Reuniting with My Ex-Boyfriend at a Wedding

A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.

That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.

The two greete...

Chapter 236 Ziheng is your child

In the afternoon, Guan He returned to work at the company. He only took half a day off.

When Guan He went to the president's office to deliver the contract, Xu Yanfeng still remembered the reason for his leave. After signing the contract, he asked with concern, "How is your mother's illness?"

"The test results are out, and it's a benign tumor," Guan He said. "I accompanied her to complete the hospitalization procedures this morning. If everything goes well, she can arrange surgery the day after tomorrow."

The day after tomorrow is Sunday, so he doesn't need to ask for leave, which is just right.

Xu Yanfeng capped the pen, closed the document, and handed it over: "If you need anything, just let me know."

"Thank you, Mr. Xu."

Guan He turned around and left with the contract. He held the door handle and opened the door. Suddenly, he remembered meeting Xia Xi in the hospital in the morning.

"Is there anything else?" Xu Yanfeng asked when he saw Guan He stopped at the door and was reluctant to go out.

Guan He turned around, and considering that Xia Xi was a special person to Mr. Xu, he told him what he had seen and heard: "Mr. Xu, I accompanied my mother to the inpatient department this morning, and I ran into Miss Xia there." He added, "I'm talking about Miss Xia Xi."

When Xu Yanfeng heard Xia Xi's name, he was stunned. The first thing he thought of was the injury on her head. Was it not healed yet, or did it have sequelae after it healed?

"You said you met her in the inpatient department?" Xu Yanfeng asked urgently.

Guan He knew that it was right to tell Mr. Xu that he cared about Xia Xi very much, as evidenced by the fact that he had previously asked her to decorate the villa.

"It was in the inpatient department, but the person who was sick wasn't her. It was probably her family. A middle-aged woman came out of the ward later and handed her the ID. I heard her mention my grandmother or something."

Xu Yanfeng felt relieved, but she was still a little worried about whether her grandmother's illness was serious.

Seeing his brows slightly furrowed, Guan He immediately understood and told him the name of the hospital and the floor where he was admitted.

After work, there was a dinner party in the evening, but Xu Yanfeng turned it down, which was within Guan He's expectations.

The driver who was driving Xu Yanfeng looked in the rearview mirror and asked him where he was going.

Xu Yanfeng held the cigarette between his fingers, but did not light it. He turned it back and forth several times and crumpled it until it became soft.

The boss didn't say anything, the driver had no idea what to do, and the car just stayed where it was.

After two or three minutes, Xu Yanfeng opened his mouth and said the name of a hospital.

The driver drove the car to the hospital and stopped for a while at a supermarket on the way. According to Mr. Xu's instructions, he went down to buy a fruit gift box and some nutritional supplements suitable for middle-aged and elderly people.

Xu Yanfeng didn't know what disease Xia Xi's grandmother had, so the nutritional supplements he asked the driver to buy were the most basic ones that most patients could take.

Su Jinru went to the kindergarten to pick up the two children after school and stayed at home to cook for them. Xia Xi asked a nurse to help take care of their grandmother, and went to the supermarket near the hospital to buy daily necessities for hospitalization.

There were only my grandmother and the nurse in the ward, chatting casually.

"Your granddaughter is so filial, busy and pretty." The nurse, a plump woman in her forties, was sitting on a chair peeling an apple. Her eyes narrowed into slits when she smiled. "She's dressed so elegantly, so she must have a good job. That's great."

The hospital bed rose, and the grandmother half-reclining on it, her face smiling, but her eyes revealing heartache: "She is my granddaughter, just like any other granddaughter. I have three granddaughters, each with her own challenges. The one you see is already supporting the entire family in her twenties. I don't want to burden her, but I'm old, there's nothing I can do."

"Please don't say that in front of the child. She takes care of you willingly. She'll be upset if you say that."

Someone knocked on the door. The nurse put down the fruit knife and apple, stood up and went to open the door.

A tall young man was standing outside the door. He was wearing a slim and straight black coat and a suit underneath without a tie. He still looked serious, indifferent and inviolable. The man had a handsome and noble face, and was holding a gift box for visiting a patient in his hand.

The nurse had never seen such a person before. She was frightened by his aura and stammered, "Who are you looking for?"

The man spoke, his voice gentle and not so distant: "Excuse me, is Mrs. Jiang Peishan staying in this ward?"

The old lady had a limited vision and could not see the person outside the door. She was a little curious about who would come to see her, as the voice sounded unfamiliar.

"Yes, yes." The nurse quickly made way for him, invited him in, and informed grandma, "Grandma, a guest is here."

Grandma sat up a little straighter and looked outside. As the footsteps approached, Xu Yanfeng appeared in her sight. Grandma was very surprised and her eyes widened.

Xu Yanfeng explained his purpose: "My assistant happened to run into Xia Xi when he came to the hospital this morning. I was surprised to hear that you were in the hospital, so I came to see you."

Grandma looked at him blankly, her mind was slow, and she almost thought that he and Xia Xi had reconciled. But then she thought, Xia Xi had said many times in front of her and Su Jinru that there was no possibility for her and Xu Yanfeng to be together in this life.

After calming down, grandma raised her hand and pointed to the chair beside the bed and said to him, "Sit down."

The nurse took the things from Xu Yanfeng's hands with both hands and put them away, then asked him if he wanted some water.

"I don't want to drink, thank you." Xu Yanfeng sat down, picked up the hem of his coat that was hanging on the ground, gathered it together, and put it on his legs.

Grandma glanced at the bewildered nurse and said to her, "Xiaofang, go sit outside and rest for a while. I'll call you if anything happens."

"Hey." The nurse breathed a sigh of relief, opened the door and went out. He didn't walk far before sitting on the public plastic chair on the left side of the door.

Xu Yanfeng looked around and didn't see Xia Xi in the ward.

Grandma said: "Xixi went to the supermarket to buy things."

Xu Yanfeng pursed his lips and smiled faintly. He didn't come here to see Xia Xi. It was better if she wasn't here, so as not to create an awkward atmosphere in front of the old man. "What's wrong with you? Can you tell me?"
