Chapter 10 The Terrifying Painting
During the first class in the morning, the teacher talked about the history of human social development. Yu Qing sat below, reading her book and looking at the blackboard, but her mind was on the corpse of the stray cat from that morning.
As he was thinking, his gaze unconsciously fell on Lu Chi. Lu Chi's height was exceptional among boys. Because he was so tall, he looked particularly thin. Coupled with his old-fashioned black-rimmed glasses, he gave off a frail and scholarly air when he sat there.
In everyone's impression, Lu Chi has always been a good boy, but Yu Qing knows better than anyone what kind of demon is hidden beneath that appearance.
Based on his memories from his past life, he deduced that Lin Yueyue's death must be related to him, but he couldn't understand why Lu Chi wanted to kill Lin Yueyue.
He knew Lin Yueyue's family background very well; she was a well-known rich heiress in Jiangcheng, and her father was a prominent boss in Jiangcheng. Given Lu Chi's intelligence, choosing Lin Yueyue for his first murder was not a wise choice.
What exactly is the reason?
Yu Qing began to recall news from her past life, trying to find some clues, but unfortunately the clues provided by the police were too scattered to be pieced together into a complete piece of information.
He sighed, and just as he was about to look away, he suddenly saw Lu Chi quietly hide a piece of paper in his desk. Although his actions were very discreet and he deliberately avoided other people's eyes, Yu Qing still caught him!
"He was secretly putting something under his desk during math class yesterday. What was he drawing?"
Yu Qing was very puzzled. Ever since the conflict with Yang Jing yesterday, Lu Chi's behavior had become abnormal.
This suggests that Lu Chi's unusual behavior must be related to Yang Jing in some way, but Yu Qing just can't find any way to break through.
Yu Qing was absent-minded for the entire morning.
The students gradually left the classroom around lunchtime.
Yu Qing didn't move. He had been observing Lu Chi and saw that he didn't take anything from the desk. He then stood up and left with the crowd.
Yu Qing then stood up, walked quickly to Lu Chi's table, looked out into the corridor, and, finding no one paying attention to him, took out the paper that Lu Chi had stuffed under his table.
Upon seeing this, Yu Qing's pupils immediately contracted.
He did guess that Lu Chi was secretly drawing in class, but he didn't expect the drawing to be... so terrifying.
"What the hell is this drawing?"
Yu Qing took a deep breath to calm herself down and looked at the painting in front of her. The overall style was outlined in red ink, making it look like blood.
The scene in the painting is extremely eerie and terrifying. In an empty little room, the female protagonist is tied to a stool with a look of terror on her face. She stretches her neck, her eyes bulge out and are bloodshot, and her mouth is slightly open, as if she is screaming.
All around were giant snakes, some coiled around people's necks, and some even pierced through the heroine's chest, with blood flowing out continuously.
This painting is simply hell.
Yu Qing couldn't help but shiver.
The abstract style of this painting reveals the artist's psychological state and degree of distortion; it is something no normal person could create.
Why did he paint this picture?
Yu Qing immediately thought of what happened in the classroom yesterday. Lu Chi's unusual behavior was because he was bullied by Yang Jing. Did that mean that Lu Chi had murderous intent towards Yang Jing?
He didn't remember whether Yang Jing and Lu Chi had a conflict in his previous life, but he was certain that Yang Jing had graduated smoothly in her previous life.
Now he couldn't help but worry that his rebirth might flutter like a butterfly's wings, causing everything to deviate from its original trajectory.
Regardless, Yang Jing and Lin Yueyue were his primary concerns, and he had to take countermeasures.
Thinking of this, Yu Qing quickly took out her phone, snapped a picture of the painting, and then quickly put it back in its original place.
After doing all this, Yu Qing had just stepped out of the classroom when he ran into Lu Chi walking towards him, and saw Lu Chi staring at him with a gloomy look in his eyes.
Yu Qing's eyes darted away slightly, and he suddenly felt a sense of panic, like he had done something wrong. Fortunately, he had a strong mentality and quickly calmed down, pretending to be nonchalant as he brushed past her.
Only after they had walked far away did Yu Qing dare to breathe a sigh of relief.
He hadn't expected Lu Chi to come back so quickly. Luckily, he put the painting back in its place. If he had stayed in the classroom for even a minute longer, he might have been caught red-handed.
...
Arrived at the cafeteria.
Li Fei had already prepared his meal. When he saw Yu Qing walk in, he immediately stood up and waved, "Brother Qing, over here."
Yu Qing walked over and sat down, picked up his chopsticks and put them in his mouth. After eating a few mouthfuls of rice, he looked up and saw Li Fei leaning on the table looking at him with a strange look in his eyes, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't.
Yu Qing swallowed the food in his mouth, raised an eyebrow and asked, "Speak your mind, or shut up."
Li Fei chuckled a few times: "Nothing much, I just heard you brought Lin Yueyue a drink this morning?"
"Who said that?" Yu Qing frowned.
"It's all over the class! All the gossipy boys and girls in our class know about it. Honestly, why are you so fixated on Lin Yueyue? She doesn't want to talk to you at all. No matter how many gifts you give her, it's like offering a warm face to a cold backside. Don't you even understand that?" Li Fei said angrily.
"Hmm!" Yu Qing responded lazily, then lowered his head to continue eating his rice, lost in thought.
"I'm saying this for your own good, don't take it personally. Do you know why Lin Yueyue suddenly transferred to our school?" Li Fei suddenly said mysteriously.
"Why?" Yu Qing suddenly looked up at Li Fei. Actually, he was also a little confused about this. Logically speaking, a rich girl like Lin Yueyue should be attending a prestigious school, not transferring to their run-down high school.
Li Fei looked around to make sure no one was paying attention to them, then leaned closer to Yu Qing and whispered, "I heard she was forced to come by her mother."
"Damn it...?"
"Brother Qing, why are you swearing!"
"..."
Yu Qing coughed awkwardly and changed her mind, saying, "Please continue."
Li Fei pursed his lips and reluctantly continued, "It's said that her father found her a young stepmother. This stepmother isn't much older than her and is still in college, but her father likes her so much that he insists on marrying her. Can you imagine anyone putting up with a stepmother who's several years older than them? So, despite her family's objections, she transferred to Jiangcheng No. 1 High School. Otherwise, with her family's wealth, she could have easily gone to any private high school, right?"
"So that's how it is!" Yu Qing stroked his chin thoughtfully.
"So, many people envy Lin Yueyue's family. Look how good it is that she's rich! She can buy expensive clothes and cosmetics, and even buy anything she wants. But Lin Yueyue also has her own troubles. She also envies those families who, regardless of whether they are rich or poor, can still live happily together," Li Fei sighed.
Yu Qing nodded in agreement: "Unfortunately, I realized it too late."
"What do you mean you understand too late?" Li Fei looked at him in surprise.
"It's nothing, you're right." Yu Qing smiled but didn't explain anything.
