Reuniting with My Ex-Boyfriend at a Wedding

A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.

That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.

The two greete...

Chapter 266: No Feelings for Me

Xia Xi was caught off guard and the spatula fell from her hand and hit the pot. She hurriedly picked it up and her little finger accidentally touched the edge of the pot and was burned. She bit her lip and didn't make a sound.

Xu Yanfeng's attention was on her face and he didn't notice this little accident.

Xia Xi quickly calmed down and said calmly, "It was a last-minute decision. You want to ask me where I got the money to go abroad when my family was in trouble? Zhou Du gave it to me. He has money."

When that person was mentioned, the atmosphere suddenly became solemn and Xu Yanfeng stopped talking.

Trying to remove a deep-seated thorn is bound to bring out blood and flesh.

Xia Xi changed the subject: "Have you peeled the shrimp?"

Xu Yanfeng: "Right away."

After working for about an hour, Xia Xi cooked four dishes and a soup: shrimp with garlic mushrooms, salt and pepper pork ribs, shredded potatoes with vinegar, fried tofu, and loofah and egg soup.

After serving the dishes on the table, Xia Xi took off her apron and called the two children to eat: "Ziheng Youyou, go wash your hands, we are ready to eat."

After turning off the TV, the two children went to wash their hands. Youyou leaned over and took a look at the dishes on the table. They were all her favorites. She clapped her hands happily and said, "Mom's cooking is the best in the world! Ziheng, don't you agree?"

Ziheng nodded in agreement.

"Then you have to eat two bowls of rice." Xia Xi smiled and tapped the forehead of this little flatterer.

Youyou raised three fingers: "I'll eat three bowls of rice!"

Ziheng: "Why didn't you say you ate five bowls?"

Youyou: "I eat eight bowls."

Ziheng: “…”

The atmosphere at the dinner table was warm and joyful, exactly what Xu Yanfeng had been looking forward to. However, when he took a bite of the food, he fell silent. Youyou hadn't exaggerated; Xia Xi's cooking was indeed the best in the world.

From this, he couldn't help but wonder how she could take care of two children abroad, complete her studies excellently, and have a thriving career.

Was it Zhou Du who helped her too?

*

At eight o'clock in the evening, Xia Xi went to the two rooms in turn to tuck in the children and sit by their beds to talk to them for a while.

Coming out of Youyou's room, Xia Xi looked towards the terrace.

Xu Yanfeng was sitting in the sofa chair, with a bottle of red wine and a high-heeled glass on the transparent glass high table next to him.

He was alone, drinking by himself. From his back, he looked a little lonely, as if he had a lot on his mind.

He was in a bad mood while eating and didn't say a word the whole time. Xia Xi thought back, her eyes dimmed a little, perhaps because she mentioned Zhou Du, which brought back bad memories.

He asked so suddenly that her brain short-circuited and she couldn't find a suitable excuse, so she had to push it to Zhou Du.

She forgot that Zhou Du was a person who could not be mentioned to him.

Xia Xi lowered her eyes, a sour feeling rising in her heart. She pinched her fingertips hard, forced herself to suppress the emotion, and walked slowly towards the room.

"Xia Xi." Xu Yanfeng called her in a low voice, "Come here."

According to their current relationship, Xia Xi should have pretended not to hear what he said and went back to her room, but her feet seemed to be out of control and she turned in another direction and walked towards the terrace.

"What's the matter?" Xia Xi said in a flat tone, forcing herself not to look at him. She looked into the distance, gazing at the twinkling lights in the dark night.

"Sit down and talk."

Xia Xi felt a tightness in his chest. He glanced at the other sofa chair and sat down as he was told.

"I remember you couldn't cook before." Xu Yanfeng picked up the goblet, sipped the red wine, and his deep eyes lingered on her face.

Xia Xi was slightly stunned and a little bewildered. He called her over just to talk about this?

The terrace was colder than indoors. Xia Xi crossed her arms over her chest and said absentmindedly, "It's impossible for people to remain unchanged."

Xu Yanfeng quickly responded: "So you've become cruel."

Xia Xi pursed her lips, speechless, and looked at him subconsciously. He took another sip of wine, and the glass was empty. He put the glass on the high table and picked up the bottle to pour the wine.

Xia Xi suddenly noticed that there was only a little wine left in the bottle. He didn't know whether he had originally taken half a bottle of wine or he had finished the whole bottle in such a short time.

He can't drink much.

"You should drink less. Auntie's not here, and no one can move you if you're drunk." Xia Xi advised him kindly, "Don't you have any work arrangements tomorrow? Drinking too much will affect your work."

Tomorrow is Saturday, but he never has any days off.

Xu Yanfeng took a big gulp of wine, feeling like paste was stirring in his brain. His dark eyes narrowed. "I want to ask you how you trained your heart to be so ruthless. I'm not as good as you in this aspect. It's been seven years. It's been seven years since we broke up, which is much longer than the time we were together. If time can really dilute everything, then why can I still remember things from seven years ago so clearly? Is it because time is not long enough?"

He seemed to be talking to himself and didn't need anyone to answer him.

Xia Xi's heart skipped a beat and she pinched her fingertips unconsciously. The tip of her index finger turned red from being pinched. It hurt at first, but then it became numb and she could no longer feel anything.

"Xu Yanfeng." Xia Xi lowered his head and spoke with difficulty, "You've drunk too much."

She just refused to respond to his words directly.

"Yeah?"

As his voice fell, a shadow overturned. Xia Xi suddenly raised her eyes and met Xu Yanfeng's bottomless black eyes.

He was indeed drunk. When you get closer, you can see that his face is abnormally flushed and his eyes are not as clear as before, but a little blurry.

After fixing her gaze on his eyes for a while, Xia Xi turned away and stood up, supporting herself on the armrest of the sofa chair: "You should go back to your room and rest early. The temperature has dropped, and it will be difficult to get enough fresh air after drinking..."

Before she could utter the word "pain", Xu Yanfeng suddenly grabbed her shoulder. He lowered his eyes, his breath hot, his voice a little hoarse: "Were you sincere when you were with me?"
