A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.
That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.
The two greete...
Xu Yanfeng touched the wound on his forehead with his fingertips. Before entering the room, he fiddled with the hair on his forehead a few times, trying to cover it up, but he didn't expect that the sharp-eyed Su Jinru still discovered it.
He smiled and said, "I accidentally bumped into it."
"Is it okay?" Su Jinru didn't quite believe it. She felt that he was not a careless and reckless person, but she couldn't expose it in front of him.
"Xia Xi has already taken care of it for me. It's nothing serious."
"That's good, that's good." Su Jinru thought for a moment and pointed to the kitchen. "I made some soup. Xixi loves my soup the most. Come stay for dinner tonight. You don't have anything else to do today anyway."
Xu Yanfeng coughed dryly and glanced at Xia Xi, asking her what she meant with his eyes. Xia Xi was a little tired and didn't want to go through with it anymore. "How about we go home after dinner?"
Since she said so, Xu Yanfeng certainly had no objection.
Xia Xuan munched on a crunchy apple, turned her head and looked at the two of them. She couldn't help but grumble, "I really admire my brother-in-law. It's such a small matter, and you're still waiting for the decision. Your family status is really worrying."
Xia Xi snatched her apple, took a bite, and stuffed it back to her: "Watch your TV."
"Xixi, come here." The faucet in the kitchen was running, making a sound, and Su Jinru called her.
Xia Xi chewed an apple and got up from the sofa.
Su Jinru was washing Chinese chrysanthemum by the sink. Xia Xi liked to put it into soup and eat it hot.
When Xia Xi walked to the side, Su Jinru looked at her. She noticed when she just entered the door that Xia Xi had taken off all the makeup on her face.
Turning off the faucet, Su Jinru said, "You didn't get any trouble when you went to the Xu family, did you?"
Xia Xi: “Ah?”
"Don't try to fool me." Su Jinru's expression was unusually serious. "After all, there's a huge gap in social status. Even if you gave the Xu family a grandson, I don't think it's likely you'll be fully respected. I can see that you like Xiao Xu, and he's sincere about you. If you really want to get married, you have to be mentally prepared. Although I'm urging you to marry Xiao Xu as soon as possible, I actually feel... well, I don't know how to put it, I'm not quite sure."
"Mom." Xia Xi opened his arms and hugged her, rubbing his chin against her shoulder. "I know you are worried about me. His mother is very good and treats me very well. She is just like you, gentle and kind."
Su Jinru: "What about his father?"
Xia Xi paused, speechless. After learning the whole truth from Xu Yanfeng, she had lost even the most basic respect for this man.
Su Jinru narrowed her eyes: "Why aren't you talking?"
"His father...is not important. I don't live with him." Xia Xi said angrily, "We will probably have less contact in the future."
She said "rarely" because she was afraid that Su Jinru would think too much. In fact, they probably wouldn't have any contact anymore.
"Is this your idea or Xiao Xu's?" Su Jinru thought more than her, so of course she had to find out everything clearly, otherwise she would not feel at ease.
Xia Xi said, "What he meant is exactly what I meant."
Su Jinru was suddenly amused by her words and felt inexplicably discouraged.
"Please worry less in the future. Taking good care of your body is more important than anything else. I won't let myself be wronged. I never did before, and now that Xu Yanfeng is by my side, I won't do it even more."
Su Jinru glanced at her sideways, completely losing her temper, and pushed her: "Go away, I need to wash the vegetables."
"I'll help you wash it." Xia Xi found a rubber band to tie her hair up.
Su Jinru chased her out: "Don't hang around in the kitchen when you're wearing a white dress."
Xia Xi returned to the living room, sat down next to Xu Yanfeng, and put her hand into his. He looked at her, clasped his fingers together, and held her hand. He knew that the mother and daughter had something to say, so he didn't interrupt.

Xia Yue bought some cold dishes and the family sat together for dinner.
The marrow bone soup is placed in a white casserole and placed on the induction cooker. It is bubbling and white hot steam is wafting away. It makes you sweat while eating it. It is clearly a hot summer day, but it feels like winter.
Xia Xi reached in with his chopsticks, picked up a piece of meat, and without even blinking, put it into Xu Yanfeng's bowl. Afraid that he would get tired of it, he pushed the dipping sauce bowl towards him, indicating that he should dip it in it while eating.
Xu Yanfeng tilted his head and looked at her.
Xia Xi bit the tip of her chopsticks and said vaguely, "Don't you like it?"
"No." Xu Yanfeng smiled and ate the piece of meat that was stewed until it was soft and fragrant.
Xia Xi didn't look at him. She took out the boiled green leafy vegetables and ate them. She secretly vowed to be nicer to Xu Yanfeng in the future. A little better, not just a little, but a lot better. Since time can't be turned back, some things can be made up for a little bit.
"Mom, I want to eat meat too." Ziheng pulled her arm.
Xia Xi picked up a piece of meat with bones and put it into his small stainless steel bowl: "It's a little hot, eat it slowly."
Ziheng looked at the big bone that was much taller than his bowl and didn't know where to start eating it. He sighed and wondered why the one he picked for his father was pure meat?
"Why are you still sighing?" Xia Xi was at a loss whether to laugh or cry.
Seeing Ziheng staring at the big bone in the bowl, Xia Xi suddenly realized something and used chopsticks to pick the meat off the bone. "Eat it."
Youyou was gnawing on a large bone with both hands, her mouth covered in grease and meat scraps. She looked at Ziheng and shook her head like a little adult: "You're so spoiled."
Ziheng: “…”
Several adults laughed.
It gets dark late in the summer, and you can still see the gorgeous sunset after dinner. The gradient from warm orange to crimson red covers half the sky, and white contrail clouds pass through the middle, dragging their long tails.
Xia Xi looked at it for a few seconds, then turned his gaze away to look for Su Jinru.
Xia Xi went over in her slippers, thinking she should be cleaning up in the kitchen. Sure enough, Su Jinru was busy cleaning the range hood with a rag. Xia Xi called out softly, "Mom."
