Who knows, someone might come along, shamelessly begging for meat.

In the past, Sheng Xiping and his group wouldn't have cared about such things; giving them a little wouldn't have been a problem.

But this morning, someone stole a pig, and everyone is still furious. How could we possibly share the meat with outsiders?

The weather is getting cold this season, and each family has taken the meat home to store so they can eat it for several days.

Why can't we just eat what we have ourselves? Why give it to strangers?

Some people get the meat for free and eat it, but after they've finished, they might not even remember the kindness shown to them. They might even laugh at Wang Jianshe and the others for being foolish behind their backs.

So Wang Jianshe and the others figured out that while everyone was eating lunch, they should first break the meat apart.

Even if someone tries to take advantage of them later, they've already given out excuses and can easily send them away to avoid causing trouble.

Another thing is that these four or five young men are all big eaters.

I wonder how much food the Sheng family prepared for lunch. If we ate together, it probably wouldn't be enough.

Perhaps we should wait and talk about it later. After we finish our work, we can each take the meat home and eat it there.

I already said I made plenty of food for lunch, there's enough to eat.

Just then, Sheng Liancheng, who worked at the small repair shop, returned home after get off work.

When Wang Jianshe, Chen Weiguo, and the others saw Sheng Liancheng enter the room, they quickly stood up to greet him.

Sheng Liancheng waved his hand, "Oh, we're all family, why be so formal?"

"Come on, sit down and eat. I'm just washing my hands, I'll be right back."

Sheng Liancheng quickly washed his hands and went into the house. Wang Jianshe and the others quickly made way for him on the kang (a heated brick bed), and Sheng Liancheng sat down on it.

The Sheng family originally had eight members, and with the addition of Wang Jianshe and his three brothers, there really wasn't enough room to sit at the kang table.

Sheng Xitai and Sheng Yunfang, seeing this, simply sat on the windowsill, and the others squeezed in to make do with their meal.

Wang Jianshe and the others ate very quickly, finishing in about ten minutes. They even took their knives and went out to work while still chewing.

Everyone worked together to skin the bear and the wild boar.

Logically, wild boars should have their hair removed by boiling water, but that would be too much trouble.

Sheng Xiping suggested that skinning the boar would be faster, and the boar hide could be used to make two skis for hunting in the winter.

Four or five young men worked quickly and efficiently, and in no time, the pig and the bear were skinned.

The bear paws, the bear nose, and the corrugated cap were all removed; these are all useful.

The pork and bear meat were cut into pieces and laid out on the cutting board and table, to be separated for each family later.

Erlang Shen and General Hei each got a few bones with plenty of meat on them, and the two dogs happily carried the bones back to their den to gnaw on.

Even for his two puppies, Sheng Xiping would cut the meat into thin strips and let them taste it.

And you know what? These two puppies are really something. They were munching on the meat strips, barking and yelping, and slowly they finished them off.

With so much meat, Sheng Xiping said that some should be reserved for Gao Haining's banquet.

Give some meat to Wang Jiachuan, Zheng Xianyong, and the drivers of internal combustion engines, and the rest will be divided among the families.

This is a great suggestion, and everyone agrees.

So they left Gao Haining a piece of pork rib, a piece of pork hind leg, and a bear thigh.

In addition, they couldn't bear to throw away the wild boar offal, so they gave it to Gao Haining as well.

After unloading and cleaning the goods, we cooked them to entertain the helpers in the evening. They were all good food, things we usually can't get to eat.

As for Wang Jiachuan and the others, just leave them four or five catties of meat.

A pig and a black bear are both quite heavy. Even after removing the head, hooves, and offal, there's still a lot of meat left. You don't have to feel bad about sharing some.

Finally, everyone shared what was left, a mix of fat and lean meat. Nobody cared how much; as long as there was food, that was good enough.

"Xiping, that's settled then. We'll send the meat home first, and you can deliver the meat to Secretary Wang and Director Zheng."

"Let's deliver some meat to Haining together later, and I can help out with some chores this afternoon."

There's so much meat sitting there, it's too eye-catching. I'd better take it home quickly.

To avoid someone getting envious and coming to ask for it, it would be awkward not to give it to them.
