I have a deskmate.
He is a really good person.
Chapter 13 Should I teach Lu Chi a lesson?
Yu Qing read until very late before going to sleep.
He left home early in the morning, before the alarm clock even went off.
The sky outside remained overcast, like a giant gray curtain hanging in the air, impossible to remove no matter how hard you tried. It was easy to imagine that the flowers, unable to be sheltered, had been reduced to scattered, crimson remnants by last night's heavy rain.
There were very few pedestrians on the road, and Yu Qing walked very slowly. Many people were standing next to the bus stop waiting for the bus.
Suddenly, his eyes were covered by a pair of hands, and a hoarse voice came from behind him: "Guess who I am?"
Yu Qing let the hands cover her eyes and said speechlessly, "Li Fei, can't you come up with a different trick? This is really boring!"
The owner of those hands deflated upon hearing the familiar name and removed his hands, saying, "Tch, boring."
Yu Qing ignored him and continued waiting for the bus.
Li Fei pointed at Yu Qing's eyes in surprise: "Holy crap, what were you doing last night? You have such dark circles under your eyes!"
"Study," Yu Qing said lazily.
"Come on, with your grades, you're not even as high as my dad's blood pressure. Tell me honestly, did you secretly boost your rank behind my back?" Li Fei looked at Yu Qing with suspicion.
"Get out!"
Yu Qing didn't explain, letting him speculate.
The two lingered at the bus stop for a while before finally boarding the bus. Li Fei sat down next to him and turned to him mysteriously, saying, "Have you heard? Someone died in the neighborhood next door yesterday."
"How did he die?" Yu Qing asked instinctively.
"I don't know. I heard it's a woman, and quite pretty, but there's not much information about her online." Li Fei shook his head.
Yu Qing's heart skipped a beat. He immediately thought of the Hanfu-clad beauty from last night and quickly grabbed Li Fei, asking, "Was that woman wearing Hanfu and holding a cow-patterned cat?"
Li Fei looked at him in surprise: "Why are you so agitated?"
"Tell me quickly," Yu Qing urged.
"How would I know? I only heard it from Aunt Wang next door. She's the kind of person who loves to talk nonsense. Whether the news is true or false is another matter. You can ask Yuanxiu. Isn't his dad the bureau chief? He definitely knows the most," Li Fei said with a shrug.
Yu Qing released his hand, sighed, and said, "Alright! I understand."
"Why are you suddenly concerned about these things? Could it be that you have something to do with this case... Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!" Before Li Fei could finish speaking, Yu Qing covered his mouth with her hand.
"If you dare to gossip again, believe me, I'll beat you up!" Yu Qing glared fiercely at Li Fei, issuing a warning threat.
"Hehe, I was just joking," Li Fei quickly said with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Yu Qing released him and ignored Li Fei, gazing out the window with mixed feelings. He wasn't sure if the story was true, but he hoped it was false.
Although he only met the Hanfu-clad beauty once, he had a good impression of her. He couldn't accept the news of her death; it was too sudden. So, subconsciously, he still felt that the two might be a coincidence.
Just as Yu Qing was pondering, the bus began announcing that it was about to arrive at its stop. Li Fei suddenly pointed out the window and exclaimed in surprise, "Hey? Isn't that Lin Yueyue?"
Yu Qing looked in the direction he pointed and saw Lin Yueyue standing by the roadside with a boy next to her. Because he had his back to them, it was difficult to see his face clearly.
Li Fei, however, had sharp eyes and said in surprise, "That person next to him looks like Lu Chi. Strange! Why is he with Lin Yueyue?"
Yu Qing also noticed this suspicious point.
He knew Lu Chi's personality; he rarely spoke to boys, let alone stood next to a goddess like Lin Yueyue, which was quite unusual.
At this moment, the bus smoothly came to a stop at the station.
Yu Qing got out of the car, glanced at the two people's location from afar, and frowned almost imperceptibly, already guessing something in her heart.
He quickly looked away and stepped into the school gate.
Seeing that Yu Qing seemed distracted, Li Fei couldn't help but lean close to his ear and whisper, "Should I send someone to teach him a lesson?"
"Are you out of your mind?!" Yu Qing glanced at him.
Li Fei didn't understand the underlying meaning of her words, but he was intimidated by Yu Qing's gaze and shrank back sheepishly: "I'm only doing this for you, afraid that you'll feel uncomfortable."
"What's wrong with me? Who Lin Yueyue is with is none of my business. I have no interest in her," Yu Qing said calmly.
Li Fei curled his lip: "Come on! You're just a hypocrite. You'd chase after Lin Yueyue and smell her every fart. If you weren't interested in her, then the sun must have risen in the west."
"I'm warning you, Li Fei, don't interfere in Lu Chi's affairs. I'll handle it myself." Yu Qing was too lazy to explain anything and warned directly, fearing that Li Fei's well-intentioned help would cause things to develop in the opposite direction.
Seeing Yu Qing's firm attitude, Li Fei shrugged helplessly: "Fine, I know. Who wants to bother with your mess?"
Yu Qing arrived at his classroom, found his seat, and took out his books to concentrate on reviewing. Over this period of time, he had gradually adapted to this learning environment.
The classmates all looked at Yu Qing with surprise. After all, when Yu Qing was not talking, she had a lazy and world-weary feeling. Now, with dark circles under her eyes, she looked even more gloomy.
At this moment, Lu Chi and Lin Yueyue walked into the classroom. Lu Chi remained silent, while Lin Yueyue casually placed ten yuan on Yu Qing's desk as they passed by.
Yu Qing was taken aback and looked at her in confusion: "Why are you giving me money?"
"Here's your money back. Thank you for helping me yesterday," Lin Yueyue said generously, then sat down in her seat.
Yu Qing gave a curt "Oh," without any pretense, and stuffed the money into his pocket. He understood that the other party did this because they didn't want to owe him a favor, but he didn't care about that.
Hearing Yu Qing's indifferent reply, Lin Yueyue bit her lower lip, feeling somewhat uncomfortable. He wasn't like this before; he always tried to please her and would even come to chat with her during every break between classes.
Yu Qing now seems to have become a different person. He no longer clings to her or takes the initiative to talk to her. He spends all day with his head down, engrossed in reading, which makes Lin Yueyue feel a little uncomfortable.
"You stingy guy!" Lin Yueyue puffed out her cheeks, scribbling randomly on the draft paper with her pen while mentally complaining about Yu Qing.
Are you free now?
Just as Lin Yueyue was lost in thought, Yu Qing's voice rang out again.
She turned her head and saw Yu Qing staring at her, so she said with slight annoyance, "What?"
Yu Qing didn't know when he had offended this young lady again, but he still braced himself and said, "Come out for a moment, I want to talk to you."
Lin Yueyue glanced at Yu Qing suspiciously, wondering to herself, "Could it be that he wants to confess his feelings to me again?"
"Boring, I don't want to go." Lin Yueyue shook her head, twirling her ballpoint pen between her fingers. She really didn't want to go out!
Yu Qing wasn't about to let her get away with it. He grabbed her hand and, in full view of everyone, dragged her out of the classroom.
The other students in the classroom all showed shocked expressions, and as if they had been injected with excitement, they began to discuss among themselves.
"Holy crap, has Yu Qing gone mad?! He actually dared to hold Lin Yueyue's hand directly."
"As expected of Yu Qing, I wouldn't even dare to dream of it if it were me."
"Coward, I dare to think that."
"Then you're more awesome than me."
Yuanxiu was quietly reading his book, but after hearing the discussions of his classmates around him, his face turned as green as Hulunbuir, and he gripped the book tighter and tighter, with veins bulging on the back of his hand.
Seeing this, someone nearby couldn't help but ask curiously, "Yuanxiu, what's wrong?"
“I…hate!” Yuanxiu gritted his teeth and squeezed out the two words.
"What do you hate?" the man asked, looking puzzled.
"I hate myself for being so useless, I can't even do such a simple problem..."
