A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.
That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.
The two greete...
Xia Xi held up her phone in one hand and casually fiddled with the tassels on the curtains with the other, listening to Zhou Du's nonchalant words on the phone: "Why are you in such a hurry to pay me back? I don't need any money."
"Big Internet celebrity Zhou, I know you're not short of money." Xia Xi smiled, "Even brothers should settle accounts clearly. The money you borrowed must be repaid sooner or later."
Zhou Du replied lazily, "Okay, I'll send you the card number later." After a pause, he asked worriedly, "You haven't told Xu Yanfeng about this yet?"
Xia Xi was tired of standing, so she curled up in the lazy sofa beside her. She glanced to the side and saw Xu Yanfeng who had come in at some point. Her mouth was open, but her voice died in her throat, and her temples were throbbing.
Recalling the conversation with Zhou Du just now, she seemed to have no time to say anything before she gradually relaxed and smiled at Xu Yanfeng.
"Hello? Hello? Xia Xi, I'm talking to you. Are you playing dumb or are you offline?" Zhou Du determined that Xia Xi was the former. "Playing dumb with me, huh? Take my advice, you'd better tell Xu Yanfeng about this. Aren't you afraid of affecting their father-son relationship..."
"I'll tell you later." Xia Xi said hurriedly, "Don't forget to send me the card number!"
She took the phone down, hung up, and stood up from the sofa.
The silence seemed to last only two or three seconds, but it felt very long. Xia Xi casually found a topic to talk about: "When did you come here?"
Xu Yanfeng curled his lips calmly and smiled: "Do you mean when I arrived, or when I entered your room?"
Xia Xi heard that his tone was not right, but she didn't know how to explain it. She was confused and thought of just telling him the whole story. He already knew most of the facts anyway, so this last part didn't make any difference.
At this moment, Xu Yanfeng asked, "Why didn't you ask Zhou Du for money instead of me?"
Xia Xi: “…”
The messy emotions disappeared in an instant. Xia Xi exclaimed, her eyes widening. It turned out that Xu Yanfeng's depression came from the fact that she didn't borrow money from him?
She was no longer worried, but curled the corners of her lips.
In contrast to her, Xu Yanfeng still had a sullen face: "What are you laughing at? Answer properly."
"No." Xia Xi snuggled into his arms, wrapping her arms around his waist. "I borrowed it a long time ago, and I haven't reconciled with you yet."
Xu Yanfeng asked: "Why borrow money?"
Xia Xi's relaxed nerves tensed up again. She looked up at him and silently organized her words.
Before she could think of a response, Xu Yanfeng guessed, "Because you studied abroad before?"
From what she said on the phone just now, it seemed like she had borrowed quite a bit of money. She had previously said that Zhou Du had given her money to study abroad. They weren't that kind of relationship, so she definitely wouldn't take Zhou Du's money for nothing; she had to pay it back.
Xia Xi didn't want to lie to him: "No."
Xu Yanfeng persisted: "What's that for?"
Xia Xi pursed her lips, feeling a little embarrassed. She didn't want to lie, nor did she want to tell the truth. She looked at him and asked cautiously, "Can I not tell you?"
Xu Yanfeng remained silent, looked at her, and after a few seconds, he slowly nodded as if in compromise.
Xia Xi thanked him for his thoughtfulness, raised her arms around his waist, hooked them around his neck and pressed him down, kissed him on the lips, and said with a smile, "Thank you."
Xu Yanfeng was very calm. He wasn't so easy to dismiss. Expecting him to stop pursuing the matter with just a kiss was a bit too easy for her: "That doesn't count. If you want to thank me, then show your sincerity and thank me well."
His eyes were deep as he spoke, and it was clear at a glance that he was thinking about something more than simple things. Xia Xi choked. She had never met anyone who was better at business than him. No wonder the Xu Group had grown so big and powerful under his leadership.
Xia Xi patted him on the shoulder and was about to leave, but he hooked his waist and pulled her back. Xia Xi was anxious, and her body was hot from the inside out: "What are you doing? This is my home, and it's time to eat."
Xu Yanfeng smiled and touched her forehead with his: "Look how scared you are, what can I do?" He was not going to do anything to her here, as he always paid attention to his image in front of her family.
Xu Yanfeng kissed her and then let her go. He took out a thin leather wallet from the inside pocket of his suit. There was only his ID card and a few cards in it, no cash. He took out a black card and gave it to her.
"There won't be a next time." Xu Yanfeng scratched her nose with his card. "If you need money, you can only come to me."
Xia Xi looked at his actions, feeling both amused and annoyed. "My salary is high, more than enough for me to spend. I don't need to..." As he was speaking, the man narrowed his eyes, looking unhappy. Xia Xi stopped him in time and changed her words, "Okay, okay."
She took the card and flicked her fingers: "I'll use this card to buy a bag later. Are you satisfied?"
Xu Yanfeng nodded: "Barely satisfied."
Xia Xi laughed and sat back on the sofa, and Xu Yanfeng squeezed in with her.
After a while, Xia Xi received the card number sent by Zhou Du and transferred the money to him.
Zhou Du replied to her on WeChat: "Received."
While Xia Xi was operating, Xu Yanfeng stayed by her side the entire time, one hand tightly clasping her waist as he sighed, "Zhou Du is so good to you."
Hearing him mention Zhou Du again, Xia Xi glanced at him sideways and said, "I seem to smell something sour." Then she lowered her head and found an emoticon package to send back to Zhou Du.
"Your nose is not working properly." Xu Yanfeng pinched her nose. "You told me last time that he has no feelings for you. I believe you."
"Really?" Xia Xi responded softly, stuffed the phone into the crack of the sofa, and sat on Xu Yanfeng's legs. Her eyes flickered a few times, staring at his lips, and she said as she got closer, "Let me taste it to see if it tastes sour..."
Xu Yanfeng's hand on her lower back suddenly tightened, and the next second, she kissed him, savoring it carefully.
