Reborn in the Apocalypse: Bringing the Whole Village to Farm

The apocalypse arrived, but there were no zombies. Only unpredictable extreme weather and daily squabbles forced humans to survive on instinct alone to avoid being eliminated.

Yun Qi struggle...

Chapter 67 Frozen

After saying that, they got fully armed, leaving only their eyes exposed. When they opened the door to the woodshed, a blast of cold air rushed in, and everyone couldn't help but shiver.

"If this woodshed is this cold, how cold must it be outside?" Father Yun quickly pulled Mother Yun back into the house. "We should wear more clothes. This is no joke."

Once everyone was fully armed, Sicheng opened the door from the woodshed to the backyard.

What greets the eye is a world of ice, as if one has accidentally entered a world of ice. Even the ground and houses are covered with thick layers of ice, reflecting a dazzling light.

Mother Cloud stared in disbelief at everything before her. "This is too amazing. I didn't see any snow, and it just froze over. And it's so cold!"

Si Cheng told them to stay inside and not come out, while he went to the front door and knocked off the ice that had formed on it.

Yun Qi opened the door from the inside and took out a thermometer from his spatial storage to measure the temperature, which was a shocking -45 degrees Celsius.

"Cheng, come with me to the village later. There must be a lot of people who can't open their doors. Let's go and help them."

"I can go by myself in a bit. The road outside is really hard to walk on now, and I could slip and fall at any time."

Yunqi didn't want his parents to go out either, "Dad, please don't go and cause trouble."

"What kind of talk is this child? How did I cause trouble? I was just worried about your second grandfather and the others, afraid they would be anxious if they couldn't go out."

Yunqi remained firm in his opinion: "Then you shouldn't go out either. If you go out, we'll all get worried too."

Mama Yun said from the side, "It's too cold outside. Come in and have breakfast first, then we can discuss whether to go out or not. Only by filling your stomach can you resist the cold."

After breakfast, Si Cheng went to his second grandfather's house alone. He set up the ladder he had brought on the wall, and after climbing up the wall, he put the ladder down.

Upon entering the courtyard, he didn't immediately call out to anyone, knowing that the ice had frozen all the doors and windows solid, making it unlikely he would hear them. Instead, he used the tools he had brought to remove the ice from the doors.

While he was clearing the ice, the people inside heard the commotion. They heard Yun Xun and Yun Tao asking from inside, "Who's outside?"

"It's me, Sicheng," he replied while cleaning.

Yun Xun quickly ran to the room: "Grandpa, it's Brother Cheng from Uncle Ming's family."

Upon hearing that it was Si Cheng who had come, he quickly instructed his two grandsons, "Then you two hurry up and put on warm clothes, and we'll go to the village together to help with the ice removal later."

After saying that, he turned to his two daughters-in-law and said, "Go and make them breakfast quickly, and try to make it as plentiful as possible."

When Si Cheng entered, he quickly closed the door behind him, letting the cold air from outside seep into the house.

"Is everyone at home alright?" As soon as he entered the door, he saw the whole family there. Before he could even ask about the situation, his second grandfather spoke first.

Upon hearing his second grandfather's question, Si Cheng quickly replied, "Everything is fine, it's just that it's too cold outside and the roads are too slippery, so I don't dare let them go out."

“We shouldn’t go out. We were a little worried when we couldn’t open the door this morning. Luckily you came.” Grandpa said as he invited him to have breakfast.

Si Cheng said he had already eaten and was going to the next restaurant to help with de-icing.

Second Grandfather said, "Then wait a moment, let these two boys come with you too."

"Okay, you guys have breakfast first, I'll clear the ice outside the gate first."

Yun Xun asked curiously, "Brother Cheng, how did you get in?"

"I climbed over the wall to get in. I should have cleared the ice outside first before coming in, because I'll have to climb over the wall to get out again later." Thinking of this, Si Cheng was also annoyed. Why didn't he think of that before?

After the two brothers finished breakfast, Si Cheng also cleared the ice off the gate.

And so, one by one, they removed the ice, and gradually the line grew larger and the speed increased.

There were problems along the way.

Several families suffered from frostbite because younger family members were lazy and didn't get up to add firewood in the middle of the night. Even after using all the medicine available in Yunnan, it was barely enough for these people for two days. As for whether they could be fully cured, that was up to fate.

To prevent the ice from freezing solid again every day, they built another protective barrier at the entrance, erecting a simple shed on top, so they wouldn't have to wait for rescue from others in the future.

As soon as Si Cheng entered the house, Yun Qi brought over a bowl of ginger soup that had already been brewed. "Here, drink this to get rid of the cold."

After drinking the ginger soup, his body temperature rose, and Si Cheng took off his wet coat and put it on the rack next to the stove to dry.

When I took off my shoes, I discovered that all the plastic on the soles had cracked. Luckily, I was walking on cold ice; if I had been walking on snow, my shoes would have been soaked.

"The quality is terrible. They all cracked from the cold. This is such a waste of shoes. I really don't know what to wear in the future."

Most shoes nowadays have plastic soles. If they're not cold-resistant, wearing shoes will be a hassle in the future.

Yun's mother's focus is always different from everyone else's: "What about the car's tires? I wonder if they've cracked too."

Mr. Yun found this amusing, “Even if it didn’t crack, it wouldn’t be able to crack now.”

Si Cheng felt a thought flash through his mind. After thinking about it carefully, he realized that the car tires could actually be removed and used for other purposes.

Thinking of this, he immediately took action. He asked Yunqi for tools and went to remove the four tires from the vehicle. Fortunately, the tires hadn't cracked from the cold, so he moved them into the woodshed.

Seeing his son-in-law starting to hammer and tinker again, Yun's father curiously went over to investigate.

"What are they planning to do?"

"I was thinking of seeing if I could make a trailer and apply several layers of antifreeze oil to the outside, which should make it last for a while."

Hearing his son-in-law say that, Mr. Yun also got busy. Since he couldn't go out in this weather anyway, he had to find something to do. If he didn't succeed, it would just be a waste of time; if he did succeed, he could help transport some goods nearby.

Yunqi then began harvesting the herbs they had planted earlier in the space. They had previously consulted a traditional Chinese medicine doctor who prescribed several basic medications, and they purchased seeds based on the prescriptions. Fortunately, there were no known drug interactions in the space, and all the herbs survived.

Based on the harvesting years specified in the planting manual and the spatial-temporal proportions, harvesting has now begun in batches.

After harvesting the medicinal herbs, bring them outside the space. Everyone then processes them one by one according to the methods shown in the video.
