You are a high-defense...
Farewell and Like
Top floor of the port Mafia, the chief's office.
When Mori Ogai received the text message from Dazai Osamu, he was talking to Rando.
Having regained his memories, Rando is eager to return to France, but Mori Ōgai, who values talent, is reluctant to let him leave. After all, the Port Mafia still poses some threats, and besides Ozaki Kouyou, Rando is the only person he can rely on.
But his repeated persuasion failed to dissuade Lantang from returning to France. The long-haired young man, wrapped in a coat, remained resolute, unmoved by the tempting offers of benefits from Mori Ōgai.
Mori Ougai, seeing Rando's stubbornness, grew hoarse from talking and felt a pang of regret. If he had known Rando would decide to leave after seeing the intelligence, perhaps he shouldn't have sent it out in the first place.
So one side insisted, but the other side wouldn't budge.
During this stalemate, Mori Ougai received a text message from Dazai Osamu. When the phone rang, Chief Mori let out a slight sigh of relief, gestured to Randou, and then took the phone.
Upon seeing the text message, Mori Ougai's expression changed, and he looked up and called out to Randou, who was about to leave.
"Rando-kun, Dazai has gotten into some trouble. You'd better come with me," the black-haired, red-eyed leader said in a deep voice, deliberately mentioning Chuuya's existence at the end.
Lantang, who was about to leave, paused, responded calmly, and then followed Mori Ougai to the underground parking lot.
After getting in the car, Mori Ougai sat in the back seat and said to Randou, who was driving, through the rearview mirror: "They are in the Western restaurant in the Ferris Wheel Mall."
The taciturn Lan Tang nodded slightly, started the car, and headed towards his destination.
-
At this moment, in the Ferris wheel shopping mall's Western restaurant.
As Chuuya Nakahara watched the waiters continuously serve steaks, he suddenly felt uneasy and guilty, and he kept turning his head to look at Osamu Dazai.
The black-haired boy with hawk-like eyes leaned back in his chair, looking relaxed, and casually picked up the ice water on the table and took a sip.
Noticing the gaze beside him, Dazai Osamu turned his head to glance at the impatient Nakahara Chuuya, a hint of pleasure in his eyes. He said with a smile, "Oh, relax, I won't make you wash dishes at a restaurant."
Chuuya glared at him fiercely, his expression annoyed, and said, "You bastard Dazai! Don't talk so casually! And why are you so familiar with this?!"
Dazai Osamu smiled meaningfully, stroked his chin and thought for a few seconds, then teased him like he was playing with a cat, saying, "Hmm, it's probably just as you guessed."
Chuuya Nakahara: "..."
After some banter, the tension eased considerably. But seeing the ever-growing pile of plates beside Tsurumi Kawakami, Nakahara Chuuya's eyelids twitched involuntarily.
He glanced at Dazai Osamu, who was in a good mood, and wondered what Dr. Mori had done to offend him so that he would be forced to bear such a high cost.
Dazai Osamu seemed to notice the confusion on his face and said frankly, "It's nothing really, it's just that Mr. Mori has been a bit annoying lately, and I don't like being forced to make choices."
When this matter was brought up, Dazai Osamu narrowed his eyes, knowing that Mori Ougai would only tolerate such a thing once, and the consequence of tolerating it once would be that he would have to give his answer.
But this doesn't contradict his current desire to see Mori Ōgai's antics.
Dazai Osamu glanced at the time, estimating that Mori Ougai would arrive soon, and waved for the waiter to bring another batch of food before waving them away.
Looking at the table piled high with steaks, Dazai Osamu glanced with annoyance at Tsurumi Nagare, who was engrossed in eating across from him, and asked, "It seems like we ordered a bit too much. Can Nagare finish it all?"
With his mouth glistening with oil and a little sauce still on the corner of his lips, Tsurumi Kawakami looked up, his cheeks still moving, and said in a muffled voice, "Um, I can finish it."
Having received an affirmative answer, Dazai Osamu lowered his head with a slightly satisfied expression, picked up one of the steaks and pushed it in front of Nakahara Chuuya: "Take this opportunity to eat more, you probably won't have another chance to come again."
At least for the time being, Mori Ōgai will not allow him to come again.
Chuuya glared at him angrily, opened his mouth as if to retort, but closed his mouth when he thought of the price and began to eat viciously.
So when Mori Ōgai and Randou arrived and pushed open the door, they saw the three of them eating steak.
Upon noticing Mori Ougai's arrival, Dazai Osamu looked up and waved to him with a smile. However, his gaze paused for a moment when he saw Rando behind Mori Ougai, before he also greeted him with a cheerful expression.
"Mr. Mori, you've arrived." Dazai Osamu was very friendly and even offered them some steaks from the table.
When Mori Ougai saw the table full of steaks and the empty plate next to Tsurumi Kawa, his heart began to bleed. He clutched his chest and suddenly felt a wave of discomfort.
Tsurumi Kawakami greeted them and then warmly invited them to join him. Looking at the steaks on the table, he recommended them highly, saying, "The steaks here are very good. Dr. Mori and Rando, please try them."
Dazai Osamu nodded with a smile and pushed the steak in front of them.
Mori Ougai was in no mood for steak; his heart was bleeding. This Western restaurant was expensive, not to mention the three large stacks of plates piled up beside Tsurumi Kawaru.
On his way there, Mori Ōgai understood the significance of Dazai Osamu's actions.
He looked up at Dazai Osamu, who was smiling impeccably, and felt a headache for the first time. He hadn't felt this way even when he found him secretly taking the expensive medicine that had just arrived at the clinic.
Mori Ougai's expression wasn't very good, but he still maintained a smile. He looked at Dazai Osamu meaningfully and said, "Why are you eating Western food here? I think you need to make a reservation here."
Dazai Osamu remained expressionless and said with a smile, "Since I've never tried Western food here before, I thought I'd bring Ryu to try it."
As he spoke, he turned to look at Tsurumi Kawakami across from him.
Tsurumi Kawakuri slowed down when Mori Ougai and the others came in. When he caught Dazai Osamu's gaze, he blinked and realized what was happening. He nodded to Mori Ougai and said, "Yes, Dazai is right."
Watching their seamless question-and-answer session, Nakahara Chuuya felt a sense of being ostracized. Moreover, the fact that this Western restaurant required reservations meant that Dazai Osamu had arranged everything long ago. Did Tsurumi Kawakami know about this?
Chuuya Nakahara looked at Tsurumi Kawaru suspiciously, but he couldn't tell anything from his face.
Upon hearing their reply, Mori Ōgai's smile froze. He turned and stared intently at Tsurumi Kawa for a few seconds before looking away, a fleeting emotion flashing across his dark red eyes.
He calmly finished his steak, then got up and went to pay the bill.
Once Mori Ougai left, only Dazai Osamu and the other three remained in the private room.
Chuuya Nakahara glanced nervously at Osamu Dazai, sensing a strange sense of danger from his conversation with Mori Ougai. He held his tongue, wanting to speak freely now that everyone was leaving.
But before he could speak, Lantang, who had been standing in the background the whole time, suddenly said to him, "I'm going back to France."
Stunned by the news, Chuuya Nakahara froze for a few seconds, not expecting Randou to be so quick.
Tsurumi Kawakuri didn't notice what was going on on their side. After finishing the last two steaks, he let out a burp and felt a little full for the first time.
After drinking a glass of ice water, Tsurumi Kawakami felt a little better, but when he looked up and met Dazai Osamu's scrutinizing gaze, he inexplicably felt a little guilty and shrank back in his chair.
Just as he was about to speak, he suddenly froze, his pupils shrinking sharply.
After Dazai Osamu told Mori Ougai about the reservation, he had been watching Tsurumi Kawaru's expression. When he saw that Tsurumi Kawaru did not show any surprise, he immediately understood that Tsurumi Kawaru knew that this Western restaurant was not included in the free coupon program.
But Dazai Osamu didn't know why Tsurumi Kawakami didn't expose him and instead followed his words to come to this restaurant.
Therefore, Dazai Osamu, who had been staring at him, immediately noticed Tsurumi Ryu's strange reaction and frowned, staring intently at him.
Tsurumi Kawaru looked dazed for a moment, then hurriedly said to Dazai Osamu, "Dazai, my piggy bank is at the bottom of the wardrobe. Please keep it safe for me. I'll come back to get it from you later."
"Also, please tell Dr. Mori that I really like Yokohama as it is now."
"I feel the call; I'm going to other worlds."
-
One week later.
Dazai Osamu, who had already joined the Port Mafia and become one of its members, was wearing a black overcoat. He sat in Tsurumi Kawaru's usual window seat, staring at the scenery outside, and muttered, "What the hell? This guy just suddenly disappeared."
Thinking back to what happened in the private room of the Western restaurant that day, Dazai Osamu still found it somewhat unbelievable.
After Tsurumi Kawa finished speaking and inexplicably said goodbye to them, he disappeared.
The instant he disappeared, Dazai Osamu reacted and ran over to check. He found no trace of the supernatural ability; the chair was still warm, and there was still some ice water that Tsurumi Kawa had drunk from on the table.
But the person, alive and well, vanished right before their eyes.
"This is so irresponsible, saying they'd entrust the piggy bank to me for safekeeping..." Dazai Osamu muttered, turning to look at the pink piggy bank on the table. "I guess I should just spend the money."
In the top-floor leader's office, Mori Ougai, who rarely had a moment to rest, was also thinking about what had happened in the restaurant's private room a week ago. He had just paid the bill and returned home, his heart still bleeding, when he pushed open the door to the private room and saw the chaotic scene.
Dazai Osamu, the King of Sheep Chuuya Nakahara, and Rando were huddled around a chair, looking flustered. Some of them even lifted the tablecloth and peeked inside, as if they were looking for someone.
Just as Mori Ougai, looking completely bewildered, was about to speak, he suddenly realized that Tsurumi Kawa was missing from the private room. He remembered the way everyone looked at him when he asked the question.
Thinking of this, Mori Ougai pinched the bridge of his nose, looking somewhat tired.
While Mori Ogai felt somewhat comforted by the message that Tsurumi Kawaru had Dazai Osamu conveyed to him, he was also utterly perplexed by Tsurumi Kawaru's background.
Both he and Dazai knew about the origins of Tsurumi River School, but it was precisely because they knew that they felt an immense headache.
Mori Ōgai thought for a moment, then called Dazai Osamu and asked him to come to the top floor to see him.
