Reuniting with My Ex-Boyfriend at a Wedding

A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.

That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.

The two greete...

Chapter 365 I am also a victim

Xia Xi glanced at the people in the room. She was angry at Chen Songbai's actions and didn't bother to communicate with him any more. She said honestly: "I haven't talked to him, so I don't know."

Xu Yanfeng raised his eyebrows.

Xia Xi asked him, "What do you think?"

"Do you believe that someone who is drunk can do such a thing?" Xu Yanfeng asked back.

Most of the time, having sex after drinking is just an excuse.

Xia Xi: "I don't believe it." Otherwise she wouldn't have said something similar to Xia Yue.

Xu Yanfeng: "Then ask clearly."

When Chen Songbai came out of the room dejectedly, Xia Xi called him. She first closed the door to prevent Xia Xuan from hearing, and then adjusted her mood to prevent herself from cursing as soon as she opened her mouth.

"Let me ask you, did you really sleep with Miao Yijiajia?" Xia Xi asked bluntly without any embellishment.

Chen Songbai's head drooped, and he looked as listless as a frost-bitten eggplant. When he mentioned this, his expression became extremely painful. He rubbed his face fiercely, shook his head, and said truthfully, "I don't know."

Xia Xi wanted to curse again, but Xu Yanfeng pinched her fingers. She barely held it back, closed her eyes, suppressed her anger, and asked patiently, "What do you mean you don't know? You don't know whether you did it or not?"

Xu Yanfeng: “…”

Chen Songbai still shook his head. He tried more than once to recall what happened after he got drunk, but that memory was blank. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember it, not even a few fragments from his mind.

"I was drunk and don't remember what happened." Chen Songbai covered his forehead, unable to speak. "When I woke up, Miao Yijia was crying, and Xiaoxuan was looking at me sadly and angrily."

Hot tears welled up in his eyes, mixed with regret and self-contempt, and Chen Songbai said to himself: "It's all my fault. If I hadn't drunk, this wouldn't have happened." Or, if he had drunk less, this wouldn't have happened.

"It has already happened. What's the point of talking about it now?"

Xia Xi and Xu Yanfeng exchanged a glance. She had nothing more to ask. She knew something was fishy, but it felt like she was stuck in a knot that she couldn't untie.

After pondering for a while, Xia Xi finally thought of the good side of the matter. She suggested to Chen Songbai: "Perhaps, is it possible that you didn't do anything and it was Miao Yijia who set you up?"

Chen Songbai was stunned. He slowly raised his head and stared straight at Xia Xi.

Xia Xi didn't want to deliberately lead into any confusion and said, "Of course, this is just my guess. After all, I haven't been involved in your daily interactions with Miao Yijiajia, so it's impossible for me to make an accurate conclusion. It all depends on you." After a pause, she said in a cold tone, "If this matter didn't involve Xuanxuan, I wouldn't want to get involved. Whatever you do is none of my business."

It was precisely because she saw that Xia Xuan was deeply in love and could not let go of Chen Songbai that she had to be cautious again and again.

Chen Songbai: "But, but she is my sister, why would she plot against me?"

Xia Xi twitched her lips and smiled, laughing at his naiveté and stupidity: "Sister? Didn't you say we're not related by blood? What kind of sister is she? Don't tell me you didn't know her background before."

Chen Songbai had indeed known about this for a long time; he'd overheard it among his relatives, but he'd never taken it seriously. For so many years, he'd treated Miao Yijia like a younger sister. So when it happened, he felt like the sky had fallen, unable to accept it.

*

On the way home, Xia Xi's words kept appearing in Chen Songbai's mind.

Could it be that Miao Yijiajia set him up?

What does she want?

Chen Songbai's mind was in a mess. When he got home, he found Miao Yijiajia was still in his house.

When she heard the door open, Miao Yijiajia didn't move at all. Like a statue, she curled up on the sofa, hugging her knees, her hair hanging down, covering her entire face. In the dimly lit room, the shadow looked a bit scary.

It was not until Chen Songbai approached that she looked up. Her face was pale. She was still wearing the same suspender nightgown from yesterday and wrapped in a blanket, as if she had been in this state of not eating, drinking or sleeping since he left.

Chen Songbai paused. Seeing her made him feel itchy and uncomfortable. He couldn't say the words he had prepared. He couldn't help but worry about what would happen if his guess was false and he had caused her substantial harm.

Xia Xuan was right. He hadn't thought anything through and had no right to ask her not to leave him.

Chen Songbai seemed to be frozen in place, not moving for a long time. He clenched his fingers, walked up to her, his throat moving and words coming out with difficulty: "Tell me clearly, what really happened between us..."

He hesitated to utter the last two words.

"You don't believe me? Do you think I'm kidding you about my innocence?" Miao Yijia looked up, tears rolling down her cheeks. "If possible, I'd also like to pretend nothing happened."

Miao Yijia wiped away her tears, a sarcastic smile appeared on the corner of her lips: "I'm so stupid. I was kind enough to consider your feelings and worried that you would blame yourself. I repeatedly emphasized that we are not related by blood. But you, are you so afraid that I will hold you responsible and are eager to get rid of me?

"That's not what I meant." Chen Songbai explained in a hurry and almost bit his tongue.

Miao Yijiajia didn't want to talk to him, so she put on her slippers and went to the kitchen.

Chen Songbai watched her back, his hopes ignited and then shattered. He dragged his heavy feet to the master bedroom. It was still the same as when he left, the bed a mess, the bloodstains on the sheets had dried and turned brown.

He closed his eyes in grief, unwilling to take another look. Suddenly, the crisp sound of a knife falling to the ground came from outside. Thinking of something, Chen Songbai's nerves tightened and he hurried out.

Miao Yijia clutched her wrist, the bloody knife lying at her feet. She groaned in pain as blood oozed from between her fingers, dripping onto the white tile floor. The contrast between bright red and white was striking and particularly shocking.
