Feng Baosheng looked down on the people in the forest farm, so he was very picky and critical after arriving. To his surprise, there really were capable people in Qianchuan Forest Farm.

Last year, two students were admitted to key universities, and this year two more were admitted, one of whom was admitted to Peking University.

Previously, Feng Baosheng had made some boastful remarks in front of Principal Wang, saying that no golden phoenix could fly out of the mountains. He never expected to be proven wrong so quickly.

Feng Baosheng felt his face burning; he was really embarrassed.

Of course, no matter how uncomfortable you feel inside, you can't show it on your face.

"The Sheng family is quite impressive. Their daughter-in-law is studying at Northeast Normal University, and their two sons are studying at Harbin Institute of Technology and Peking University respectively. They have three college students in their family."

"What educational background does Lao Sheng have? What's his family background?" Feng Baosheng chatted with the others in the office.

"What kind of background could he have? Old Sheng's family has been poor farmers for three generations, and they can't read a single word."

A few years ago, someone tried to frame him and even went to his hometown, Shancheng, to investigate. They found nothing, and eventually had to let him go.

"They're just lucky; they know how to raise their children. All of their kids are outstanding."

Don't underestimate him just because his eldest son didn't get into university; he's incredibly talented.

Someone nearby couldn't help but praise Sheng Xiping a few times.

Feng Baosheng had only been at the forest farm for a little over a month and was not yet very familiar with the staff.

I roughly know that Sheng Liancheng's eldest son used to work in the security department, but has now been transferred to the construction team, and he's a decent worker.

I haven't had time to learn about other aspects yet, so I didn't know that Sheng Xiping also hunts.

"Oh? The eldest son of the Sheng family has this skill? That's really impressive." Feng Baosheng hummed in agreement, seemingly lost in thought.

The Sheng brothers found out about the admission news and confirmed that Sheng Xikang had indeed been admitted to Peking University. As long as the physical examination is normal and the application is approved, Sheng Xikang can go to the capital to study.

There's no need to worry about the physical examination. It's not as strict as the requirements for joining the army. As long as you don't have any serious illnesses or infectious diseases, you can pass.

“Dad, let’s go to the railway station first and see if there’s a convenient way back. Xikang won’t be back for his medical check-up for another five days, and we can’t stay in Songjianghe forever.”

Our new manager is quite strict; he doesn't allow leave or anything like that. We have to try our best to get back home if we can.

After leaving the Education Department, Sheng Xiping said goodbye to Zhou Mingyuan.

Sheng Xikang and the others won't have their medical check-up for another five days, so they can't stay in Songjianghe indefinitely.

Nowadays, it's not easy to get leave from the work team. If Sheng Xikang wants to go to university, he still needs the forest farm's approval, which includes his daily work performance.

These are critical times, so it's crucial for Feng Baosheng to keep a close eye on the work team. They'd better not cause any trouble, lest that kid interfere.

"Don't worry, wait a moment. I'll make a call and ask. If that doesn't work, I'll talk to Secretary Zhao and the others and arrange a car to take you back."

"Our bureau's top scorer deserves some treatment." Zhou Mingyuan laughed upon hearing this, and told the Sheng brothers to wait a moment while he made a phone call.

As luck would have it, there happened to be a whole car from the Shuguang Forest Farm that had been dismantled at the forest railway. Zhou Mingyuan made arrangements with them, and the Sheng brothers were allowed to take the car back from the forest railway.

At worst, we can get off at Shuguang Forest Farm and walk the remaining eighteen miles back without much effort.

So the two brothers quickly went to the Sentetsu Railway, boarded the Harajo train heading towards Shuguang, and walked all the way to the railway branch line between Shuguang and Maekawa.

The two then got out of the car and walked home, covering the remaining seven or eight miles.

When I got home, I was surprised to find a group of people laughing and joking around.

Upon seeing Sheng Xikang return, the family members immediately surrounded him.

"Oh my, our great talent is back! Congratulations! He got into Peking University. After graduation, he'll be a cadre, won't he?" Everyone congratulated him in unison.

Sheng Xikang bowed deeply to the people around him, saying, "Thank you for your kindness, uncles, aunts, and grandmas."

I'm young, and I've been naughty and done a lot of things that people dislike in the past. I hope you'll all forgive me for being so young.

To be honest, I didn't really expect to get in. I just guessed when I chose my major, and I didn't expect to actually get it right.

No matter where I am in the future, I will always remember that I came from Qianchuan Forest Farm, that I am a member of the forest farm, a child of forestry workers, and that I will not bring shame to our forest farm.

"Okay, that makes me feel better."

That's right. No matter where you go, never forget that you are a child of our forest farm. People should never forget their roots.

No matter how successful you become in the future, remember that your parents and family are still here in this remote mountain village.

Zheng Xianyong walked in from outside and, upon hearing Sheng Xikang's words, clapped and praised him.

Zheng Xianyong led the applause, and everyone else followed suit, filling the Sheng family's house with applause.

"Oh, the manager is here. Come in and have a seat."

Hey Lao Sheng, you keep everyone company for a while, I'll go pick out a few dishes, and we can all stay for dinner tonight.
