And so, on March 1st, Zhou Qinglan returned to school to teach, leaving the child in Zhang Shuzhen's care.

On March 20th, the winter logging and transportation work for this year came to an end. Except for the two groups of log-collecting operations, all the remaining logs were transported down the mountain.

The workers stationed on the mountain have all returned to rest for the time being.

The site compiled statistics on this year's total timber production, as well as the production output and per capita output of each work team.

The youth commando team led by Sheng Xiping not only had the highest total output in the field, but also had a higher per capita output than other teams, thus exceeding the mining and transportation target.

Wang Jiachuan was very pleased and held a commendation meeting at the forest farm, selecting the youth commando team as an advanced work team.

Sheng Xiping was selected as an outstanding individual, and outstanding sawers, outstanding tractor drivers, and so on were also selected.

Then, at a bureau meeting, Sheng Xiping was again recognized as a production pacesetter and an advanced individual. He was given a red flower, had his picture taken, and received a certificate and prizes.

Just then, the bureau officially issued a document announcing that it would recruit 200 people this year, with five recruitment quotas allocated to Qianchuan Forest Farm.

In addition to the requirement of years of service, the recruitment criteria required that applicants be educated youth who are hardworking and have outstanding performance in their daily work.

After discussions between the farm and the educated youth team and the agricultural team, Sheng Xiping, Chen Weiguo, Wang Jianshe, Guo Yongping, and Yu Shuaijun, the five educated youths who were among the first to go up the mountain in Qianchuan Forest Farm and who also participated in training last year, were recruited as formal employees and temporarily assigned to work in various departments of the forest farm.

"Xiping, well, two people were transferred from our security department a while ago. How about this, you can temporarily go to the security department to lend a hand."

"The work there is easy and there's not much to do. We'll see how to arrange your work when it's time for winter logging." Wang Jiachuan spoke with Sheng Xiping.

The bureau's recruitment this time basically follows the policy of returning to the place of origin.

Sheng Xiping and others were originally from the forestry farm, so their jobs were naturally still arranged at the forestry farm.

Forestry workers can be broadly categorized into several types: ordinary laborers, skilled workers, and department staff.

Laborers typically work in winter, such as logging, pruning branches, clearing forests, and loading trucks; in spring, they work on afforestation and fire prevention; and in summer, they work on forest management and dismantling timber. Sometimes they are also responsible for nursery seedling cultivation.

There's not much free time throughout the year; most of the time is spent doing physically demanding work.

Ordinary skilled workers typically work as sawers, tractor drivers, winch operators, drivers, and measuring personnel.

Most of them have a skill, but they still do manual labor and are considered front-line production workers.

Sheng Xiping and his colleagues participated in training programs for sawers and tractor drivers during the summer and obtained qualification certificates, so they are considered ordinary technical workers.

They are usually assigned to work in a construction team, where they gradually gain seniority, receive promotions, and get pay raises.

That's basically it. A very small number of exceptionally talented individuals manage to get positions such as production scheduler or production manager.

The security department is a division responsible for the security of the forest farm. Compared to the work teams, the work is less strenuous and requires less physical exertion, making it quite leisurely.

Of course, there were no bonuses for the work team either.

Wang Jiachuan meant that since the winter operation has ended, it's difficult to arrange personnel.

Let Sheng Xiping stay in the security department for a while as a transition, and then make adjustments based on the needs of the forest farm once the winter harvesting and transportation work begins.

Sheng Xiping had no objection to this; he was fine with working anywhere.

The security department is pretty good too. Several people take turns on duty, and when he's not on duty, he can take the dog into the mountains to go hunting or something.

Even if you don't go up the mountain, you can still help take care of the children at home, so nothing gets delayed, which is great.

Li Zhenggang, the head of the security section of Qianchuan Forest Farm, had a good relationship with Sheng Xiping. This time, Sheng Xiping was assigned to his subordinates, which made Li Zhenggang very happy.

With nothing else to do, Li Zhenggang started to nag, asking Sheng Xiping to take him hunting in the mountains.

Since they had nothing better to do, Sheng Xiping led Li Zhenggang and a few others, along with dogs, up the mountain a few times and hunted some wild boars and roe deer.

"Xiping, when you have some free time, ask around at Dajianchang if we're planning another spring hunt this year."

Last spring's hunt went very well; we did quite a bit, and it was very successful. How about we do it again this year?

That day, Li Zhenggang suddenly remembered this matter and asked Sheng Xiping about it.

"Spring hunt? I really don't know how the Dajianchang (Great Alkali Field) has arranged that."

Sheng Xiping wasn't too attached to spring hunting or anything like that; his family had plenty of food.

Every now and then, that little rascal Huahua would send over a wild boar, roe deer, or deer. Each boar weighed over 100 pounds. Before we could even finish eating this one, Huahua would send over another.

So, Sheng Xiping now hopes to encounter more black bears, or catch a deer in May or June, or hunt a few musk deer, mainly to make money.
