In her previous life, Lin Chuchu was framed by her aunt and uncle, lost her job, and spent her entire life working as their family's servant.
However, her father was a martyr, and her mot...
Grandma and Grandpa went to sleep quickly, leaving only Mu's mother and Lin Chuchu.
Mother Mu's idea was to give the management rights to Lin Chuchu. Lin Chuchu was initially reluctant, but was later persuaded by Mother Mu.
“I know what you’re worried about – that the government won’t release you. But I think that once you have this operating right, you’ll have a powerful backer when you make money in the future.”
“You will still be involved in translation in the future. If the country wants to frame you again as before, when you have enough money and enough influence, the country will have to think twice before taking action.”
Moreover, she genuinely felt that Chu Chu didn't like being confined to an office.
Translation work, drawing design drafts, occasionally designing something—wouldn't it be great to have such freedom?
Lin Chuchu was indeed persuaded, so she submitted the list in her own name.
When the principal found out, he even tried to persuade her.
"Chuchu, think this over carefully. If you have this sole proprietorship right now, it will be very difficult for you to get a political career in the future."
Lin Chuchu knew this, of course, but she wasn't cut out for politics. "Principal, I've thought it through. I won't go into politics, and I never will."
The application form was submitted, and then it was just a matter of waiting.
If it were Mu's mother who applied, it wouldn't have been that difficult.
But when it came to Lin Chuchu, the higher-ups split into two factions. One faction felt that a talented translator like Lin Chuchu shouldn't be in the public eye so often.
What if enemy spies find out and try to bribe Lin Chuchu with sweet words?
The other side had a completely different idea, and thought it was a good thing, as Lin Chuchu's status as a self-employed individual was enough to cover up her sharpness.
If you have money, why would you care about the sugar-coated bullets from spies?
The two sides argued endlessly and could not reach a decision.
Mu Chen has been very busy lately and hasn't been back for several days. I wonder what mission he's on.
Mu's mother was worried about him and often talked about him to Lin Chuchu.
"Why does Mu Chen have to choose a police academy? I was always worried sick when he went on missions before. I'll be even more worried when he becomes a policeman."
Lin Chuchu couldn't respond because this was Mu Chen's dream. Mu Chen wanted to be a useful person to the country. Since he couldn't be a soldier to protect the country, he would be a policeman to protect the people.
Mu's mother went to the kitchen to wash the fruit, and Lin Chuchu stared blankly at the ground.
She was worried, but she couldn't show it to her family.
Two days later, when she returned to her own doorstep, Lin Chuchu immediately saw two people standing at the door.
If the other party hadn't looked so upright and hadn't shown his police ID, Lin Chuchu would have almost cried for help.
An older policeman glanced at Lin Chuchu's stomach and said, "Hello, Comrade Lin, I'm Mu Chen's colleague. I'm here to ask you to come to the hospital with us."
Lin Chuchu's heart skipped a beat. "What happened to Mu Chen? Is he injured? Where is he injured?"
She said anxiously, her voice filled with panic.
"He was injured in the abdomen while on a mission, but don't worry, he's out of danger now and has woken up."
Seeing that the person was about to faint, the old policeman quickly explained.
He regretted it a little; he should have told Mu Chen's parents.
Mu Chen absolutely refused to let them inform his family, but since such a serious incident had happened to Mu Chen, they had to let his family know.
After much deliberation, she decided to tell Mu Chen's lover, Lin Chuchu.
They originally thought that Lin Chuchu was young and would be able to handle things calmly when something happened, but they forgot to consider that Lin Chuchu was pregnant.
Lin Chuchu took a few deep breaths, forcing herself to calm down.
"Wait for me a moment, I'm going to see my mom and tell her I won't be going to the old house for the next few days."
"Comrade Lin, please proceed."
The two houses were not far apart. Lin Chuchu took a deep breath at the door before entering the yard.
Mu Chen, lying in the hospital bed, woke up from his sleep and saw someone sitting by his bedside. At first, he thought it was a colleague, but then he realized it was Lin Chuchu peeling an apple.
Mu Chen swallowed hard, inwardly cursing his unreliable colleagues.
He asked cautiously, "Chuchu, when did you arrive? Have you had dinner? Did the baby cry?"
Lin Chuchu glanced at her calmly and continued peeling the apple.
"I'm sorry, Chuchu, it was my fault. I shouldn't have let myself get hurt."
Mu Chen promptly apologized.
Lin Chuchu said "Oh," and then asked, "Anything else?"
Seeing Mu Chen's bewildered expression.
Lin Chuchu angrily shoved the peeled apple into his mouth.
“Your biggest mistake was not telling me. We are husband and wife. I need to know what's going on with you as soon as possible, not through other people.”
Lin Chuchu's voice choked with sobs, her eyes red-rimmed, her heart filled with lingering fear.
I'm afraid something will happen to him, afraid he'll die, afraid he'll disappear one day and I won't even be able to see him one last time.
Mu Chen took the apple out of his mouth and held her hand.
"I'm sorry, Chuchu, I was wrong. How about you hit me a couple of times?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Chuchu looked like a cat with its fur standing on end.
"Let me hit you? Don't you know how badly you're injured? Do you want me to become a widow at such a young age?"
Mu Chen realized he had said the wrong thing and kept apologizing.
"I was wrong, Chuchu, please forgive me."
He wasn't afraid of anything except Lin Chuchu getting angry and being disappointed in her.
Lin Chuchu was furious and pinched Mu Chen's hand.
Mu Chen gasped in pain.
“This can’t be kept secret. I can stay away from my mom for a day or two, but if it’s more than three days, she’ll definitely worry.”
