Chapter 71 Licking the pig offal clean

Hearing the woman's soft murmur, the cooks, who were already lined up neatly, straightened their backs even more.

As they came in and out, their figures passing each other, Ruan Xianxian whispered a reminder, "Be careful, lunch is ready and waiting for you to come back."

The young soldier, around eighteen or nineteen years old, nodded emphatically and gave her a shy, bashful smile.

The campsite was very simple, with iron pillars at the four corners, a waterproof tarpaulin on top, and a makeshift stove built on the ground. Pots, pans, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, and ingredients were all provided.

We will safeguard the motherland's territory, and the motherland will not neglect its children. There will be plenty of rice, flour, and other staple foods. The only drawback is the lack of meat and vegetables.

Greenhouse cultivation is not yet widespread, and there are not many types of vegetables available for consumption in April. The campsites mostly consist of wild vegetables, as well as potatoes and radishes for winter.

There's no cabbage left; we've probably eaten it all.

Meat was also unavoidable. Due to the influence of the environment and the difficulty of transportation and storage, the camp only had a few large basins of pig offal left from last night's meal.

Mu Xia looked around, feeling a bit lost. She was skilled in martial arts, capable of spies and assassinations, and in literature, she could only sew—but she really couldn't cook!

Xiang Hongjun, this straight-laced old man, probably thought from the bottom of his heart that there was no woman in the world who couldn't cook, which is why he transferred her here without even asking.

After getting familiar with the environment, one of the slightly plump aunties started giving instructions, pointing at two farmers, "You two, go and knead the dough and make the pancakes."

Then, pointing to a frail girl in the corner, he said, "Go peel the potatoes, cut them into chunks, and dice the radish."

Finally, a pair of slanted eyes fell on Ruan Xianxian and the other two, their gaze full of criticism and disdain. "You three should clean up those basins of pig offal."

Then he muttered under his breath, "That vixen, she doesn't look like she can get anything done."

He led the last three aunts of similar age to discuss how to cook, talking animatedly as he grabbed a radish from the bag, smeared it with dirt, and put it in his mouth to eat.

The group exchanged glances, then followed suit, claiming to be thirsty and each taking a radish.

The aunt leading the group was talking enthusiastically when she glanced sideways and saw that Ruan Xianxian and the other two were not moving. Just as she was about to get angry, she saw the two men who were making pancakes scoop out a large basin of white flour from a bag.

Enraged, she threw down the radish, groaning in distress, "Are you all trying to kill yourselves? Scooping up so much flour, how are we supposed to make a living? You're just eating the government's food without a care in the world!"

The two farmers, one named Tielian and the other Gaode, had both fallen from a height in the rain the night they arrived, injuring their legs and barely able to walk.

Gao De shrank back and didn't say anything. The middle-aged man called Iron Chain was not someone to be trifled with. He raised his eyebrows and said, "What did you say? Say it again."

He was an old widower in the village. He had accidentally killed his wife years ago, and because he was too poor, he never remarried. He took care of himself and was transferred to the cooking team to help out when he was able to cook.

Realizing that the other party was not to be trifled with, the leader's eyes flashed, and he turned his gun on Ruan Xianxian and her two companions.

"What are you looking at? You think you can clean yourself just by looking at pig offal? What else can the organization do besides sending people like you to the countryside to hold us back and seduce men to have children?"

Mu Xia, with her temper, was about to teach this leader a lesson about why the flowers were so red, when Ruan Xianxian had already swallowed her anger and brought over a basin of pig offal.

With a pitiful look on her face, she said, "Auntie Yang, please open your mouth."

"Who is Aunt Sheep?" the old woman glared, then came to her senses: "No, why should I open my mouth?"

Ruan Xianxian didn't mind the smell. She reached into the sewer and rummaged around for a while, pulling out the adrenal glands from the pig's offal. She then stepped forward and reached out to pry open Aunt Yang's mouth.

In a low, amused tone, he said, "Washing pig offal!"

"Didn't you ask me to wash it? Aunt Yang, could you please lick this latrine clean?"

"Ugh! Ugh!" Aunt Yang struggled violently. She considered herself very strong and was a master at home and in the fields, but she had no chance to fight back against this seemingly frail girl.

The small kidney was forcibly shoved into her mouth, and instantly a mixture of blood, stench, and the smell of urine filled her mouth, making her gag and want to vomit.

Ruan Xianxian, quick-witted and agile, grabbed the other person's hand and pressed it back down.

This is even more disgusting.

Even the three aunties watching couldn't help but gag.

One of them, sensing something was wrong, quietly slipped out of the camp.

Ruan Xianxian glanced at it, but ignored it.

"What are you doing? Let go quickly." After the others finished vomiting, they rushed over to help, but unfortunately, one of them failed to break through Mu Xia's defenses.

While blocking people who tried to pull her away, she thought to herself: This guy is even more ruthless!

She could never have imagined having someone lick pig offal clean... What a brilliant idea!

Seeing that Ruan Xianxian was about to reach into the basin with her other little hand, Chen Zhaodi immediately stepped forward and picked out the small kidneys.

"Unfortunately, can we still eat the stuff she licked clean?"

Ruan Xianxian taught her: "Adrenal glands, also known as kidneys, can cause acute poisoning if accidentally ingested, leading to dizziness, headache, and palpitations. It is not recommended to eat them."

Then, changing the subject, she said, "Since this auntie sheep wants us to clean it up, let's clean it up first, regardless of whether it's edible or not."

Chen Zhaodi understood and quickly picked out the small kidneys from the several basins.

Just then, a tall figure strode in, his anger rising as he looked at the chaos in the camp.

"What are you doing? Let go."

Ruan Xianxian doesn't have many advantages, but he's incredibly quick-witted. He could tell from the badges on the shoulders of the newcomer that he was a deputy regimental commander.

She let go and took a step back, and Aunt Yang, now free, vomited.

Before the deputy regimental commander could get angry, Ruan Xianxian spilled the beans, telling him everything that had happened since she came in, of course, with some embellishments.
