A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.
That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.
The two greete...
Zhou Du got up from his chair, thought about it, and could probably guess why Xia Xi was looking for him at this time, so he simply sat back, answered the call, and turned on the hands-free mode.
Xia Xi had just arrived home and thought about the incident affecting Zhou Du. After all, he was a public figure with so many fans, and his career might be affected. He wanted to know how he was doing.
"Are you busy?" Xia Xi's tone was calm, not like he was affected by the ups and downs outside.
Zhou Du glanced at the screen in front of him, where the barrage of comments was still scrolling.
"It's better to arrive at the right time than to arrive early. Are you going to eat the hot melon?"
"666, a call between two parties."
"Isn't this a conspiracy?"
"What collusion? Zhou Du was still live streaming when the internet erupted, completely bewildered."
Zhou Du laughed, his voice slightly raised, as if nothing had happened: "Ah, it's okay, tell me if you have anything to say."
His voice sounded so normal that Xia Xi thought he didn't know what was going on online. "Didn't you see the trending searches on Weibo?"
Zhou Du: "I haven't had time to see it yet, but I've been informed."
Xia Xi felt bad: "I'm sorry, I made you take the blame again."
"Well, it's no big deal. I'm in the media business after all, so I've seen a lot of ups and downs." Zhou Du consoled her, "Besides, I'm used to taking the blame. It doesn't matter."
Hearing him say this, Xia Xi felt even more guilty. Zhou Du was the most innocent. He had helped her so much, but received no benefits and was even implicated. "They must be coming for me..."
"Not necessarily." Zhou Du interrupted her, "Maybe it's directed at me. I'm so angry, maybe I'm blocking someone's financial path."
Xia Xi was speechless for a moment, then realized Zhou Du was jokingly trying to comfort her and smiled: "They've even pointed out my name, saying that Xia Xi has bad character. Is your name Xia Xi?"
Zhou Du hadn't read Weibo, so he didn't know what people were saying. "People who say things like that are just jealous. Don't take them to heart. Is the guy named Xu next to you?"
"Well, what's wrong?"
"Don't worry about it. Let him handle it. He should send a lawyer's letter if necessary. The internet isn't beyond the law these days," Zhou Du said. "Don't worry about me either. I'm fine. I'm doing fine."
Zhou Du wasn't worried about Xia Xi. She wasn't a fragile person. On the contrary, her resilience far surpassed that of ordinary people. This little fight wouldn't hurt her; it would only make her angry. Besides, she had Xu Yanfeng by her side. That man was no pushover, so handling this kind of thing was a piece of cake.
After talking about this, Zhou Du hung up and turned his gaze back to the live broadcast screen, only to find that the number of viewers had skyrocketed.
"I'll say it again. Anyone who believes something that's made out of nothing is an idiot." Zhou Du picked up the product handed to him by the assistant broadcaster. "Everyone, please disperse. I'm not an entertainment marketing account. Let's get back to the point..."
*
Some people listened to Zhou Du's explanation, and combined with the content of the phone call between Zhou Du and Xia Xi that was made public, they basically believed that Xia Xi was framed. However, more people did not understand the situation and were misled by the online public opinion, thinking that Xia Xi was morally corrupt.
Those people couldn't find Xia Xi's Weibo and had nowhere to vent their anger, so they posted on their personal homepages to curse her. Some even went to the official Weibo of the variety show to post some obscene words.
The Internet was a mess, Xia Xi was too lazy to look at it, so she threw her phone aside and went to the bathroom to take a bath.
Zhou Du's guess was correct. At most, her mood would be affected a little, but she wouldn't be completely devastated.
Xu Yanfeng had been on the phone, contacting the public relations department to address the online rumors. By this point, he already knew who was behind them. Such a large-scale smear campaign wouldn't be possible without significant financial resources. But the most urgent task was to prevent the situation from escalating further.
We'll figure out how to settle the score later.
As orders were issued one after another and the development went as Xu Yanfeng expected, he breathed a sigh of relief and went to find Xia Xi.
There was music coming from the bathroom. It was a soothing English song. Xu Yanfeng knocked on the door outside. After waiting for two seconds, no one answered. His heart tightened slightly and he pushed the door open and went in.
Xia Xi was soaking in the bathtub. On the shelf were drinks and a plate of cut fruit. She was eating an orange with her eyes wide open. She looked at herself first, then at him: "How did you get in?"
"I knocked on the door, but you didn't hear me." Xu Yanfeng smiled helplessly, "I thought you fainted."
He walked over, squatted down, and put his hands on the edge of the bathtub.
Xia Xi put her hair up, but the soft hair at the back of her neck was inevitably wet and stuck to her skin. She turned off the music and propped up her head with her hands: "Is everything settled?"
Xu Yanfeng reached into the bathtub and scooped up some water to pour over her shoulders: "Almost."
"Do you know who did it?" Xia Xi asked, then began to guess. "I just thought carefully. Back then, besides you, the people who entered the room were also your childhood friends, and Miss Ling, who adored you, was also among them."
Xu Yanfeng raised the corners of his lips slightly, he is really smart.
"You're still laughing." Xia Xi splashed water on his face. "You're the one who caused all the trouble, and in the end, I got scolded for nothing. Is that fair?"
Xu Yanfeng's handsome face was stained with water droplets, and his clothes were also not spared, covered with dark spots. He held Xia Xi's wet hand and said in a strange tone, "Don't talk like I have something with her. I don't."
Xia Xi believed him and didn't argue with him on this topic. She lowered her eyelids and stared at their clasped hands: "Can we talk in a different way? I'm not wearing anything, don't you think it's weird?"
"I don't think so." Xu Yanfeng's eyebrows were bright and he was smiling.
"You don't think I do." Xia Xi pulled out his hand and gestured to the door, "You go out first."
