The Liu family members inside the house also heard the commotion and hurriedly came out, exclaiming, "Oh, it's Xiping!"

"Weren't you working up in the mountains? When did you come down? And why did you bring two puppies with you?"

Liu Yuhe pushed open the door and saw Sheng Xiping leading two dogs in. He found it strange and asked.

"Xiping, come in quickly and tell your teacher's wife how your wife is doing? When did she give birth?"

"Look, I haven't heard a single word from here," Qin Qiuyan said loudly towards the outer room.

“Master, mistress, my wife gave birth yesterday afternoon. It went very smoothly. From the onset of abdominal pain to delivery, it only took two hours.”

I found out last night when my family called me from the mountain, and I took a car down this morning.

I went to my father-in-law's place in Songjianghe to share the good news first, and now that I'm back, I'm here with you two.

These are auspicious eggs; let your daughter-in-law and grandson have a taste and share in the joy." Liu Changde winked at Qin Qiuyan.

Qin Qiuyan understood, immediately put on her shoes, got out of bed, and took six eggs to the backyard.

After spending a short while in the backyard, Qin Qiuyan returned to the front yard and went directly to the west room. She picked up thirty eggs from the egg basket under the cabinet, scooped out five catties of millet, and also found two red ginseng roots.

Qin Qiuyan started collecting eggs early in the morning, just in time to use them when Zhou Qinglan had her baby.

"Master's wife, isn't this too much? I'll take the millet, and you can have the two ginseng roots, but I don't need the eggs."

My mom said she saved up a hundred eggs, and my mother-in-law gave her fifty more; that's enough for them.

When Sheng Xiping took a look, he realized that these things were quite extraordinary.

The hens have long since stopped laying eggs in the dead of winter, so collecting these eggs is no easy feat.

"You think you're all grown up now? You think my words don't count? These aren't for you, they're for your wife. Want to give it a try?"

Upon hearing this, Qin Qiuyan's face immediately darkened, and she glared at Sheng Xiping.

"Xiping, are your master's wife and I outsiders? Just take whatever you give us, don't waste your breath."

If you anger your master's wife, be careful she doesn't beat you up; I can't stop her.

Over there, Liu Changde, while smoking his pipe, tried to smooth things over.

Qin Qiuyan didn't try to keep Sheng Xiping any longer, and simply nodded.

And so, Sheng Xiping picked up his basket and walked out, ignoring the whining and barking of Erlang Shen and the other dogs, and left the Liu family home to return to the forest farm.

On the Sheng family's side, Zhang Shuzhen and her two daughters had already prepared the meal. They first served Zhou Qinglan her meal, then changed her grandson's diapers before coming out of the west room.
