The howls of wolves rang out one after another, growing ever closer.

Then, Sheng Xiping saw some faint green lights not far behind them; those must be the eyes of wolves reflecting the light in the night.

"Watch out, the wolf pack is closing in. When you fire, don't let your hands shake, aim for the brightest spots."

The other two nodded, focused intently on aiming their guns, and when the dots of light came within a hundred meters, Sheng Xiping was the first to pull the trigger.

A gunshot rang out, and a wolf on the other side let out a scream and fell to the ground.

Chen Weiguo and Wang Jianshe also fired their guns. These two were also quite skilled marksmen. Another wolf on the other side was shot and fell to the ground, howling in pain.

The wolf pack consisted of about a dozen wolves, one of which was larger and was the leader of the pack.

Sheng Xiping and the others walked another two or three miles, and Erlang Shen and the others barked wildly again as a warning.

As the barking of dogs began, the sound grew louder and louder as a pack of wolves, unwilling to give up, followed in pursuit.

At that moment, Sheng Xiping and his companions were walking in the ditch, while the wolf pack was on the hillside, putting them at a disadvantage.

"Fusheng, let's abandon the sled and hurry up and go."

If the wolf pack were to swoop down, they would be too fast for the wolves to fire in time.

However, once the wolf pack gets close, the guns won't be as effective. Erlang Shen and the others are all injured and exhausted, and they're afraid of getting hurt.

Therefore, Sheng Xiping made a decisive move, instructing Pan Fusheng and his men to throw away the sleds and use the meat to attract the wolves' attention, making it easier for them to escape.

At this point, Pan Fusheng and his companions no longer had a choice between being willing or unwilling; which was more important, life or flesh?

So, Pan Fusheng and Wang Jianshe gritted their teeth, abandoned the sled, and the four of them, surrounded by dogs, hurried forward as quickly as possible.

Sheng Xiping thought that if they left the meat, the wolves would only care about eating it and wouldn't follow them anymore.

Then, six or seven wolves headed toward the sled, while the rest continued to follow the wolf king and Sheng Xiping and his companions along the hillside.

In the harsh winter, most animals stay in their dens and do not come out. The wolf pack lacks food and suffers from hunger, making survival difficult.

Having finally encountered a few two-legged creatures, the wolf had no intention of letting them go.

As for the dogs, the wolf pack was quite large and didn't take them seriously at all. So the wolf king arranged for a few wolves to guard the meat, while the rest continued to follow and try to find an opportunity to ambush them.

Wolves are very vengeful animals. Sheng Xiping and his group just killed several wolves, and these guys are going to avenge their companions.

Upon discovering that the wolves continued to follow them, Erlang Shen and the others were furious and kept howling at the wolf pack.

Sheng Xiping also sensed something was wrong, knowing that these wolves might not be easy to deal with today.

“Let’s go up the mountain on the other side. I remember there’s a rocky cliff ahead.”

Sheng Xiping made a quick decision and led the people and the dog toward the opposite hillside.

Since these wolves refused to give up, they had no choice but to find a favorable location before launching a counterattack.

And so, the four men and six dogs crossed the ditch and climbed up the opposite hillside.

The wolves seemed to realize Sheng Xiping and his group's intentions, so they quickened their pace. Sheng Xiping, carrying a gun, was at the back. When he saw the wolves catching up, he immediately fired, killing the two wolves in front of him.

Seeing this, the other wolves dared not press on any further, but they did not leave either, following at a distance that was neither too close nor too far.

Wolves have incredible stamina; they can track their prey for a day or even several days. If their prey is even slightly careless, they will seize the opportunity to strike and kill their opponent in one fell swoop.

Opposite is a rocky slope, steep and difficult to traverse, with a rocky cliff halfway up the mountain.

The rocky cliff was quite high, serving as a natural barrier. "Quick, let's get under the rocky cliff."

Sheng Xiping walked at the very back, and whenever he saw a wolf following him, he would shoot it dead.

With Sheng Xiping and his group hiding under the rocky cliffs, they didn't have to worry about being attacked from behind by the wolves. With nothing to worry about, they could act freely.
