A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.
That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.
The two greete...
There were scattered rays of sunlight leaking from under the trees. When the wind blew, the fragments of light swayed, and the water in the distance shimmered.
Xu Yanfeng sat on a stone stool, baited Ziheng's small fishing rod, and taught him some basic fishing techniques: "Just take this fishing rod and cast it into the air. Wait until the hook hits the water. Do you see the float floating on the surface? If a fish takes the bait, the float will shake up and down, and you need to find the right moment to pull it up. Do you understand?"
Ziheng nodded seriously and continued playing by himself.
Xu Yanfeng felt that this was not enough, so he reminded him: "If the fish is big and struggling hard, you may not be able to pull it up. Don't be stubborn at this time. Either drop the fishing rod and leave it alone, or call Dad for help. Otherwise, if you fight with the fish, Dad is afraid that the fish will catch you instead of you. If that happens, Dad will have to jump into the water to get you out."
Ziheng: “…”
Xia Xi, who was standing by, was stunned when he heard this: "Are there really such big fish in this reservoir?"
"Of course." Xu Yanfeng said firmly, "Old Fang puts a lot of fish fry in there every year."
Seeing Ziheng fishing properly, he felt relieved. He then helped Xia Xi with the fishing rod. Before he could say anything, Xia Xi said, "You don't have to teach me again. I listened carefully when you taught Ziheng just now. It's very simple."
Xu Yanfeng put the baited fishing rod into her hand and raised his chin slightly: "Try it."
Xia Xi stood up and threw the fish into the air. For some reason, the hook did not fall into the water as she expected. No matter how hard she pulled, she could not move it. Looking back, she saw that the fishing line was entangled on the branches behind her.
“…”
Xu Yanfeng looked at her dumbfounded expression and repeated her words with a slightly raised tone, "It's very simple?"
Xia Xi smiled awkwardly: "Help me."
Xu Yanfeng struggled to get the fishing line off the branch, and without asking her to do anything else, he helped her flick the hook into the water, then handed her the fishing rod. She sat down obediently, staring at the float on the water.
Xu Yanfeng started to work on his fishing rod. At this time, Ziheng stood up excitedly. There was a slight movement under his fishing rod. He held his breath, his eyes burning, and followed Xu Yanfeng's instructions just now. He waited until the fish took a firm bite of the hook before lifting it up.
There was a small fish hanging on the hook, struggling and shaking its tail in the air.
Ziheng couldn't believe he had caught a fish so quickly: "Dad!"
Xu Yanfeng looked at his excited little face, rubbed his head and praised him: "My son is really amazing."
He put down his fishing rod, helped Ziheng remove the fish from the hook, and tossed it into a blue plastic bucket filled with water. Ziheng couldn't bear to look away from the fish swimming happily in the water. This was his first time catching a fish on his own, and he felt a great sense of accomplishment.
Xia Xi held her chin and looked at the fish float which had not moved for a long time. She lifted the fishing rod impatiently and saw that the bait underneath was gone at some point. It must have been eaten by the fish.
Xia Xi pursed her lips and said nothing.
Xu Yanfeng: "Don't be in a hurry. The enjoyment of fishing is the process."
Hearing the WeChat ringtone coming from the bag on the ground, Xu Yanfeng sat still and ordered Ziheng, who was squatting there looking at his spoils, "Son, help Dad get the phone out."
Ziheng was very obedient and did as he was told. He took out his phone from his bag, glanced at the notes, and reported to Xu Yanfeng: "Dad, it's Tang, Yi, and Zhou."
"Oh, it's your Uncle Tang. You met him that night, the unreliable uncle who gave you the car." Xu Yanfeng guessed that Tang Yizhou didn't have anything important to talk to him about, so he said casually, "Please answer it for Dad."
Ziheng pressed the answer button.
Tang Yizhou called via video, and his face appeared on the screen: "Xu Er, you...eh? You're my godson, so where's your dad?"
"..." Ziheng's young face was filled with speechless expression. He only had Zhou Du as his godfather and no other godfather. For some reason, this man unilaterally wanted to be his godfather.
But Ziheng didn't bother to correct him and moved the screen slightly to the side so that he could see Xu Yanfeng: "My dad is fishing."
"Xu Er, where are you fishing?" Tang Yizhuo asked with interest.
After asking, he suddenly realized: "The surroundings look familiar to me. Isn't this Lao Fang's reservoir? If you ask me, you still know how to enjoy life. Oh, the holidays are so boring. I don't know where the other ones went. I can't find them at all. How about I join you and your father-son team? I haven't been fishing for a while, and my hands are itching to go."
Xu Yanfeng, who had been silent the whole time, spoke up at this moment: "You are not welcome."
Tang Yizhou was unhappy: "Is it your turn to speak? Your family owns the reservoir? I'm going to ask Lao Fang for an explanation."
Xu Yanfeng took the phone from Ziheng and held it high, framing his and Xia Xi's faces in the camera: "Did you see that?"
On the screen, Xia Xi was wearing a sweatshirt, sweatpants, and a pink baseball cap. She turned her head and made a scissors sign as a greeting to Tang Yizhou. Xu Yanfeng was amused by her playful expression and curled his lip. "We're not a father-son relationship, we're a family of three, a parent-child relationship. What are you doing here? Are you trying to be my son?"
Xia Xi couldn't help laughing and thought, you men are so childish.
Tang Yizhou felt like he was really out of his mind. Xu Er was so love-sick that of course he should stay with his wife during the holidays. How could he forget that?
"Hang up, the fish is on the hook." After Xu Yanfeng finished speaking, he simply hung up the phone, reeled in his fishing rod, and saw a large grass carp flapping on the hook.
Now the pressure was on Xia Xi. She hadn't caught a single fish yet, and she pouted and muttered, "I can't be worse than Ziheng, can I?"
