Reborn with the Family to Get Rich

Zhang Xuemei has never wronged anyone in this life, except for her youngest daughter who was sent away shortly after birth.

She once secretly went to see the child. Seeing that the child was ...

Chapter 128 Encountering an Acquaintance at a Street Food Stall

"Oh, okay, let's go eat there later." Xu Minghan hadn't had barbecue skewers in a long time, so this would be a good opportunity to satisfy his craving.

"Don't eat yet. How's it going with the questions you asked about Xiaowen and Xiaokai's schooling? What did the school say?"

Zhang Xuemei thought that since her husband and two daughters' household registrations had already been transferred, she didn't need to worry about their schooling. However, she wondered if it would be a bit troublesome for her two nephews who didn't have local household registrations.

Xu Minghan shook his head and said, "The school is on holiday now, and there's nowhere to look for people. I'm also clueless for the time being. If only I had come earlier, I could at least have asked the teachers at the school."

"Third Brother, which primary school are you planning to ask?" Xu Mingwan suddenly asked.

Xu Minghan shook his head. "There's no fixed school, but I think it would be best if it were closer to our new house. My older brothers also rent houses there, so it would be convenient for the two kids to go to school."

"Well, I do know someone who's a teacher."

"Who is it? You're with me every day, how come I didn't know you knew the teacher?" Zhang Xuemei looked at Xu Mingwan curiously.

"You know them too, Third Sister-in-law? They're Ding Ya and Xu Yanhong! They're elementary school teachers, but I don't really know which one." She had only chatted with Ding Ya and Xu Yanhong for a few minutes, and didn't know the specifics.

"Yes, that's true. But it's been quite a few days since we've seen them. We don't have their contact information either; we've just run into them by chance." At this point, Zhang Xuemei regretted asking earlier. Teachers and doctors have incredibly strong connections!

"Alright, Xuemei, you two keep an eye out. If you run into anyone, ask them. I'll also ask around." Xu Minghan had been busy with his stall all year and hadn't gotten to know many people. But he could ask Aunt Xu and Zhao Jiaxing; maybe they knew someone who was a teacher!

"Okay, let's go eat." Zhang Xuemei rubbed her stomach; she seemed to smell the aroma coming from the restaurants outside, which made her even hungrier.

After walking for five minutes, the group arrived at the food stall at the end of the street. A brightly lit sign on the side of the road read "A Liang Food Stall".

"Luckily we arrived early, there are still seats available. Come on, Third Brother and Third Sister-in-law, let's sit here." Xu Mingwan's eyes lit up as she spotted an empty table in the corner outside. She quickly walked over and sat down.

"Here's a menu and a notebook; we'll write our own answers." Xu Mingwan picked up a menu and a small notebook from the table.

"Give me ten skewers of grilled lamb, three skewers of grilled chicken feet, three skewers of chicken wings, and one serving of grilled fish, shall we?" Xu Mingwan was drooling as he wrote, wanting to try everything he saw.

“I’m fine with anything. Don’t just order barbecue, order some other dishes too. Your third brother is treating us today, so don’t be shy.” Zhang Xuemei smiled as she took the menu from Xu Mingwan and began to look at it carefully.

"Hmm, I'd like to order a poached chicken, dry pot braised pork intestines, fish-flavored eggplant casserole, salt and pepper mantis shrimp, and mushroom and beef casserole. What else would you like to order?" Zhang Xuemei looked at the menu and ordered one of everything she wanted to eat, then handed the menu to Xu Minghan.

"I'm fine with anything, Xiao Wan, please take another look!"

"Let's eat first. There are only three of us, and we even ordered some skewers!" Xu Mingwan said, getting up and walking towards the cashier. She had observed before that most of the restaurants here were self-service. You write down your order, give it to the owner, and then just wait for your food to be served.

"Minghan, are they eating crayfish?" Zhang Xuemei turned her head and saw a bowl of bright red crayfish on a table not far away, and her mouth watered instantly.

Xu Minghan stood up, took a closer look, and nodded to confirm, "That's right, it's crayfish. I didn't expect this place to have crayfish! Shall we order some?"

Zhang Xuemei nodded vigorously, then asked her husband to add more dishes.

When Xu Mingwan returned, he still looked puzzled. Only after seeing Zhang Xuemei did he ask, "Third Sister-in-law, Third Brother just went and ordered another serving of crayfish, saying you like it. Is that stuff good?"

"It's delicious, Xiao Wan, you should try some too, if the owner makes it well." In her past life, Zhang Xuemei often made crayfish of various flavors at home every summer—garlic, spicy, thirteen-spice—and she could make them all very well, though the process was quite troublesome.

"Alright, Third Sister-in-law, what would you like to drink? I'll go get it." Xu Mingwan had just sat down when she remembered that she hadn't gotten any drinks yet, so she stood up again.

"I'll have a soda, Minghan, what about you?"

"I'll have a soft drink too!" Xu Minghan thought it wouldn't be fun for a guy like him to drink beer alone, and besides, he wasn't a big drinker, so it wouldn't be good if he drank too much.

Zhang Xuemei quietly leaned close to her husband's ear and whispered, "Minghan, do you think the owner of this food stall might also be...? Didn't crayfish become popular a long time ago?"

Zhang Xuemei felt that many of the dishes at this food stall had a style from later generations. Of course, she wasn't very sure, since she had only ever played Dou Dizhu in her previous life and hadn't researched the origins of these dishes.

Xu Minghan glanced at his wife and whispered, "Shh, don't say it. Who cares if he is or not? It's not like we met a fellow countryman in a foreign land. Keep these thoughts to yourself and never say them again."

Xu Minghan felt that being reborn was inherently absurd. He was just an ordinary person who wanted to work hard and make up for the regrets of his previous life. As for whether there were other lucky people like him and his wife, he didn't care. The world was so big; there were bound to be a few like them. He just needed to live his own life well.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Xuemei covered her mouth and nodded repeatedly. Her husband was right; it had nothing to do with them.
