Chapter 506 A Good Start After the New Year

When Sheng Xiping arrived at the Longjiang Hotel, he discovered that Wu Bingzhong and his son were not the only ones who had come to Heihe.

There were also several elderly men in military uniforms; you could tell from their shoulder insignia that they were all of high rank.

The city leaders accompanied them respectfully, rarely daring to utter a sound.

Wu Bingzhong was overjoyed to see Sheng Xiping and quickly called Sheng Xiping to sit down next to him. Then he introduced him to everyone with a smile.

"Everyone, this is the Mr. Sheng of Tengyue Trading Company that I was talking about, my son's partner, and also my son-in-law's elder brother."

Most of the city leaders knew Sheng Xiping, but they only knew that he was related to Xu Guoxing of the Finance Bureau. They did not know that Sheng Xiping had such a close relationship with the Wu family.

Upon hearing Wu Bingzhong's words, the leaders were stunned.

If they had known about this relationship earlier, they would have been more than happy to agree when Sheng Xiping wanted to cooperate in building the hotel.

Well, that's great. The hotel was built, but the city didn't get any of the profits; instead, the Finance Bureau reaped the benefits.

"Xiping, come here, let me introduce you. This is Old Yang, and this is Engineer Lin. They came here specifically to see what I told them about this place."

"Greetings, Commander." Sheng Xiping stood beside Wu Bingzhong and bowed respectfully.

Sheng Xiping and Wu Yuqing sat down as instructed. By then, everyone had arrived, and the restaurant staff began serving the dishes.

"Old Yang, I can't guarantee that this will definitely work out."

Sheng Xiping was taken aback. "Uncle, just tell me what you need. As long as it's within my power, I'll do it without asking."

Upon hearing this, Sheng Xiping could only smile wryly, "Uncle, the third brother told me about this during the New Year."

That's all Sheng Xiping can do. I suppose Ivanov will find a way to transport the steel over for the sake of the US dollars.

The meal was basically just casual conversation, discussing opinions on border trade and such.

Lin Gong looked older than Wu Bingzhong, and his hair was a bit whiter, but he was in very good spirits, and his eyes were bright and piercing.

Wu Bingzhong and the others had other matters to discuss with Sheng Xiping, but since their objective had been achieved, the wine was just a token gesture.

Unlike some people who talk big and boast, even if they have only three points of ability, they insist on exaggerating it into ten.

The matter of replacing the steel with special materials is confidential and certainly cannot be discussed in this setting.

"Xiping, will there be any problems with this deal?"

"This special steel is different from others. Is the person you're working with reliable?" After everyone sat down, Old Yang asked Sheng Xiping with concern.

After Sheng Xiping finished speaking, the city leaders raised their glasses and very politely toasted him, and made a public statement.

Sheng Xiping sent everyone else away, leaving only Wu Bingzhong, Old Yang, Engineer Lin, Sheng Xiping, and the Wu brothers in the room.

"Xiping, come on, take us to your warehouse." Wu Bingzhong winked at Sheng Xiping and said.

From now on, whatever you need, just come to us.

Then, Wu Bingzhong spoke up, "Xiping, actually we have something else we'd like to ask you for help with."

Hearing this, Old Yang and the others nodded. "Not bad, this young man is quite reliable in his words and deeds."

Sheng Xiping said this, but in his heart he couldn't help but wonder if these old men would give him some difficult problems.

After all, Russia isn't in a particularly chaotic situation yet. The KGB there is very powerful, and Sheng Xiping can't guarantee that Ivanov can really handle everything.

"If possible, we'd like to buy some machine tools." Wu Bingzhong coughed a couple of times, a little embarrassed, before revealing his purpose.

"Alright, let's wait and see how things go tomorrow." Old Yang glanced at Engineer Lin and then nodded to Wu Bingzhong.

Sheng Xiping readily agreed, stepped forward to help Old Yang, and the group left the hotel, got into the car, and headed straight for the warehouse base.

Sheng Xiping, as a beneficiary of border trade, was also mentioned by Wu Bingzhong, who shared some of his views.

Wu Bingzhong specifically called Sheng Xiping over, intending to give Sheng Xiping a platform and clearly tell these people in the city that Sheng Xiping had the Wu family backing him up.

"Comrade Xiao Sheng, I've heard Bingzhong mention you before. You're a good comrade. Please sit down, don't be shy."

Old Yang looked much older than Wu Bingzhong. He wore glasses, and his hair was mostly white with very little black.

Wu Bingzhong then introduced the two elderly men, who were not young, to Sheng Xiping.

I have a feeling that this person has a powerful background. Since he agreed, he should be able to find a way.

After finishing their meal shortly, Wu Bingzhong and his group got up to leave.

"We've agreed that they'll ship the goods over tomorrow when border trade reopens. We'll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow."

As things stand, it's not the right time yet, and I'm not sure just how strong Ivanov's backing really is.

Could it be that you're planning to ask him to help you buy a Su-27 or a T-80? He doesn't have that ability right now.

I had previously worked very well with Andrei, a friend of Ivanov, and Andrei strongly recommended Ivanov to me.

"Comrade Xiao Sheng, thank you very much for your suggestions. They have indeed given us a lot of inspiration for our future work."

Old Yang smiled at Sheng Xiping and said in a very amicable manner.

Upon arriving, Wu Bingzhong and the others made a token appearance around the house before going inside and sitting down together.

"How about this, let's finish this transaction first, and once we've confirmed there are no problems, I'll try to contact Ivanov and talk to him. Is that alright?"
