Ji Qian thought she was having a bad day. In five years in the entertainment industry, she was still a barely known, faded starlet, with a pile of weird black gossip accusations. Recently, people e...
In this tense moment, Ji Qian and her team's flashlights performed steadily, as always illuminating only objects within a three-meter radius.
The only saving grace was that, with the faint light of her flashlight, Ji Qian managed to spot the most prominent building in the room—a huge circular platform.
Ji Qian took two steps forward cautiously, and was about to step onto the round platform, but the flashlight still failed to illuminate the entire platform.
"What is that?"
Just as Ji Qian hesitated, Han Mengyao, who had been closely following behind her, stepped onto the round platform first.
Han Mengyao quickly surveyed the area around the circular platform and soon discovered something amiss.
Behind this round platform stood a huge goat sculpture!
Ji Qian jogged a few steps to Han Mengyao's side, reached out and took her arm, and then mustered up the courage to look up.
This goat sculpture is at least three meters tall.
The evidence is that Ji Qian and the others' flashlights could barely illuminate the sculpture's eyes; anything above that was just darkness.
The eyes of this sculpture are likely made of glass or similar material, as they reflect a strange light when illuminated by a flashlight.
In addition, the rectangular pupils characteristic of goats make them appear quite eerie at first glance.
Ji Qian stared at the splattered dark brown marks on the goat's chin, and a sense of fear washed over her. She then turned her hopeful gaze to the only nocturnal creature present.
“Count, I’m going to offer you a chance to redeem yourself…”
Before Ji Qian could finish speaking, Count Lanruer, sensing something was amiss, decisively declined:
"No need, it wouldn't be good if I took the opportunity to run away."
Upon hearing this, Ji Qian gave him a "you're being too polite" look and said very generously:
"It's alright. I always believe in trusting those I don't trust and not using those I do use."
Count Lanruer was about to refuse when Han Mengyao, who had been silent all along, suddenly interjected:
"Don't worry, we will ensure your safety."
Unlike Ji Qian, who had no knowledge of Western mysticism, Han Mengyao knew exactly what Earl Lanruer was resisting.
It is important to know that in the time of Count Lanruel, goats were not only animals, but also symbolized messengers of the devil.
For an old nobleman like Count Lanruer, who received religious education from childhood, the supernatural power of demons was far more intimidating than darkness and ghosts.
Ji Qian was unaware of this, and naturally couldn't understand why Earl Lanruer, who had been behaving very obediently the whole way, would be so resistant to her suggestion.
With Han Mengyao vouching for him, Earl Lanruer's originally firm attitude finally softened.
So Ji Qian took out the rope she had prepared in advance, quickly lassoed Count Lanruer, and tied a very delicate Chinese knot at the end of the rope.
After finishing this series of actions, Ji Qian patted Earl Lanruer on the shoulder and showed him the rope in her hand:
"You're definitely safe now. Go for it! We believe in you!"
Count Lanruer looked at the intricate knots around his waist that he had never seen before, and opened his mouth several times as if to say something, but in the end he had no choice but to give up and just drift away silently with his head down.
Ji Qian stood in the center of the round platform, holding the rope, feeling the rope in her hand being constantly tightened and then loosened.
This cycle repeated itself three times before the count, who was in charge of scouting, finally floated back to his original spot, looking exhausted.
"There are corridors behind the goat and on both sides of the room, and all the rooms in the corridors are locked, so I can't get in."
As he said this, Count Lanruer kept glancing resentfully at the rope tied around his waist, the implication in his eyes quite clear.
Ji Qian ignored him and turned to discuss the next steps with Han Mengyao.
Because the area of unknown space to be explored was too large and there were no fixed cameras, in order to ensure the broadcast effect, Ji Qian decisively dialed the assistant director's phone.
Twenty minutes later, the assistant director appeared on the round platform with two cameramen.
The assistant director turned his head away from Ji Qian's scrutinizing gaze, and said somewhat guiltily:
"I volunteered to be the third photographer because I was worried about the safety of all the teachers."
Ji Qian glanced at the obvious shoving marks on the assistant director's clothes, then at the other two cameramen behind him who were covering their mouths and snickering, but ultimately couldn't bring herself to expose him.
"Next, we will split into three groups to conduct the investigation. Please ask the assistant director and the two cameramen to assign the teams to be responsible for."
For some unspoken reason, none of the three photographers present wanted to be in charge of Ji Qian and Wang Yingying's group.
Unfortunately, after a series of overt and covert competitions, including physical fights, verbal battles, and workplace bullying, the three still couldn't determine who was superior.
So, Ji Qian, who was getting a little impatient, stepped forward and chose the fairest and most historically significant competition in the world for them—rock-paper-scissors.
Ultimately, the assistant director, with an outstanding record of two losses out of three rounds, was unfortunately assigned to Ji Qian.
"Oh right, I almost forgot!"
After finally picking up the camera, the assistant director seemed to suddenly remember something, so he put down the camera, turned around and went outside, shoving a huge backpack through the door.
"Teacher Ji, here are the things you requested."
"Thank you for your hard work, assistant director."
Ji Qian took the backpack, unzipped it, and saw two long-handled hammers inside.
Ji Qian handed the two hammers to Han Mengyao and Ying Xu respectively:
"We don't have time to unlock them one by one, let's just break them down."
After speaking, Ji Qian turned to the assistant director, smiling as she asked for his opinion:
