Feng Ye just wanted to save someone who had fallen into the sea, but he didn't expect to drag himself down with them, returning to 1990.
He also wanted to do business with the Russians, t...
In the days that followed, everyone continued to work at sea, and the fishing operations proceeded in an orderly manner.
Occasionally, they can also see sea turtles flashing across the surface of the sea.
Whenever this happens, everyone remembers the two sea turtles that were released back into the wild, and then they look at each other and smile.
The days passed peacefully and joyfully, without any surprises or joys.
However, the gains are increasing day by day.
From initially catching two or three thousand catties in a single net, to later catching five or six thousand catties or more, and occasionally even breaking the net, catching tens of thousands of catties of fish.
It's strange, though. More than ten days have passed and there haven't been any major surprises, only occasional small ones.
Just like this morning, when Feng Ye got up to take over the first net, it was all red.
As soon as the net was pulled out of the water, the dim light revealed red fish, and everyone cheered excitedly.
Generally speaking, red fish fetch a decent price, and some are even very expensive.
"Wow, it's all red! What kind of fish is this?"
"Red is great! Let's guess what kind of fish this is. I'll go first, I bet it's a red snapper."
"Damn, you guessed the most likely one. I'll bet on Redfin Fish."
Ye Chenliang thought for a moment and said, "Red snapper, I really can't think of any other fish that likes to gather in groups and is also red."
Feng Ye, who was in the driver's cab, could vaguely hear everyone cheering. He guessed that they had caught a good catch, so he couldn't help but get out of the cab.
What good stuff is available online?
"They're all red, and we haven't been able to tell what kind of fish they are yet. We're making a bet. Ah Ye, you've come at the right time, come and guess too."
"Okay, let me think about it."
After a moment's thought, Feng Ye said, "Squid, I bet it's a red squid."
"Haha, red snapper, red snapper, red sea bream, red squid, four answers, let's see who guesses right."
"Don't tell me that none of the four of us guessed correctly?"
"That's unlikely. Surely one of them will match up, right?"
"That's hard to say. There are many kinds of red fish, such as red snapper, red grouper, and red snapper."
"What's the point of guessing? We'll know once the net is pulled in..."
Feng Ye didn't participate in their argument and returned to the wheelhouse to continue steering the boat.
He only went down to see what was going on after he saw them hoisting the goods up.
When he went down to the deck, the fishing net had already been hoisted up, and Ye Chenliang was untying the knot at the bottom of the net bag.
As the net bag gradually opened, a dazzling deep purple-red color came into view.
"Haha, squid, lots of big squid, I guessed right..."
"Hey, why is it squid?"
"Yeah, it would be great if a popular online fish could come along..."
"Hmm, red snapper is fine too, it's worth more than squid."
Ye Chenliang and the other two were somewhat disappointed.
The price of squid is simply too cheap. It's only a few cents a pound on land, and even cheaper when sold to fish-collecting boats.
Feng Ye smiled and said, "Red squid, huh? Not bad, they're big, and there's a good amount of them..."
Red squid are cheap, but they are an excellent choice for drying into squid jerky or making squid shreds.
They've been out for over ten days, and they should be going back in two or three more days. This batch of red squid can be taken back for processing.
The temperature is low now, and with ice to keep it fresh, it won't spoil.
Compared to selling them directly, the added value after processing is higher; a pound of dried squid can sell for several yuan.
Dried squid is even more expensive, but it's simple to make and doesn't require much effort.
The key is that this stuff is actually quite delicious, fragrant and chewy, making it a great snack.
Red squid, strictly speaking, is not actually a squid; it's just a common name that includes the word "squid." Its scientific name is *Squid chuatsi*.
Although squid and cuttlefish both belong to the class Cephalopoda, order Psittacomorpha, they belong to different families.
One belongs to the family Cuttlefish, and the other to the family Squid.
However, at first glance, the two look exactly alike, much like twins.
They are all cylindrical in shape with a pointed end, resembling the head of an ancient spear or a modern rocket.
However, upon closer inspection, there are still differences.
Squid belong to the order Oculomotoria. The outermost layer of their eyes is a transparent surface called the "pseudocornea," which has a small opening that connects to the outside world, hence the name "Oculomotoria."
Squid, on the other hand, have closed eyes; their pseudocorneas are sealed and do not communicate with the outside world.
This method of identification is a bit complicated for ordinary people, but there is an even simpler way: look at their fleshy fins.
The squid's fins are short and located at the end of its body, with the two fins touching to form a heart shape; the squid's fins are located on both sides of its body, in the posterior two-thirds of the body.
On the left is squid, on the right is cuttlefish.
It is also worth noting that squid is more tender and has a better texture than cuttlefish, and its price is naturally much higher.
As a result, some unscrupulous merchants sell squid as cuttlefish, deceiving consumers.
"Ah Ye, can this red squid be eaten raw?"
Ye Chenliang swallowed hard and asked expectantly.
Squid are attracted to light and are easy to catch. They occasionally use hand nets to catch some for a treat.
"sure."
Feng Ye nodded, "But I don't recommend it. It's better to catch some small squid instead; those taste much better than red squid."
"As long as it can be eaten raw, I don't care about the taste. The main thing is to eat something new. I've never eaten such a big squid raw before."
"Yes, let's try eating one or two raw later..."
The other two boatmen also became interested and expressed their desire to give it a try.
"Eat if you want."
Feng Ye didn't care.
