Chapter 274 That Play Was Not Her Intention

Zhou Du stood there in a daze, wishing that Xia Xi hadn't left yet. If so, he could let Xia Xi face Xu Yanfeng's interrogation alone.

Seeing that he was silent, Xu Yanfeng took out his phone from his pocket and opened the live broadcast screen recording that Tang Yizhou had sent him in front of Zhou Du: "You shouldn't deny what you said yourself."

Zhou Du listened to the voice coming from Xu Yanfeng's phone. It was what he had said that afternoon, and he certainly wouldn't forget it. He said he was a virgin and solo, so he shouldn't make up rumors about him.

Zhou Du scratched his head. Who would have thought that a CEO like Xu Yanfeng, who was busy with all kinds of affairs and made hundreds of millions of dollars every minute, would read such boring entertainment gossip.

Xu Yanfeng: "Don't you plan to say anything?"

Zhou Du remained silent, he didn't know what to say.

Could it be that what he said during the live broadcast was false?

In short, he could not reveal Xia Xi's secret. He had promised her that he would keep it for her forever.

Xu Yanfeng didn't give Zhou Du a chance to lie. He then shot an arrow, catching him off guard. "Seven years ago, it was you who called Tang Yizhou and deliberately lured him out of the box, where he ran into you and Xia Xi together. You know which day I'm talking about."

Zhou Du felt his scalp tingling instantly. How did Xu Yanfeng know after so many years?

Because it was so sudden, Zhou Du had no time to hide his expression. Shock and surprise were clearly written on his face. His scalp wasn't just tingling; he had a splitting headache!

"So it's fake, right?"

Xu Yanfeng was good at observing people's expressions and could clearly see what kind of psychological activities were hidden behind Zhou Du's expression.

The air was still for a long time. Zhou Du, who was as stiff as a statue, finally decided to move. He squatted on the ground, holding his head with both hands, neither crying nor laughing.

Xia Xi, Xia Xi, I didn’t say anything. Xu Yanfeng guessed it himself. Don’t blame me!

Xu Yanfeng had already guessed most of it. He relaxed now, staring at Zhou Du. He no longer found him repulsive. His tone became more steady: "Stand up and explain yourself clearly."

Zhou Du stood up slowly, feeling irritable and depressed. He subconsciously reached into his trouser pocket, but didn't find what he wanted. He slowly turned around, picked up the cigarette box from the coffee table, knocked it on his palm, shook out a cigarette, put it in his lips, lit it, and took a deep breath.

He turned his back to Xu Yanfeng and spoke slowly: "If you have a guess, don't ask. I can't say."

Xu Yanfeng had come across the city to find him just to find out the reason behind this. How could he not ask, "Why can't I tell you?"

"I can't tell you, that's all. If you really want to know, go ask Xia Xi. I've made an agreement with her beforehand. Even if you tell me the truth, I won't reveal it to you against her wishes..."

Wait, he seemed to have said too much. Zhou Du braked the car in time and tilted his head to take a puff of his cigarette.

Isn't this putting him in a difficult position?

Xu Yanfeng frowned and murmured, "It really was Xia Xi's idea."

Zhou Du wanted to slap himself. He shouldn't have talked so much to Xu Yanfeng.

"Well, please go ahead. I'm going to the bathroom." Zhou Du made up an excuse and walked quickly to the bathroom to avoid Xu Yanfeng.

He closed the door, took the cigarette from his lips, put it out in the sink, rinsed his face with cold water, then he let out a long breath and called Xia Xi.

Xia Xi hadn't arrived at the hotel yet. The traffic in North City was more congested than she had imagined. Even at this late hour, there was still a long traffic jam.

"Hello……"

Before Xia Xi could say anything more, Zhou Du shouted anxiously, "Help! Your man has come to my house to kill me! You can't handle him by yourself! I'm so overwhelmed!"

"Wha...what?" Xia Xi was confused by his outburst. After a pause, she asked in confusion, "What do you mean my man?"

"You don't know your man? Xu Yanfeng! He appeared outside my door silently like a ghost. I almost died of fright when I opened the door. Do you know that my heart is very fragile?"

"Xu Yanfeng looked for you?" Xia Xi finally understood the important information from his nonsense. Blinking rapidly, she asked nervously, "You didn't say anything, did you?"

Zhou Du leaned against the tiled wall, tilted his head slightly, and sighed before explaining the current situation to Xia Xi, lest she come over unprepared. "Xu Yanfeng already knows that what happened between you and me in the hotel back then was a fake." Afraid that Xia Xi would misunderstand, he hurried to distance himself from the matter. "I didn't say that, and I don't know how he knew it was me who called Tang Yizhou that day. Think of an excuse. I think this matter can't be covered up anymore."

"Okay, I'll be right there."

After Xia Xi finished talking to Zhou Du on the phone, he asked the driver to turn around and return the same way.

Zhou Du took a deep breath, opened the bathroom door and went out, then continued to face Xu Yanfeng with gritted teeth.

Xu Yanfeng found a sofa chair and sat down, looking relaxed, as if he was at home.

Zhou Du coughed lightly and showed his hospitality as the host of the house: "Would you like some water?"

"No." Xu Yanfeng replied calmly. The next second, he asked a question, "Did you pay for Xia Xi to study abroad?"

Zhou Du was stunned for a moment and almost blurted out: What do you mean I paid for it? Isn’t that your father’s money?

The words were on the tip of his tongue when he suddenly realized that he couldn't say this, so Zhou Du nodded slowly, his expression dull: "Ah, what's wrong?"

"Nothing, just asking." Xu Yanfeng pinched the corner of his phone and tapped his palm lightly. In the blink of an eye, he threw out another question, "Did you also settle the incident in her family back then?"

Zhou Du: “…”
