Reborn in the 70s as an Educated Youth

In her previous life, Lin Chuchu was framed by her aunt and uncle, lost her job, and spent her entire life working as their family's servant.

However, her father was a martyr, and her mot...

Chapter 75 Leave of Absence

Two days later, after Lin Chuchu got out of school, Mu's father was home, which was rare for him.

"Dad, are you getting off work so early today?"

Lin Chuchu greeted her father first, and then greeted her maternal grandparents who came out of the room.

The twins are already three years old. As soon as they see their mother, they rush over to her.

Mr. Mu gave a muffled "hmm," his face devoid of a smile, and he looked somewhat worried.

Lin Chuchu became curious and, while helping her grandmother pick vegetables, she sized up Mu's father.

"Dad, what's wrong? Are you in a bad mood? Did something happen at work?"

Mr. Mu sighed, "My boss called me today and said I'm getting old, asking if I want to apply for unpaid leave!"

If you are on unpaid leave, you will only receive half of your salary. Once you reach retirement age, you will be able to receive a monthly pension.

Lin Chuchu was taken aback, then smiled and said, "Dad, this is a good thing. Your class is too busy, and you're getting old. Why don't you come down and help Mom if you don't have anything to do?"

Mr. Mu hesitated, “But… if I don’t have a job, I won’t have that much salary, and I’ll lose face in front of your mother.”

Mr. Mu's thinking is a bit old-fashioned. His wife has a job, but he doesn't, which makes him feel embarrassed in front of his wife.

Lin Chuchu chuckled, "Dad, isn't the money Mom earns also yours? If you can't stand it, you can drive. Don't you have a driver's license? You can help Mom go to the clothing factory to buy goods."

“When the store doesn’t need you, you can deliver goods for others and earn quite a bit each month, maybe even more than you would earn working a regular job.”

Mr. Mu was tempted, and his maternal grandparents also chimed in, saying, "Actually, it's quite nice to stay here; it's a good opportunity to keep the grandson company."

That was just talk; Mr. Mu couldn't stand it.

"What about the truck? It's so hard to get a truck these days."

Mr. Mu sighed.

"Dad, why don't you ask my older brother? If others can't get it, he might have a way."

Yeah, we can ask the boss. He runs a freight company and travels around a lot; maybe he can find a suitable truck.

Having made up his mind, Mr. Mu's mood improved considerably.

"I'll call and ask them in a bit. Humph, they want my position, how can they do it without paying a price?"

Lin Chuchu frowned. Had the higher-ups received some information?

That's not right. Shouldn't the mass layoffs have occurred around 1989?

When Lin Chuchu asked this question, Mu's father sneered, "We've all received the letter. We're too old, our thinking can't keep up, and people look down on us."

Lin Chuchu sighed silently. It's good that Mu's father has stepped down now. Although it's not as serious as those ten years, the trial implementation of some policies has still caused social unrest.

Mr. Mu came down quickly, and went to see Mrs. Mu the day after he came down.

Lin Chuchu is currently a senior in college. Her first major, English, is in its final year, and she will receive her first graduation certificate in two months.

Lin Chuchu is currently studying computer science. There are very few computers available, with two people sharing one, and they all have those big heads.

These are discarded products brought back from abroad.

Lin Chuchu flipped through the book in her hands. Many of the words were familiar to her, as the book applied knowledge from books she had brought back from abroad.

"You have to thank one person for having this book. If it weren't for her risking her life to bring back computers from abroad, you wouldn't even have textbooks."

The computer teacher suddenly spoke up, his gaze falling on Lin Chuchu.

Lin Chuchu lowered her head; she didn't want to stand out.

"Teacher, are you talking about a soldier? What's her name?"

"I saw an English letter called 'L' in the book's editorial notes. Could it be that foreigners are helping us?"

"Our international friends, shouldn't we give them a proper thank you?"

The conversation was getting increasingly off-topic, and there was even a hint of praising foreign friends.

The teacher, her eyes filled with anger, took a deep breath and said, "Nonsense! Who said she's a foreign friend? She's from China. She's just keeping a low profile and doesn't want her name written in the textbook."

"She is a woman, surnamed Lin."

The students gasped in surprise.

"A woman? No way? How did she do that?"

"Wow, that's amazing. Isn't she afraid of getting arrested?"

Lin Chuchu was afraid, of course she was, but even at the risk of her life, she wanted to bring those books back to China.

The teacher looked at Lin Chuchu with a complicated expression and said seriously, "She is Yongxiong, a national hero. As for how she brought him back, as you learn more and know more, you may reach the same level as her."

He didn't believe it at first when he first heard that Lin Chuchu had a photographic memory, but it wasn't until he saw the books with his own eyes that he believed Lin Chuchu was truly a genius.

Lin Chuchu didn't interrupt, casually looking at the book in her hands, hoping they would end the topic quickly; she felt so awkward.

Seemingly having heard Lin Chuchu's thoughts, the teacher and classmates finally ended the topic.

As the class ended, a classmate said enviously, "Chuchu, who is that Comrade Lin? She's so amazing, I really want to meet her."

Lin Chuchu was speechless. "Why bother with all that? We're just ordinary students; we won't see those people."

Even if you see them, you can't let anyone recognize you.

Just then, a sneer came from behind.

"You're all just ordinary people. It's already good enough that you can get into the research institute. You want to meet senior academicians? Dream on!"

His words were full of provocation.

The classmate sitting next to Lin Chuchu was unhappy.

"Why are you interrupting? We're just chatting. What's it to you? As if you can meet those high-ranking academicians."
