A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.
That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.
The two greete...
Zhou Du received a call from Xia Xi and drove his friend's car to the designated location.
It was a hotel, or perhaps an entertainment club, very high-end, and in any case, inaccessible to ordinary people. Zhou Du had heard about it when he accompanied his boss to a cocktail party, but he had never been there.
He was very nervous along the way, with no expression on his face. His fingers were tightly gripping the steering wheel, and sweat was oozing from his palms.
Although he knew it was fake, he still couldn't remain calm and cursed the chairman surnamed Xu a thousand times in his heart.
Meeting Xia Xi at the hotel entrance, Zhou Du looked up at the towering building. As the sun set, the blue glass panels turned a deep black. He touched the tip of his nose and coughed. "Is he up there?"
Xia Xi was dressed in pure black, with a fisherman's hat on. With his hands tucked into the square pockets of his sweater, he murmured, "Yeah."
Zhou Du scratched his brow and raised his chin, making many small movements that were a symbol of his turbulent emotions: "Then, then let's go in."
Xia Xi went in with him. The front desk clerk made the usual inquiries, which Xia Xi had anticipated. This hotel and club was members-only, and they could even recognize every face in the upper-class circle, including their favorite cars. Xia Xi whispered a few words to the receptionist, who immediately bowed respectfully, gestured, and walked her to the elevator, considerately pressing the floor button for her.
Zhou Du couldn't understand her actions: "What did you say to that person?"
Xia Xi shook his head and refused to say anything.
When I met Chairman Xu that day, I left the contact information of his assistant before leaving. The chairman personally told me that if I needed any help, I could call his assistant.
I never thought that this promise would come in handy so soon.
Before coming, Xia Xi called the gentlemanly assistant and asked him to help find out which floor the private room Xu Yanfeng and his friends had booked was on, and to provide her with convenient access to the hotel.
She had just told the front desk the name of her assistant, and the assistant must have informed them in advance, so the front desk treated her as a guest of honor.
Walking into the elevator, Xia Xi said, "Lend me your phone."
Zhou Du took out his cell phone from his jeans pocket, entered the lock screen password, and handed it to her.
Xia Xi held his phone in one hand and her own phone in the other, checking the WeChat of Tang Yizhuo, whom she had blocked. His WeChat ID was the initials of his name plus a phone number.
She used Zhou Du's cell phone to call Tang Yizhou.
Xia Xi looked up at the floor number on the elevator display. There were only two floors left. She took a deep breath, put her phone back in her pocket, got into the mood in advance, took Zhou Du's arm, and leaned close to him.
"bite."
A clear and pleasant reminder sounded in her ears. Xia Xi squeezed Zhou Du's sleeve, causing the stiff fabric of his jacket to wrinkle. She lowered her voice and reminded Zhou Du, "Be natural and don't look around."
The elevator door opened and Xia Xi walked out side by side with him, her footsteps making very little sound on the light brown carpet.
In the box, Tang Yizhuo's cell phone rang. He handed the pool cue to the waiter beside him, then took the phone from the waiter. He squinted his black eyes and saw that the call was from an unfamiliar local number.
"Hello, who is this?" It was a bit noisy around them, so Tang Yizhou covered one ear and asked again, "Who is this?"
Zhou Du followed Xia Xi's instructions and said to Tang Yizhou on the other end of the phone, "Come out, I have something to tell you."
"No, who are you..."
Before Tang Yizhou could finish his words, the call was disconnected.
Zhou Du asked Xia Xi uncertainly, "Can he be fooled?"
Xia Xi had no doubt at all: "I have dealt with him several times. He is very curious and will definitely come out to see what is going on." To put it bluntly, Tang Yizhuo would taste the saltiness of the manure cart every time it passed by his door.
Xia Xi was very good at judging people. Tang Yizhuo, who had been hung up on for no apparent reason, came out of the box with a frown and full of curiosity. He looked at both ends of the corridor but didn't see anyone he knew.
etc!
Tang Yizhuo's gaze suddenly stopped, and he raised the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose to create a look. His eyes behind the lenses widened, staring intently at a couple holding hands not far away.
He didn't recognize the man, and the woman had just taken off her hat and turned to look for the room number, facing him sideways. Who else could it be but Xia Xi?!
Tang Yizhou was stunned for a few seconds, then quietly retreated a little like a thief, fearing that the two people in front of him would discover him. He hid in the corner of the wall, with only the upper half of his face exposed to peek out, and subconsciously held his breath.
They entered a private room and closed the door. Only then did Tang Yizhou stand up straight and let out a long breath.
Xia Xi, Xu Er’s girlfriend, actually came to the hotel alone with a boy. Is this normal?
Tang Yizhou slowly retreated back to the box, his mind full of images of Xia Xi and that man going out together, completely forgetting what he came out for.
"Zhouzi, it's your turn. Don't stand there like an idiot. Hurry up." Luo Jinnan urged loudly.
Tang Yizhou was a man who couldn't hide his secrets. His face was filled with shock, and one glance revealed that something was wrong. Fu Li poked him with a pool cue: "What were you doing out there? Did someone take your soul away?"
"No." Tang Yizhou glanced at Xu Yanfeng who was resting on the sofa. He had always been eloquent and silver-tongued, but for the first time he felt embarrassed as he didn't know how to start.
Ling Yan sipped her pomegranate juice, touched the shoulders of the girls next to her, and teased Tang Yizhou with them: "Could it be that one of his ex-girlfriends came looking for him? Look how scared he is."
Tang Yizhou swallowed his saliva and said, "No."
"Stop dithering. Say what you want to say and play basketball now," Luo Jinnan said. "I seriously suspect you're just pretending. Seeing you're about to lose, you're putting on an act here, right?"
