Chapter 56 Lover

Chapter 56 Lover

The next morning, Cheng Hexi woke up to find her alone.

She reached out and touched it; the sheets were now neatly made, and the person beside her seemed to have been gone from the room for a long time.

The blackout curtains were only drawn one layer, making it somewhat dark both inside and outside, and the sound of light rain could be heard.

After realizing that this was not her usual master bedroom but her side-lying position, Cheng Hexi gradually regained consciousness.

Thinking about what she had done last night, she unconsciously clenched her hands, buried her face in the pillow again, and her shoulders trembled slightly.

She woke up once in the middle of the night last night, and You Yue poured her some water and then cheered her up to chat for a while.

The rainy day made her lose her sense of time. She reached for her phone and saw that it was clearly 7:48.

Although it wasn't a workday, Xilin's office was piled high with paperwork from her week-long business trip and wedding. She also had to go to the company today.

But recently, she's been working non-stop and is exhausted, plus she's been suffering from jet lag. Cheng Hexi is so tired that she decides to sleep for another twenty minutes.

What is Youyue doing today?

Last night we were busy talking about our feelings, and he didn't seem to say anything.

As I pondered these thoughts, drowsiness easily returned.

Cheng Hexi is a light sleeper, especially when she goes back to sleep for a nap.

She vaguely sensed the door being gently pushed open from the outside, and tried to open her eyes but felt her eyelids were too heavy.

You Yue's steps were very light.

He walked to the bedside, looked down at the person on the bed for a while, then reached out and touched her face, placing a kiss on the corner of her lips.

Before leaving, Cheng Hexi unconsciously tugged at his sleeve from behind.

Her hand first touched the delicate, hard cufflinks.

"woke up?"

You Yue let her pull him along without moving, and asked, "Do you want some water?"

He brought in a cup, which was more than half full of water.

Cheng Hexi said "yes," and then she opened her eyes to see a neatly dressed You Yue. The man's black hair was no longer as messy as it had been the night before, revealing his sharp and handsome features. Her gaze swept over his high nose bridge, and she was reminded of the feeling of his nose brushing against her skin last night.

This person just said last night that he was infatuated with her.

Cheng Hexi thought that she herself was just as good.

You Yue straightened up and handed the cup to her. She sat up on the bed, closed her eyes and took a few sips, then put the cup back in his hand.

The sound of rain outside seemed clearer than before, and Cheng Hexi's gaze was briefly drawn to it for two seconds before she asked, "Is the rain heavy?"

You Yue put the cup down and said, "Xiao Yu."

"There's been so much rain this year," Cheng Hexi said, looking up as he watched his well-defined fingers brush against the rim of the cup.

You Yue hummed in agreement, then turned around and met her gaze. He gave a slight smile.

"It rained the day before yesterday, and it's raining again today, but the day you returned to Beijing was sunny."

Cheng Hexi said "Oh," and then said seriously, "Then I'm pretty lucky."

Youyue returned to the bedside.

She asked, "Are you going to the company today?"

He grunted in agreement and said briefly, "The board of directors."

Cheng Hexi was still sleepy, so she nodded casually and looked up at him again.

He was dressed impeccably in a shirt, trousers, cufflinks, and a watch, looking as if he could walk straight into a meeting room at any moment, but his tie was still loosely hanging around his neck, swaying casually with his movements.

Why aren't you wearing a tie?

"Let's see if my wife is awake," You Yue said casually, still candidly, "I'll try my luck."

Cheng Hexi raised an eyebrow and asked, "What if I wake up...?"

She wore no makeup, yet her fox-like eyes were still captivating, and every smile and frown was radiant.

“If you’re awake, I’ll just ask if you want some water—” You Yue smiled, his purpose clear: “And while I’m at it, could you please help me tie my tie?”

Upon hearing this, Cheng Hexi lowered her eyes and smiled gently.

It was easy to guess that if she didn't wake up, You Yue would do what he did when he first came in: put the water glass on the bedside table, lean down and gently kiss her, then leave so she could continue to sleep soundly.

"Come on, Mr. You." She was in a good mood: "Let me serve you."

As she spoke, Cheng Hexi got up, knelt by the bed, and pulled the man's tie. She used very little force to pull You Yue closer.

You Yue chuckled softly, lowered his eyes and let her do as she pleased. Watching her slender, fair fingers deftly tie the tie, he felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction.

Looking back now, even when he had no plans for the future, he had already stepped into the most wonderful future.

After they finished tying their ties, their eyes met.

Ambiguity lingers.

Once they kissed, things would definitely get out of hand. You Yue cupped her face in his hands, turned his head, and restrained himself as he kissed her moist lips.

After a tender kiss, Cheng Hexi wrapped her arms around the back of the man's neck, letting go of all her strength as she leaned against his shoulder. You Yue naturally put his arm around her waist, raised his left hand, and ran his slender fingers through her long hair.

This tenderness lasted only a few seconds before Cheng Hexi pulled away, lay back on the bed, and looked up at him, saying, "Go to work, see you tonight."

You Yue couldn't help but laugh.

Thinking of the sensation of his fingers running through her long hair, he asked, "When are you going to get a haircut?"

They're still thinking about this.

Cheng Hexi was a little surprised. She thought for a moment and said, "Tomorrow."

I have a backlog of work to deal with today, so I don't have time.

But she has always been this impulsive and decisive person; once she makes a decision, she wants to do it immediately.

You Yue hummed in agreement and suggested, "Shall I go with you?"

Cheng Hexi immediately shook her head.

You Yue was surprised to be rejected so quickly and raised an eyebrow slightly.

Cheng Hexi smiled, feeling that rather than having You Yue accompany her, she would rather see his amazed gaze.

Thinking of this, she added, "Shall we have dinner together tomorrow night?"

Hearing this, You Yue bent down to tuck the blanket around her, agreed, and then left satisfied.

-

The next morning, Cheng Hexi worked from home and held online meetings across time zones. The meetings ended at around 10 a.m.

She went downstairs, drank half a glass of water, and checked the documents when her stylist, Jane, arrived at her home ten minutes early.

Jane is more than ten years older than Cheng Hexi, and Jane has been cutting Cheng Hexi's hair since she was in high school.

Jane knew that Cheng Hexi had always had long hair, so when she suddenly heard that she was going to cut it short, she stood behind her and looked at her through the mirror, feeling a little sorry for her.

"Won't you regret it?" she joked. "After all, I've had long hair for so many years."

Cheng Hexi looked at her through the mirror and smiled: "Probably not."

"Even if you really regret it, it will come back."

The truth is, she has always made decisive decisions and has never regretted them.

Jane smiled, admiring her superior face shape and features in the mirror, and carefully inquired about her expectations.

She still remembers the first time she met Cheng Hexi was at her styling studio. At that time, Cheng Hexi was about fifteen or sixteen years old, dressed neatly in her school uniform, with a simple ponytail. She was naturally very beautiful, but what was most attractive was her temperament.

A cheerful, bright girl who grew up surrounded by love.

The affairs of the He family weren't exactly a secret, but no one else knew the specifics. I only saw her occasionally a few years ago and felt that she wasn't as well as before. Seeing her today, I felt that the gloom on her body had lifted, and she was showing some of the same traits she had at the beginning.

-

The weather in Beijing lately has been alternating between sunny and rainy days.

When the rain is heavy, it makes a crackling sound as it hits the ground, and thick clouds gather over the entire city. On sunny days, the sun is scorching hot, and the leaves of the trees wilt and curl under the high temperature.

You Yue had a lunch party at noon, and then several meetings in the afternoon.

The last meeting was a shareholders' meeting regarding the acquisition, which took quite a while. After the meeting, he stepped into the private elevator and handed the documents back to Qi Xuan behind him.

Qi Xuan took the document and asked if he could come to the office in ten minutes to get his signature on some documents.

You Yue nodded and said, "Okay."

The elevator quickly reached the 50th floor.

He was exhausted from a busy afternoon, and naturally felt annoyed. As he stepped out of the elevator, he casually loosened his tie and walked back to his office.

After walking a few steps, the elevator reserved for senior executives opened next to us.

Lynn glanced at the person next to her and called out, "President You."

You Yue had just taken his tie off when he turned around with a nonchalant expression, but his eyes lit up uncontrollably when he saw Cheng Hexi.

This is the first time she's been here since they got their marriage certificate.

Cheng Hexi was very different today than usual.

She did indeed cut her hair short to shoulder length, and her light purple suit made her look even more radiant and beautiful.

The moment she noticed his eyes light up, Cheng Hexi smiled and then tilted her head slightly.

She was also wearing a pair of diamond earrings with long tassels today, which swayed gracefully with her movements.

In the president's office on the 50th floor of Hongsheng, in front of You Yue's assistant, they did not show much intimacy, but their closeness could not be hidden and was reflected in every glance and subtle movement.

The afternoon sun was intense, illuminating the entire room.

She was in a place where the sunlight couldn't reach her, yet she was more dazzling than the sunlight.

You Yue's previously rational and indifferent expression was now overwhelmed by amazement and tenderness.

He calmly turned his head and told Qi Xuan not to come looking for him later. Then he walked to Cheng Hexi's side, took her hand, and walked into the general manager's office with her.

The sleeves of their suits rubbed together, and their steps were synchronized, one in high heels and the other in thin-soled leather shoes.

They look extremely well-matched even from behind.

You Yue opened the door, making room for her to enter.

As soon as Cheng Hexi entered, she was drawn to the huge floor-to-ceiling windows.

The room has excellent natural light, a beautiful view from the window, and a superior vista, facing the same direction as her office.

They see almost the same scenery every day.

You Yue hugged her from behind, brushed her hair aside, and kissed the back of her neck.

He really liked this move.

Over time, Cheng Hexi went from trembling slightly when kissed to getting used to it.

He held her for a while, then she turned around and the two shared a long kiss face to face.

As You Yue kissed her, he held her waist and slowly walked a few steps, his high heels making a crisp sound.

Cheng Hexi trusted him completely and wasn't afraid of falling. She closed her eyes and kissed him earnestly.

A moment later, the kiss ended, and the two leaned into the sofa in the living room, with Cheng Hexi resting her head on his shoulder.

You Yue turned his head to look at her and reached out to play with her short hair.

The sense of satisfaction at this moment cannot be described in a few words.

You Yue thought about the slight annoyance he felt when he loosened his tie, but the moment he saw her, all other emotions vanished.

"You said we'd have dinner together, but you actually came here to pick me up." You Yue kissed her again and asked, "Why didn't you tell me beforehand? Were you trying to surprise me?"

“Yes,” Cheng Hexi said, never expecting that she would one day take the initiative to do such a thing.

She tilted her head and looked up at him, making a joke: "Let me see if President You is seriously making money."

You Yue returned the gaze with a half-smile: "Then I shouldn't have disappointed you."

Cheng Hexi curved her lips into a smile.

She looked around at the interior design of You Yue's office, imagining what he looked like working at his desk. A moment later, her high heels brushed against his neat leather shoes.

After drawing the man's attention, she asked, "You haven't commented on my short hair."

"Really? I thought my look just now conveyed that."

You Yue turned his head to look at her and kissed the top of her head.

"Very beautiful, exceptionally beautiful." He chuckled, teasingly adding, "How many times would you like to hear it?"

Cheng Hexi was teasing him, but now she felt her ears getting hot.

It might be because the indoor temperature is a bit high.

But the fresh air system is working diligently.

You Yue stopped teasing her and said that he had booked the private restaurant she liked last time.

Cheng Hexi nodded and said, "After dinner, will you accompany me back to my old house? I need to pick up some things."

You Yue, who had been playing with her fingers, paused slightly upon hearing this.

This was the first time he had heard Cheng Hexi mention where she lived before they got married.

That was her own space before she met him.

It was of great significance to her.

"I can show you some of my old photos," she said. "Want to come?"

You Yue recalled what she had said on the day she called: she wasn't sure if she liked him 100%, nor was she sure if she could love someone, and she wanted him to try dating with her.

How could she not love someone?

She's clearly too good at it.
