Reuniting with My Ex-Boyfriend at a Wedding

A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.

That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.

The two greete...

Chapter 140 Can You Give Me This Bouquet of Flowers?

Ling Yan's cheeks flushed, and her ears felt slightly hot. She tucked the hair by her ears with her fingers and pretended to be calm as she spoke for Xu Yanfeng: "It doesn't matter what the flowers look like. What matters is the thought behind the flowers."

Xu Yanfeng looked towards Ling Yan, not to see her, but to focus on what she had just said. After a moment, he lowered his eyelashes and looked at the flowers in his hand. This was the first time in his life that he had received roses, and it was from a girl. It sounded a little funny, but he couldn't laugh at all.

On such a special holiday, I don’t know where Xia Xi got the roses from.

Could it be true, as Tang Yizhou said, that she dug it out from some flower garden?

The little sister sitting next to Ling Yan poked her arm and winked at her. She thought the same as she did, that the flowers in Xu Yanfeng's hand were bought for her.

Ling Yan's heartbeat quickened, and she felt a little restless as she spoke again, "Compared to those overly packaged flowers, I prefer these natural ones. I'm going to put them in a vase anyway."

Xu Yanfeng didn't listen to what she said. He looked around, found a separate table, took away the things on it, and used it to put his flowers.

Ling Yan looked at his actions in astonishment. What did he mean? Wasn't he going to give it to her now?

Xu Yanfeng placed the roses and sat down in his previous seat. He glanced at the other people, raised his chin slightly, and pointed at the scattered cards on the table: "Still playing?"

"Go ahead and play! Aren't we waiting for you?" Tang Yizhou gathered the cards, a tangerine slice in his mouth. "It's all your fault! My cards were so good in the last round, I was sure to win, and you walked away midway."

Xu Yanfeng took the cards one by one, held them in his hand, and did not respond to him.

All the cards on the table had been taken away. Fu Li sorted the cards while glancing at the roses on the table. He suddenly remembered that Xia Xi had asked him for the address of the club before.

He didn't ask Xu Yanfeng directly, but asked indirectly: "Who did you buy the roses for?"

Xu Yanfeng played a card without raising his eyes.

Tang Yizhou was quick to speak and took over the conversation first: "I just asked, but he didn't answer. He was acting so mysterious. He must be hiding something from us. Xu Er is a taciturn person and keeps everything to himself." He kicked Xu Yanfeng's foot under the table, "Xu Er, are you okay? You're hiding something like this from us. Do you still consider us brothers?"

Ling Yan's heart was filled with emotion when she heard this. She pressed the tip of her finger on the ring on her index finger and turned it a few times to divert her attention, but it was useless because she also wanted to know whether the flowers Xu Yanfeng bought were for her.

"Afeng, just tell everyone." Ling Yan couldn't hold back any longer and urged.

As soon as she opened her mouth, it gave everyone room for imagination. Tang Yizhou immediately pointed at Ling Yan and asked, "Is it for her?"

It's no wonder he thought so. Of all the people in the room, Ling Yan was the most likely person. Xu Yanfeng wouldn't buy flowers for a man; that would be too terrifying.

Xu Yanfeng stretched out his hand and threw out four twos, a bomb. Tang Yizhou, as his next player, couldn't play the cards behind him. He stamped his feet and cursed: "Fuck, you uncle, do you know how to play? You play such a big card right at the start."

Fu Li took a sip of the white wine beside him and reminded him, "Xu Er is trying to change the subject."

Xu Yanfeng raised his eyelids and glanced at him. Being smart, he had to point out his intentions.

Tang Yizhou looked at Xu Yanfeng: "I almost got fooled by you."

Luo Jinnan also spoke up: "Xu Er, no one is as suspenseful as you."

Xu Yanfeng dealt out a few cards slowly and in a calm tone, correcting their misunderstanding: "I didn't buy the flowers." From the beginning, he never said that he bought the flowers. It was their preconceived notion.

Ling Yan was startled, her eyes fixed on his face, and she heard his next words: "Someone else gave it to me."

The blush on Lingyan's face faded, and her heart, which had been beating with excitement, gradually calmed down. This feeling was like a bucket of cold water poured over her head, extinguishing all her unrealistic fantasies.

She was also ridiculous. How could she think that the flowers were bought by Xu Yanfeng for her? They had known each other for so many years, when had Xu Yanfeng ever given her flowers, and roses at that?

"That's really strange." Tang Yizhou didn't notice Ling Yan's change of expression and laughed, "Someone actually gave you roses on New Year's Eve. A man or a woman? Do we know each other?"

Xu Yanfeng refused to answer more questions. He threw out several cards in succession, leaving only one in his hand. He bent his knuckles and knocked on the table: "Concentrate on playing cards, you are going to lose."

"What did you just play? I wasn't listening carefully." Tang Yizhou's attention returned to the cards, and suddenly his eyes went dark.

Xu Yanfeng pinched the only remaining card between two fingers, turned it over, placed it face down on the table, crossed his hands on his legs, and leaned back in his chair in a leisurely manner, letting them fight while he sat firmly on the throne.

He took the time to pick up his phone and check WeChat, but Xia Xi didn't send any messages.

Xu Yanfeng reached into his trouser pocket and touched a few candies, which he hadn't touched in many years. He twisted the candies with his fingertips and somehow, he suddenly peeled one open.

Xu Yanfeng lowered his head slightly and put the candy into his mouth. A rich milky flavor melted on his tongue. He frowned and almost spit it out, but he didn't. He moved the candy to the side with the tip of his tongue.

"What did you eat?" Tang Yizhou saw a bulge on Xu Yanfeng's cheek.

Xu Yanfeng turned over the card on the table and pushed it to the middle: "Win."

Tang Yizhou kicked him again: "I'm asking you a question."

Xu Yanfeng shuffled the cards with both hands and moved the candy in his mouth to the other side. His teeth collided with each other, making a slight sound. He replied impatiently, "Candy."
