finally returned to work, only to be informed by Old Song that she had been fired.

"Section Chief, please, please plead for me. I really can't lose this job."

The area was crowded with people, but they all kept their heads down and didn't say a word, secretly watching the spectacle.

Old Song remained expressionless and stopped scolding, since he only had the right to scold those in the translation department.

"Go back now. Your dismissal is a decision made by your superiors, and there's no way to change it. If all else fails, you can go and plead with them yourself."

He had tolerated this person who didn't take his job seriously and only cared about dressing up all day. He had finally gotten rid of this plague after a long time.

When Old Song saw Lin Chuchu standing in the crowd, he immediately greeted her with a smile, "Chuchu's here, come in quickly, it's too cold outside."

This different attitude infuriated Liu Zixuan. She glared at Lin Chuchu with red eyes and pointed at her, cursing.

"Lin Chuchu, is that you? You lost my job because you were jealous of me, didn't you?"

Lin Chuchu laughed, but her smile was somewhat cold. "What am I jealous of? Am I jealous that you don't work hard? Am I jealous that you married a regimental commander? So you'll be an official's wife from now on?"

"This is a new era. We don't follow the capitalist way anymore. Working people are the most glorious. I work, and I am proud."

Lin Chuchu raised her chin slightly, her face full of righteous indignation.

There were even people cheering them on.

"Yes, are there still people who look down on us working people?"

"How did she get into the army? Was she a capitalist before? It's really annoying, isn't anyone going to anonymously report her?"

Liu Zixuan never expected that Lin Chuchu's single sentence would change the course of events.

"Lin Chuchu, you're talking nonsense. I didn't think that way at all. Don't frame me."

Lin Chuchu said nonchalantly, "You started it by saying that to me. So what? You can say whatever you want to me, but I can't talk back?"

Lin Chuchu couldn't be bothered to waste her breath on someone who didn't know what was going on.

Walking straight into the translation department, I was pleasantly surprised to find one less troublemaker around; the air felt much fresher.

Liu Zixuan was anonymously reported for having problematic thoughts and conduct. Subsequently, her uncle was investigated for many things, such as the death of the previous regimental commander.

Liu Zixuan's uncle was shot, and the family's reputation plummeted. Her aunt and family were forced to return to their hometown, and it became difficult for their children to join the army. Even good jobs were out of reach for them.

Liu Zixuan married the old regimental commander. The old regimental commander had no choice but to marry her, since he had submitted a report; not marrying her would be considered indecent.

The leader is remarried; his previous wife left him with two children. He has a mischievous personality, dislikes Liu Zixuan, and targets her at every turn.

Lin Chuchu didn't pay much attention to Liu Zixuan's misfortune, and continued to focus on her work and studies every day.

As September approached and the weather grew hotter, Mu Chen remained her bodyguard, a commitment that had never wavered.

On September 13th, Lin Chuchu received a transfer order from Beijing.

The research department in Beijing established a translation division and specifically asked Lin Chuchu to go there.

Old Song was very reluctant to part with her, because Lin Chuchu was capable, had a good personality, and was conscientious and responsible. With her departure, they had indeed lost a great talent.

Lin Chuchu didn't expect to leave early; she thought she wouldn't be able to go back until after the college entrance exam.

"It's a good thing that you should work hard over there. With your abilities, you'll definitely be able to establish yourself in Beijing."

Lin Chuchu nodded, though she was somewhat surprised.

On the way back, Lin Chuchu was somewhat silent, while Mu Chen kept his head down, seemingly lost in thought.

Getting a letter of introduction, buying a train ticket, and then going to Beijing would take about half a month.

Time was tight, and there were many things to take care of. The radio was small and could be taken with me, but the fan and sewing machine couldn't be taken.

The only people she was close to here were Mu Chen and Sister Wang, so she asked Mu Chen first if he wanted some.

Mu Chen shook his head and hesitated before saying, "I have to go to the capital with you. I also have a transfer assignment. My position will still be your bodyguard, but I will be leading a unit."
