Reuniting with My Ex-Boyfriend at a Wedding

A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.

That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.

The two greete...

Chapter 398: Wasn’t I quite skilled at fishing back then?

Xu Yanfeng didn't delay too long on this trip.

When he returned home, the two people, one big and one small, were still the same as they were when he left. In the sunken rest area, the big one was working on a laptop and the small one was doing homework. The scene was quiet and beautiful.

Seeing Xu Yanfeng coming back, Xia Xi closed her computer and stepped onto the stairs. Only then did she see that he was carrying a bag of food and a document. She wasn't interested in the document, so she brought over the food. It was from the same bakery that she and Ziheng both liked.

She looked at Xu Yanfeng's face carefully, and after a few seconds, she observed other parts of his body.

Xu Yanfeng opened his arms and let her look at him, chuckling softly, he asked, "Is there something wrong?"

"How was your talk with your dad?" Xia Xi felt a little relieved because she didn't find any injuries on his body.

It’s not that she was making a big deal out of nothing. The last few times he met Xu Guanshan, he was either slapped in the face or had his head hit, and she was still scared.

Xu Yanfeng: "It's okay, we didn't quarrel, we just talked about something."

Xia Xi felt completely relieved. She unwrapped the pastry and took a piece for herself. It was fresh out of the oven and still warm. She took another piece, walked back, and stuffed it into Ziheng's mouth. "Rest for a while. There's no rush to write. We still have several days of vacation."

Ziheng obediently put down his pen, held the pastry in his mouth, wiped his hands with a wet tissue, leaned on the sofa and ate it bite by bite.

Xia Xi turned on the computer again, replied to the customer's feedback email, and seeing that it was almost time, went to the kitchen to cook rice and started preparing the dishes.

Xu Yanfeng put the contract in the study, changed into home clothes, rolled up his sleeves and went to the kitchen to help.

The food arrived half an hour ago, the shrimp still fresh. Xu Yanfeng scooped them out of the basin, deftly cutting off the heads and pulling out the shrimp threads. Xia Xi found it pleasing to watch his slender, nimble hands performing such a trivial task.

She picked up a broccoli and said, "Help me with this too."

Xu Yanfeng raised his eyelids and glanced at her. He didn't refuse, but asked her for advice: "How do I do it?"

Xia Xi: "Just cut it into small pieces with a knife and wash it clean in water."

Xu Yanfeng nodded.

Xia Xi then marinated the ribs with confidence, preparing to make garlic ribs.

Xu Yanfeng finished the task Xia Xi had assigned her, washed his hands, and glanced at her. She was peeling garlic cloves, her head lowered, her long hair tied up in a low bun. She wore a lavender sweater with a shoulder-length collar, revealing a sliver of her fair skin. The sleeves were a bit too big and kept falling down, making it difficult for her to work, so she tied them up with a rubber band, securing them at her forearm.

She threw the peeled garlic into a small porcelain bowl.

Xia Xi took a tomato, washed it under the tap, cut a cross with a knife, boiled it in water, inserted chopsticks into it, and easily tore off the skin.

Xu Yanfeng didn't know these common sense things. He just watched from the side without saying anything. He still remembered the first time he saw her cook, and the indescribable melancholy he felt - these were things she hadn't been able to do before, but now she was incredibly skilled at them.

Perhaps because his gaze was too focused, Xia Xi turned her head, looked at him, and smiled: "What?"

Xu Yanfeng hugged her from behind, lowered his head, and placed his lips on her bare shoulder, still without saying a word.

Xia Xi shrank her neck: "Itchy."

Xu Yanfeng tilted his head and placed his lips on her cheek again: "We still have a few days of vacation left, how about finding a place to vacation?"

Xia Xi said: "Zhao Lei regretted going on vacation. She told me that there were people everywhere and it was so crowded that you couldn't get through."

Xu Yanfeng: "Then let's go somewhere closer."

Xia Xi: "I have no objection, go ask your son."

Xu Yanfeng decided for his son: "He has no objection either."

Xia Xi smiled and pushed back with her elbow: "Stand back a little, I want to cut vegetables."

"Cut it like this." Xu Yanfeng put his hands around her waist. Her waist was slender, and his arms crossed in front of her.

Xia Xi laughed and struggled: "How can I cut it like this?"

"Why can't I cut it?" Xu Yanfeng said with reason, "I didn't hold your hands."

Xia Xi was extremely helpless. What was wrong with this person? He was so clingy. Xia Xi took a knife and cut the tomatoes into small pieces and put them into a deep plate.

Xu Yanfeng was like a piece of gummy bear. No matter what she did, he would stick to her and move with her.

The cooking time was forced to be extended, but fortunately Xia Xi was a skilled cook and was not affected much. She cooked three dishes and a soup: garlic pork ribs, braised prawns, stir-fried broccoli, and a tomato and egg soup.

After dinner, Xia Xi packed the things for the family of three to take on the trip. After hearing Xu Yanfeng say that the distance was not far, she didn't bring too many things.

After waking up from a nap at around two o'clock, Xu Yanfeng took the car keys, locked the door, and drove his wife and children to the suburbs.

Ziheng was clearly excited, his behavior inconsistent with his usual calm demeanor. He looked around with anticipation written all over his face. "Where are we going, Dad?"

Xu Yanfeng said, "Let's find a place with beautiful mountains and rivers, so that you can feel more relaxed while doing your homework."

Ziheng: “…”

If you bully him again, he won’t fall for it: “Humph, I’m almost done with my homework.”

Xu Yanfeng was wearing sunglasses. He looked at his face in the rearview mirror with a somewhat cold look on his face. "Didn't I buy you extracurricular practice materials?"

Ziheng: “…”

What a real dad.

Ziheng folded his arms and pretended to think deeply: "I didn't bring it."

"I know." Xu Yanfeng said, "I got them for you. They're in your mother's bag. Three for each subject."

Ziheng: “…”

Is this person a devil?

Xia Xi shook her head. Their conversation was becoming more and more like the bickering of elementary school students. She usually didn't join in and just watched quietly from the side.
