Xu Xining adores this new life, free from the heavy burdens of her previous identity and suffocating responsibilities.
What she feels most is the love from her family and the freedom of livin...
Old Mrs. Xu's ten-ingredient tonic pills weren't for nothing; she wouldn't be able to vent her anger until she beat this clueless daughter into submission.
Grandma Chen, always eager for drama, exclaimed, "Qiu, it's not that I don't want to speak up for you, but what you did today was really unfair. No wonder your mother is so angry."
Grandma Xu really hit her, and Wang Juan was terrified. She had always known that Grandma Xu doted on her sister-in-law. Ever since her sister-in-law married into the family, Grandma Xu had given them many gifts. So she thought that with her sister-in-law's intervention, the matter would be resolved. She never expected that Grandma Xu would be so terrifying when she got angry. She hadn't seen anyone hit someone so fiercely in years.
Xu Qiuju's husband, Wang Zhongjun, was unaware that she had brought her sister-in-law back to her parents' home. He only found out when he got home from get off work, and then he realized he was in trouble.
He had heard his mother and sister talk about his younger sister's crush on a young educated youth from Xujia Village quite often. Later, he learned that the young educated youth was no ordinary person and was even living in the Xu family's home.
Wang Zhongjun had always known that his younger sister was ambitious and that the people she set her sights on were not ordinary. In fact, Wang Zhongjun did not think highly of his sister. If she looked like Xu Xinning, he would think she was perfect, but she looked like his sister and was always thinking about these unrealistic things. What a load of crap!
To marry well, one either needs to be good-looking, have a good job, or come from a good family. But what does her sister have? She's a complete loser.
When Wang Zhongjun rushed to Xujia Village, he saw Old Mrs. Xu chasing Xu Qiuju with a large broom, while his good-for-nothing sister hid in the corner. Old Mrs. Chen sat on the wall, constantly nagging. Two young people, a boy and a girl, sat at the entrance of the main room, watching the commotion with their chins in their hands. Many villagers stood at the gate watching the excitement.
Wang Zhongjun felt like he wanted to escape. He thought that if he went in now, it would be a small matter if his mother-in-law beat and scolded him, but it would be a big problem if the Xu family rejected him. After all, his current position was related to Xu Yaozu's influence. If he didn't have such a powerful brother-in-law, would he have been able to sit in the position of director?
Wang Zhongjun is a very self-aware person, which is why even though his mother always complained that Xu Qiuju had given birth to two daughters, he always acted as a peacemaker at home.
Old Mrs. Chen had sharp eyes and was sitting high up, so she spotted Wang Zhongjun hesitating at the gate at a glance. Old Mrs. Chen called out at the top of her lungs, "Qiu! Your Zhongjun is here."
Upon hearing that her brother had arrived, Wang Juan seemed to find solace and dashed from the corner to the front gate. Seeing Wang Zhongjun, she burst into tears.
Wang Juan: "Brother, you've finally arrived! The Xu family is so unreasonable; they're all uncivilized country bumpkins. Don't ever come to the Xu family again."
Wang Zhongjun was furious!
What kind of talk is that? Doesn't he know what kind of temper his mother-in-law has? She's an extremely gentle old lady; she wouldn't chase after someone to beat them unless she was really angry.
Wang Zhongjun's face turned red with anger, and he roared at Wang Juan, "Shut up! Don't you know what you've done?"
Wang Zhongjun was also angry at his wife's muddle-headed nature. With such a strong support system and his own job, why couldn't she stand up for herself? Her personality made being her husband quite difficult. Every time he reasoned with her, a few words from his mother and sister the next day would make her lose her mind again. Sometimes she would even bring up things he had said to her without thinking, putting him in an awkward position. Then he would have to save the day and smooth things over, which was really exhausting.
Wang Juan couldn't help but burst into tears after being yelled at by Wang Zhongjun.
Grandma Xu heard the noise and stopped hitting Xu Qiuju.
The old lady was panting, and her meticulously styled hair was disheveled.
This was the second time Xu Xinning had seen Grandma Xu in such a disheveled state.
Children are all debts!
Both of Mrs. Xu's embarrassing moments were related to her children.
Mu Jingheng fawned over Old Madam Xu, pouring her a glass of water and handing it to her with a grin, saying, "Grandma, I'm sorry you had to go through all this trouble for me. Drink this water, and I'll give you a massage later. I promise you'll feel great."
This person was good-looking and had a silver tongue; Old Mrs. Xu's anger dissipated almost completely in an instant.
Grandma Xu drank the water heartily, gulping it down in large gulps.
Mu Jingheng took the cup, pulled Grandma Xu to sit down, and then started massaging her.
Grandma Xu let out a comfortable sigh.
Xu Xinning found it amusing; Mu Jingheng was truly a master of deception, capable of utterly ruthless and deceitful behavior.
Wang Zhongjun felt that whether he stuck his neck out or not, he would still get stabbed, so he gritted his teeth and went into the yard.
Xu Qiuju, her face covered in dust and her eyes red, went to greet him as if she had suffered a great injustice. "Her father, you're here."
Wang Zhongjun glanced at her, feeling both annoyed and heartbroken.
His wife, aside from her cluelessness, is otherwise impeccable. Many people in the factory envied him for marrying her. She was the factory's most beautiful girl; quite a few had their eyes on her. If he hadn't been so persistent, how could such a pretty girl have fallen for a man like him who had no advantages whatsoever?
Wang Zhongjun couldn't harden his heart no matter what. He lovingly stroked her hair and strode towards Old Mrs. Xu.
Grandma Xu was enjoying Mu Jingheng's massage service with her eyes closed.
Wang Zhongjun leaned closer and called out, "Mother."
Grandma Xu deliberately ignored him.
Xu Xinning stood up and brought Wang Zhongjun a stool to sit on, then poured him a glass of water. Judging from his appearance, he must have rushed over in a great hurry.
Wang Zhongjun wasn't angry that Old Mrs. Xu ignored him; after all, they were the ones in the wrong. Even if that weren't the case, what was wrong with flattering his mother-in-law a little more?
