Return to 1996, My Rich Family

Feng Haidong lived an unremarkable life and passed away peacefully. After his death, he found himself back in 1996.

Now in his prime at the age of thirty, Feng Haidong resolves to try just a ...

Chapter 44 Father personally delivers crayfish

After leaving the newspaper office, Feng Haidong, thinking about the good sum of money he had just received for his writing, decided not to go back to the factory but instead rode his bicycle home directly.

I bought some meat at the market and some vegetables from Liu Cuiping, the woman who used to sell vegetables from her tricycle.

When Liu Cuiping saw that it was Feng Haidong buying groceries again, she asked with a smile, "Little Feng, why are you the one buying groceries all the time now?"

Feng Haidong responded with a smile: "Isn't it because Wanling is quite busy? Her company is currently developing a large liquor market, so she has a lot of work every day and doesn't have time to come back and cook. Anyway, there's no work at our factory, so I come back early to buy groceries and cook at home."

Liu Cuiping was somewhat surprised to hear this: "So Xiao Feng can cook?"

Feng Haidong said, "It's so-so. Although it's not as good as Wanling's skills, we don't have any other choice right now."

Liu Cuiping said, "You're too modest. Judging from your shopping skills, Xiao Feng, you have a better eye than your son Lu. I'm afraid your craftsmanship is probably just as good, right?"

Feng Haidong said, "Thank you for the compliment, but please don't say that to my Wanling. She needs to keep thinking that her cooking is better than mine, otherwise it will be difficult for her to cook for us in the future."

Liu Cuiping was taken aback when she heard Feng Haidong say this, but she quickly understood and burst into laughter, saying, "Hahaha, Xiao Feng, you're so funny. I'll tell Xiao Lu about this later, so she'll know that you deliberately hid your good cooking skills just so she would cook for you."

Feng Haidong quickly said, "No, sister, we often buy vegetables from your family, you can't stir up trouble in our family."

Liu Cuiping was really amused by Feng Haidong's words, and even the people at the nearby stalls laughed along with him.

While making merry, Feng Haidong finished buying the groceries.

As usual, Liu Cuiping would weigh a few extra ounces and also give Feng Haidong some scallions and ginger.

Afterwards, Feng Haidong also expressed his gratitude to the elder sister.

Carrying the groceries he had bought, Feng Haidong leisurely pushed his bicycle home.

As he stepped into the residential compound, he immediately saw several people standing at his door.

After carefully examining the area, Feng Haidong quickly hurried to his front door.

Rushing to his doorstep, Feng Haidong looked at the old man standing there with surprise and said, "Dad, what brings you here?"

One of the people waiting at Feng Haidong's door was Feng Baoan, who had arrived yesterday.

The other is Feng Haidong's father, Feng Chungu.

Feng Chungu looked his son up and down, then said, "Don't just stand there, open the door quickly."

Feng Haidong immediately snapped out of his daze and quickly replied, "Okay, Dad, I'll open the door right away. I really didn't know you and Uncle would come over together this morning."

Feng Baoan laughed and said, "Haha, Haidong, you have no idea. After I went back yesterday, I told those young people in the village, and they caught almost fifty catties in just one afternoon. If I hadn't stopped them, they probably would have caught even more for you."

Upon hearing this, Feng Haidong noticed a large bamboo basket next to Feng Baoan's leg, against the wall. Judging from the sounds coming from inside the basket, it must contain fresh crayfish.

Looking at the large bamboo basket, Feng Haidong estimated that it probably weighed more than fifty pounds.

After opening the door, Feng Haidong first let his father in, then pushed his bicycle through the door before turning around and going out to help Feng Baoan carry the bamboo basket in.

As Feng Haidong lifted the large bamboo basket, he estimated its weight and became even more certain that it weighed about fifty pounds.

Keep in mind that the bamboo basket was dry; these fifty pounds of crayfish were quite substantial.

They carried the shrimp into the yard. Feng Haidong took out the large basin his son used to bathe in when he was a child, and together with Feng Baoan, they poured all the shrimp from the large bamboo basket into the basin and drew water from the well to temporarily keep them alive.

Looking at the large bowl full of crayfish, Feng Haidong quickly said to Feng Baoan, "Uncle, this is really too much trouble for you. Thank you so much."

Feng Baoan chuckled and said, "What are you thanking me for? Actually, after I received these shrimp for you, I realized that I couldn't transport them to you. There are so many crayfish, the public bus probably wouldn't let me on, so I had to go to town to find a vehicle, and that's when I ran into my brother Chun Gu."

Upon hearing this, Feng Haidong looked at his father. Without even asking, he knew that his father must have helped him find the truck that delivered the crayfish.

Sure enough, Feng Baoan then said, "My brother Chun Gu is really capable. As soon as he heard that you wanted it, he immediately contacted a truck that delivers fish here and helped bring it over."

After listening, Feng Haidong quickly said to his father, "Dad, thank you so much."

Feng Chungu said directly, "You're just planning to leave your uncle and me standing here? We helped you bring all those shrimp over, and you won't even give us a sip of water?"

Feng Haidong quickly said, "Yes, yes, Uncle, Dad, let's go inside, I'll make you some tea."

Feng Baoan chuckled and said, "It's nothing, it's nothing."

When Feng Chungu saw his son open the door and enter the house, he greeted Feng Baoan, saying, "Baoan, come in and sit down. Let your nephew make you a good cup of tea and treat you well."

Feng Baoan said, "Brothers, we're all family, why be so polite?"

Then the two of them went inside and sat down together.

Feng Haidong took out some good tea leaves that his wife's workplace had previously given him, and also took out a white porcelain cup that his factory had given him, and specially brewed two cups of good tea for his father and Feng Baoan.

After brewing the tea, Feng Haidong was indeed a little reserved in front of his father.

Feng Chungu looked at his fourth son and was somewhat confused.

Why would the fourth son, who has always loved the arts, suddenly start going into business?

Seeing that neither his father nor Feng Baoan spoke, Feng Haidong had no choice but to continue speaking.
