A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.
That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.
The two greete...
After Xia Xi finished speaking, she pushed him away and went into the tent to rest.
The inflatable mattress was of average comfort, but Xia Xi was so sleepy that she fell into a deep sleep not long after lying on it.
A dark grey blanket was draped over her. The palm-wide zipper of the "small window" on the side of the tent was unzipped, letting in a gentle mountain breeze, causing Xia Xi's hair to flutter slightly. The birdsong wasn't disturbing, but rather a great sleep aid.
Even though everyone was in high spirits, no one was making loud noises, and all communication was in a normal tone.
"Do you know how to grill? The chicken legs need to be turned over, otherwise they will get burnt."
"Please bring me the cumin powder, thank you."
"Anyone want some toasted steamed bread slices? They're freshly baked."
"Please give me some more chili."
"Who wants corn juice? I got it."
Xia Xi took a nap, and the air she inhaled into her nose was no longer the fresh scent of grass and wood, but was replaced by the smell of barbecue. She twitched her nose, bent her elbows, and sat up on the inflatable cushion.
She felt for her cell phone, held it up to check the time, and found that she had slept for a full hour.
The door of the tent was lifted by a hand, and Xu Yanfeng leaned in: "I was just about to ask you to eat something. Are you awake?"
Xia Xi wanted to rub her eyes, but then realized she was wearing makeup. She pressed her eyelids lightly with the base of her palm, her voice muffled, "Maybe I smelled the fragrance in my dream, and I was woken by the temptation."
"If you don't get up soon, they will eat you all. They are all foodies." Xu Yanfeng stretched out his hand towards her.
Xia Xi put her hand on it, and he pulled her up and took her out.
He was joking, there was still a lot of food and she couldn't finish it all by herself.
Xu Yanfeng personally grilled a whole chicken wing for her, flipped it over skillfully, and sprinkled various seasonings on it.
He was wearing a casual blue shirt, which was soft in texture, with the sleeves rolled up and not all the buttons buttoned. His posture was not lazy, but he looked serious with his head down, as if he was doing some precise experiment.
Xia Xi raised her phone to secretly take pictures of him anytime and anywhere. He noticed and turned to look at her. She didn't want to be discovered, so she quickly put her phone in her pocket and said something else: "I remember you can't cook."
"Barbecuing is different from cooking." Xu Yanfeng said, "I just watched them spend a long time doing it. I learned it on the spot."
Xia Xi didn't quite trust his cooking skills. She glanced at the chicken wings on the grill and reasonably questioned, "You're just learning this now. Is it really that good?"
Xu Yanfeng said with a half-smile, "It should be better than the dumplings you make. At least the chicken wings won't show the filling."
"Hey!" Xia Xi laughed in anger and launched a more violent verbal attack. "The dumplings showing the filling are just unsightly at best, but it won't have a big impact. Eating undercooked chicken wings will give you diarrhea, and if they're burnt, they're inedible."
"Thank you for your reminder. I will pay attention to it."
"I don't dare eat it."
"Please give me a little more trust, thank you."
"I don't want to give it."
"Xia Xi, don't let yourself be unappreciated once you have it. You weren't like this before."
Xia Xi was speechless. She had just been arguing with him fiercely, but in an instant she seemed like a different person. She looked at him shyly, raised her hands in surrender, and declared that he had won: "Okay, you feed me poison, and I will eat it with a smile."
She reflected on it and realized that her attitude was indeed problematic. Men need encouragement in their cooking skills, not constant criticism. Of course, the most important reason was that she couldn't give him the impression that she was turning her back on him.
Xu Yanfeng gave her a sidelong look: "Don't talk nonsense, why would I feed you poison?"
Xia Xi nodded obediently and said submissively: "Yeah, you feed it all honey."
The Secretary General was eating a kebab of lamb and accidentally overheard the conversation between the two. He had worked with Xu Yanfeng for several years, but had never seen him like this. Suddenly, the meat in his mouth didn't taste good anymore.
The chicken wings were grilled until they were sizzling with oil, and a layer of honey was brushed on the surface, turning it into a caramel color. After grilling for a while, Xu Yanfeng wrapped the handle of the skewer with a paper towel and handed it to Xia Xi: "It should be cooked. Try it and see how it tastes."
Before he even took a bite, Xia Xi started acting, his expression exaggerated as if he had eaten a delicious meal: "It smells so good, you can't be the legendary genius chef!"
Xu Yanfeng: “…”
It's too exaggerated. Who taught her to act like this?
It was a little hot. Xia Xi blew on it and took a careful bite. The skin was slightly charred, and the meat inside was very tender and juicy. She widened her eyes and said, "I'm not bragging, it smells really good!"
"Really?" Xu Yanfeng was half-believing and half-doubting, and couldn't tell for a moment whether she was acting or not.
"Haven't you ever tasted what you baked yourself?" Xia Xi asked.
The Secretary, who had been silent for a long time, interrupted, "Xia Xi, before you woke up, our high and mighty Chairman never touched any barbecue utensils. Everything he ate was grilled by me!"
Xia Xi coughed, covered her lips and smiled, glancing at Xu Yanfeng with sparkling eyes: "Is that so."
Xu Yanfeng glanced at the minister, blaming him for being too talkative, and lowered his head to continue grilling skewers for Xia Xi, five skewers each of lamb and beef.
The minister laughed and ran away, sitting cross-legged on the lawn, chatting with the people next to him about gossip: "You have no idea how disgusting our chairman is. Let me tell you, I just..."
Xia Xi leisurely devoured a whole chicken wing. When the skewers were almost done, he handed them to her. He opened a bottle of orange juice and placed it next to her. She felt so comfortable, not having to worry about anything. She just sat back on the moon chair, enjoying the beautiful natural scenery and the sight of the elegant and noble boy making soup for her.
She crossed her legs and ate until her mouth was full of seasoning and oil.
Xu Yanfeng didn't stop, skewered the corn and put it on the grill, then handed her a tissue without looking away. After waiting for a while, when she didn't take it, he looked up. She was so addicted to being served that she was too lazy to lift her arms and just tilted her face towards him.
